Whats your opinion on the best way to step down??
by Leander ini know a lot of you here were former pioneers, servants and elders.
how did you go about stepping down?
did you just not say anything, did you write a letter or call one of the elders?.
-
LyinEyes
Are you talking about stepping down from pioneering, MS or elder?
My hubby was an elder and he stepped down, they were trying to get him to give himself some time before making that desision. Finally he called them on the phone, ( he works out of state alot) and told them he had to step down. The main reason he gave was he couldnt be a good elder and take care of his family with so many responsibiies. Plus being on the road alot , took him away from the congo.
You better beleive they made sure they got the book back. THe elders book. By this time , they knew something was not right as we were gone working and didnt make meetings while home. It didnt take them long to make sure they had the keys to the hall back, the file cabinets( secret stuff lol) and letters to the body of elders. It pissed me off the way they did it. One elder came over very early in the morning to get all those things. Made me wonder who he talked to on the phone the night before. My father in law was a MS and stopped going when we did for same reason. He worked out of state alot too.
He just stepped down over the phone, citing work as a majoy reason. -

Since leaving the WT, are you a better person?
by roybatty inim not asking from someone elses standard but instead from your own.
obviously jws would view most of us here as the worst of the worst but how do you feel about yourself now that you have left the watchtower?
what changes have you noticed about yourself?

Yeah , I am a better person, I am beginning to actually like myself.
Being raised in a dysfunctional JW home and being one for so long, after while you grow to despise yourself for everything you dont measure up too. I am free of that now and the barriers are down.
I find that I see things in a totally new way, I understand the phrase WWJD now, before I thought it was just false religions new bumper sticker. I didnt understand the concept at all as a jw. I think that is because they are so much like the pharisees.LOL
But it freed me to be a more open and honest person, and that has made me a better wife, mother and friend. -

Very interesting post , Valis. I have asked myself this many times. My father has basically, been a total shit to me for the last 15 yrs . Mind you , he is a very active, JW Minsisterial Servant. The one and only reason he is not an elder anymore , is because of events that happended 15 yrs ago.
He is suspected of having something to do with the death of my mother.
Although it was a suicide, the whole circuit( yeah real big stink)
holds him accountable for the way things went down for her. My mother was addicted to prescription pain pills , went to rehab. Dad cheated on her with a much younger sister, left mom , and went to live with the other woman. She is only 8 yrs older than me. So dad lost his postition and all 3 were d/f. Mom is out of the picture, by her own hands now. Dad marries the woman, and for a year or so , they wait to get reinstated. They get back in. He goes to working his way back to the top. But he pissed some people off in the past and they are more than to glad to make him pay now. HEHE There were so many years I had D.O. and C.O.'s wanting to know the details having long
discussion with me about him. I for so many years tried to cover over how my dad treated my mother , sister and me. Not to mention
all those he delt with as an elder. Finally , yrs down the road, I decided to accept that he would not change. He continues to pretend to be something he is not, namely a loving father and christain. I had to say these things so you will understand , the things he has done. I swear I am not one to hold a grude. If someone hurts me, and is sorry and trys to make it better, I will be the first one to say ok
it is forgotten about, lets move on. But my dad has never admitted to anything . He countinues to hurt me by his indifference with me and my children. I begged him for his attention too many times, and the door was slowly shut in my face as he watched me cry. I faced the fact that it was over. I was just sick , yeah physically too, from the pain of having this unresolved issue in my head . But my husband helped me to see, that you dont have to forgive someone, if they are not sorry for what they have done or are continuing to do to you. By thinking of it in that way, I was able to forgive myself for not forgiving him. My door is open to him , but I doubt he will ever change , this late in the game and out of pride. I am trying very hard to not let this grudge effect my life as it once did. Leaving the JW has helped me so much , since I dont have to run into him at the assemblies and watch him act like we are one big happy family. I have walked away . I guess I could thank him for being such a shit, because that only made me want to leave the JW even more. -

Dreaded Ministry School Speakers!
by TR ini'm sure every hall has or had a "student" or speaker that they just dreaded to listen to.
wether it was poor reading and pronunciation, or repetitive words, there are those grueling speakers that are murder to listen to.
and they never got better.. in one hall i went to, this bro, actually a friend of mine, had the speach mannerism "you know".

LOL!!! That is so funny TR. I love to remember all the crazy stuff we had to endure. I know you are not making fun of them , but we all know ( despite what JW say) that not all are teachers. We had a new brother start giving talks and he was very shy. This poor brother was also pale so when get got embarrassed he was 3 diff. shades of red. Well, I know how that feels and I hate to see someone in such distress. We live in Hicksville , USA way back in the woods, and half of the congo is inbred . Every single time this brother had to give a talk, his whole family , wife and kids would be laughing at him...
out loud . It was just an embarrassing scene. I used to get so nervous for him. -

by Xander in...some ancient wisdom this way comes?
pulling over from another thread.... i'm curious how many have dabbled in witchcraft/spiritism after leaving the jws.

cards with words on them for learning. Guess what the one , the only one out of the stack, laying right by my mouse says?
Witch. !!!! With the word in a sentence right under it.. I dress up as a witch for Halloween. Is this my calling? LOL But weird huh? -

"Shepherding Calls"
by mindfield inhow often are these elders supposed to come visit anyway?
it's been a long while since we had any elder come to our house... sure, we had some "brothers and sisters" come by to either use the bathroom while in the service or just say hi, but an elder?
it's been at least a year.. are these guys getting lazy?

My hubby was an elder and all of a sudden stopped going. He even told the other elders he has issues with the organization. OK big red flag , should have came up.. apostacy. I think they know and are afraid to confront the matter. So they have stayed away. Or was it because my hubby lost his temper , last time they were here, and they were afraid he would hit 'em on top of the head??? I think they are waiting for orders from the c.o. he is due soon.

Even thou , i dont agree with most things the JW teach , I can'tshake the feeling that it will end in some way, maybe not soon, but in my
childrens adulthood. -

Twenty things making Irish Women Superior
by Hyghlandyr intwenty things that make irish women superior, according to catydid, the third person of the trinity of my cult (thetruereb and myself being the other two persons of said trinity).
this was taken from a chat in yahoo a few weeks ago.. 1... we are prettier.. 2... we have balls.. 3... we can cook like nobody else.. 4... we tolerate our [irish] men and their idiocy better than any woman.. 5... if i tried, me like most irish, can drink most of you non irish men under the table.. 6... we have pride in ourselves that few women have, being that most women are fucked in the head, because they try to be feminine.
we are feminine naturally, so we dont need to work on our femininity, thus we can put our efforts into better things.. 7... we stand our ground.. 8... but at the same time accept anothers conflicting view.. 9... we dont take shit in the way most women do,meaning most women say 'i dont take shit' yet are manipulated.
