I wasn't disfellowshipped, just faded out. Does this apply to us too? Hope my mother doesn't fall for this BS.

Thank you Sabastious. I am happy to have found this site. I have been out for around 18 years. Most of my friends growing up and family stayed in. It's nice to have a place to have these discussions in an intelligent manner.

How to remain sane while being a hypocrite?
by Kensho inas time goes on i find it a real challenge to keep my sanity while still in "the truth" especially after considering all the rsearch i have been doing about the org.
that i have been very active in for almost 4 decades.
i have managed to be removed as an elder while staying in good standing (prayers-reading,mic carring etc.

"ever demanding push to report FS time which is totally unscriptual and it is just over the top for me."
My husband is in sales. When I hear him talk about his job, the business meetings, the numbers, the push to do more, more, more... it reminds me of field service. Back in the day it was how many people you talked to, how much literature left, how many return visits, blah, blah, blah......
On another note, here is one of many things that I believe pushed my father to resign as an elder and later fade out. I had two girlfriends growing up, sisters. Their mother and father divorced, he remarried, their mother was dfsd because it turned out she was a lesbian. They had shared custody. Well, he and his new wife decided they wanted to go to Bethel. So guess what this fine specimen of a JW did? He lied and said that he did not have children and left his daughters behind.

So this person is an ex-JW but still believes in apostates? Well I am happy to be an apostate, but I'm not bitter. I have a life I never dreamed I would, namely, a happy life.
Sounds like this person is riding the fence and he/she is just jealous or.......bitter?

I've never met a bigger group of hypocrites. It seems to come easily to them, as does being bitter and downright mean. The people you speak of are probably still in it for the same reasons you are, too scared to leave, think they have too much to lose...so, they let it fly here, feel better long enough to make it through a meeting, field service, etc. and then they go back back home and vent again. Repeat..........
As for staying because of the devestation you would cause others...I, and I assume a lot of others on this site did it and survived.
You remind me of my father. He was an elder many years ago and then stepped down (wasn't removed) because it was too much. He slowly faded out of the "the truth" and he survived.
The fact that any active witnesses are on this website is very telling to me. It's just a shame that they can't free themselves from the shackles of fear and get on with their lives. I know my life has turned out infinitely better because I chose to leave "the truth."

WT March 1,2011 p8 "my 2 cents"
by bobld inwbts illustration of you owned a beautiful home.some tenants live peacably others made trouble damage the property.what would you do to correct matters?would you destroy your home?you would evict the bad tenants.. the wbts compares this to what are good and bad tenants or j.w.=good and all other people=bad.. let me illustrate it this way.home a lives an exemplary family, good christian conduct, threats others well, helps the community, maintains their home, all their children are well behaved.. home b lives a j.w.
with the same attributes.would evict the family from home a.my point is their are good people and some live better exemplary lives than j.w.just because they don't go to the kingdom hall they are bad tenants and would be evicted.. also their illustration in 2000 years old so good and bad tenants have come and gone and their landlord has not done a thing,at least in the real world we have gov't and laws to take bad landlords.. b.

This was something I pondered early on after I left the "the truth." I knew people who behaved as well if not better than JW. They just had the wrong religious label. It occurred to me that I wouldn't want to worship a god that would destroy people like that just because they weren't a witness.

May 15th WT - Wives Should be Obedient, Submissive & Not Disagree
by flipper inonce again we received the may 15th " witness only " wt from our lurking jw friend.
even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .
it's horrible.

How about having to cover your head to say a prayer aloud in a group if you're a woman? I will never forget being allowed to say the blessing before dinner but I had to put a paper napkin on my head. RIDICULOUS!!! JW is one of the most sexist religions out there. I will never forget one Saturday afternoon studying for the Watchtower with my fiancee. I cracked a joke in the middle of our study and he actually looked at me and said that "I needed to learn how to respect him because he was going to be my husband." That went over well (and we never got married). One of many things that led to my eventual and continuing freedom. Wow! How refreshing to find this site. This is my first post. I could go on for pages but I'll save some for later.
