I'm with you. A few months back I celebrated my birthday for ony the 2nd time in my life. It felt wonderful even though all I did was go out to dinner with a couple of friends. I love getting and sending birthday cards.

i am a "newbie" that has been "lurking" and commenting on a couple of posts over the last six months.

at the moment, there are lots of people saying bad things about it.
i want to set the record straight.
I have found the last few years since escaping the Borg to be quite difficult and lonely. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. It's been so hard to find new friends who understand what I've been going thru. In fact I didn't have any who do, until I started coming here that is. Now I have several ab fab online friends who DO understand how difficult it can be sometimes. And I'm really looking forward to meeting up with some of them in the flesh soon.

just so i don't miss anybody who is interested.... my results from the ekg and the echogram showed a severe leak in a heart valve.
i am going for an angiogram on the 15th but the cardiologist says the liklihood is great that i will need open heart surgery.
rare for a 30 year old but if necessary, it is necessary.. no word yet on the results of the blood work for liver enzymes and hepatitis.

Our brains have evolved various "programs" to do lots of things, control the funtioning of our bodies, communicate, think, etc. This type of evolutionary development is more complex than the simplistic point of view the WTS uses. i.e. If there's a program there must be a programmer. All most JW's know about evolution is what the WTS has told them and unfortunatly, yet again, they have been misinformed.

The thing you have to realise is that they have loads of people sitting around in Bethel with hardly anything to do, especially back in the 60's when that article was written. In that artificial environment, removed from reality and feeding their minds on nothing but WT propaganda, even the craziest of notions can seem to make sense.
Add to that the fact that any writer relies on feedback from his/her readers (oops sorry, this is the WTS, women would never have been allowed to write) to gauge the acceptance of his work, and no-one would ever have dared critisize anything in a WT publication, so the writers only ever got positive feedback.
And the poor shmucks in the congregation's swallowed it hook, line & sinker.
