Hi....

i've been "lurking" around here for a while now (on-and-off for a couple years).

today's the day i'm going to take "the plunge" into "apostacy" and introduce myself here.

i am a 39-year-old single mom of 6, i live in the interior of bc, canada, and work in a doctor's office.

Welcome to the forum Rose. And no we are never bored hearing other stories,,,,,,,that is exactly how we all started , we just had to spill the beans on our story ya know.

I am sorry you went thru so much, but you have a great group of people here who have been through such terrible things , horrible things and they tell their stories to encourage new ones to feel free to tell their stories. It is great therapy for me to tell all of mine . And boy do we have some horror stories of injustices done to us by the WT. There is no greater healing than being with others who have had similar experience , because we feel we really do belong somewhere.

We can go on with our lives out of the JW's , have a great life, family, and friends on the outside , but is is so important to be able to talk to ones who know exactly what we mean and feel about things.

This was a great movie, I have heard so many ex jw's say this movie meant so much to them.

We can compare ourselves to Andy,,,,,,,inprisioned for so many years,,,,dreaming of a better life, and when we found the WT to be a lie, we dug like crazy to get out. We even had to swim thru some crap to get to the other side of life. But it was so worth it.

i didnt know what other word to use but nerdy,, but you will get the picture when i tell you a couple of my favorites.

or maybe they are not so much "nerdy" as they are just off the beaten path singers,,maybe even a bit odd.

ok im upset right now about a girl.

Sorry to hear about this, it sounds just like what my son went thru.

He was dating a girl from school, for over a year and a half. They were too young to be so serious. But he really did love this girl, even thou he wanted to be young and have freedom , he stayed with her. The last few months before they broke up, it was constant fighting, on again , off again. He cooled it with her and they broke up shortly afterward. She started seeing another guy at school and my son admitted it hurt really bad. He decided he would like to stay friends thou.

They had been planning Prom , for so long. The breakup happened 10 days before prom. My son had two girls who were dying to go with him but he choose to go with his ex, at least as friends, and to have a good nite , after all they had been thru.

Right after Prom, things got uglier between them and she has been with about 2 other guys since she broke up with my son. My son just can not understand how she could have changed so much so quickly and now they are not friends at all.

It's all such a long story, and crazy at that. But my son wanted to be friends with her, but after some of her actions and hurtful things said, he just is staying clear , enjoying his freedom , well, freedom to hang out with his buds, and plenty of other girls without being tied down.

I just say go out be young, live, date girls, go out with girls as friends and if something happens between you two then it will, just enjoy your life and let the girls you date know that you are not ready to get married,,,,,,,lol.......that is what I tell my son. He is doing much better over it all and I hope he doesnt get tied down again.

we used to have these get togethers, when i was a kid, and everyone would sing.

i remember these songs, that were not in the jw song book, just more like folk songs, that jw's would pass along.

there was imparticular, that actually was very beautiful.

Yeah we used to do that stuff too,,,,we had tape of bible stories songs.

One was the 12 apostles,,,,,,,forgot most of it.........There was Simon the one called Peter , and Andrew his brother.....etc.

There was one for children about the New World.

Some of them were sweet, the kids loved them because they were different from the songbook.

i was listening to zep's dazed and confused today and the rocking middle section of that song never ceases to amaze me - john bonham was from a different planet, was completely insane, or both.

nothing i've ever heard in any other song quite compares to that.. honorable mentions:.

neil peart on the songs tom sawyer and subdivisions.

Barry Mannilow, ( ohhhhhh Mandy!!) John Dever ..( rocky mountain high,,hehe) , Anne Murray.

I also like Tom Jones,,,,,,,as does my Granny Ms. Mouthy!! He is not nerdy at all, but well, in his own element I guess.

So if you love Celine , or Mandy Moore, thats cool, so spill the beans.

Joel update

well some of the same people are still here as when i was active here.. some updates on me.. i got my bachelors degree.. mitch and i are still together.

16 years this month.. i now work in market research.. i have 125 board games.. i have now visited 20 national parks.. i have gained 30 lbs that i need to lose.. hugs to all.

Children of the 80's!

alright, i admit, i was a child of the 80s (or what i can remember) but the real reason for this thread is i have noticed that there is quite a few of people on this site that are close to me in age or just a little bit younger or older.

i will be 28 in june.

i think that this period in my life is a deep questioning period, because at younger ages i didnt give a flip about anything jw or ex-jw for that matter.

My dad smashed my Prince tape to pieces. He was a little rauchey thou , but I still love Prince, I just hope he dumps the borg soon and get back to what he used to do.
