I've been married 22 years. There are ups and downs. Treating eachother well and being caring and loving during the day not just when you want a little. Communication. It's about more than just sex. It's about the whole package.

Family Bible Study
by drew sagan inwhat are some good ways a "family head" could study with his family, helping them to see the weak points in watchtower thinking?
i wish to start this somehow, but since "family study" is seen as simply going over some misc.
watchtower publication, i don't see where i can make the headway.

I know this sounds like a novel idea but how about a bible study using THE BIBLE and no publications. You could get a NIV bible or some other bible that reads easy. Let them use whatever translation they want. You could cover topics like who has a heavenly hope. Go to Hebrews Chapter 11, where it says that Abraham,Enoch and all of them had a heavenly hope. Or maybe you could talk about Jesus and share what the bible says about him and not what the Borg teaches. It works thats how I got my husband out. I read bible verses to him and asked him what he thought they meant. He realized on his own.

Some one on their way out answers less and less at the meetings, doesn't prepare, goes out in field service only the minimal amount and avoids talking at the door, if you do talk you only use the bible and try to share a thought from it alone, don't place literature. Get up and go the bathroom at least 3 or 4 times during the meeting and stay in there a while, play with the kids that are in there being disciplined and talk to the mother. After a while you only stay for the talk and leave before the watchtower, because it makes you sick to your stomach (I do mean physically sick) to sit there and listen to their crap and the stupid comments......but that was just me

Is Christmas for fun?
by LittleToe ingiven that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin but christianity endorses spiritual self-flagellation/crucifixion, moderation, and enough "-isms" to make your eyes water, is christmas truly for fun?
i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a hedonistic and sensory society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus thing is definitely a christian element.
would any true hedonist today want to drink such a mixed cup (potentially of poor-grade wine)?

Christmas is a time to get together with your family exchange gifts have a good meal. It makes some people think about Jesus, that can't be a bad thing. I think it is what you make it. In the New Testament Paul said not to judge people regarding what holidays that they celebrated or did not celebrate. It was up to the individual. Read Colossians 2:16, Romans 14:4-6.

What books are JW's studying in Book-Study and what will they next use?
by booker-t ina j'w friend of mine told me that jw's are studying the "pay attention to daniel's prophecies" book again.
isn't this the 4th time they have studied this book since it first came out in 1999?
why all of the fuss over this daniel book?

I remember when the Daniel book came out and I remember studying it. Man those were long bookstudies and they were at my house. 90% of it is just mumbo jumbo and you really don't get anything out of it.

When you tell someone that you're an ex-Jehovah's Witness...
by MsMcDucket in.
..are you proud or embarrassed?

I have no problem telling people I am an XJW, that usually follows with why do they believe this and that, I explain and then say you know everytime I explain why they believe this or that, where was my brain? I feel a tinge of anger with myself for allowing myself to be non-thinking and brainwashed for 15 years. There might be a little embarrasment, but everyone makes mistakes, some become alcholics others drug addicts and some marry the wrong person, I belonged to a cult and didn't use my brain for 15 years. I think if I can share my story and save one other person from being sucked into that religion it will be worth my being a little ashamed of myself.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses need Jesus as their Savior?
by Honesty ini have been thinking a lot about how the wtbts downplays jesus in their publications, public talks and general conversation.
i believe they have been conditioned by the organisation to disregard his role in their salvation due, in part to the twisting of the following scripture: romans 6:7 for he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin.. according to current wt doctrine, if a jw dies faithful to the wtbts before armageddon he/she will have a free ticket into paradise so they really don't need jesus before they die.
also, the wt claims that the jw's can pass unscathed through the destruction of 99.9% of the world's population at armageddon as long as he/she remains loyal to the whims of the watchtower and its ever changing doctrines.

Baptism is what yo do to show you belief in Jesus. Baptism doesn't save you. If yu want to get baptised you don't have to belong to church. You could do it in a spa or a jacuzzi or a big bathtub. You don't have to belong to any specific church to be a christian, but the fellowship is nice.
