The society gets to rent out district convention sites for free!!!??
by EndofMysteries inlook what i just found.... "the jehovahs witness convention, christian congregation was approved for a $30,000 grant to offset the cost of renting veterans memorial arena july 4-6 and july 18-20.".
http://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/showstory.php?story_id=542296.
i wonder how much are they charged for that event or if it ends up being close to free since the city will say it will generate revenue for the city.

Maybe these are types of things protesters should have on their signs
I did a little looking and the convention rentals i found info on were around $1500-2000 a day for 10000 seat arena. I wasn't able to find anything for this place. But even if it is double that, for six days (2 weekends) they are still breaking even or better.

If you want to make an impact maybe posting a bunch of those 1 foot x 2 foot concert style posters around the convention center would accomplish something.
If you just want to experience it then I say go for it but I don’t think protesters have much impact. Dubs are trained to look away fast.
I saw a post a while ago about a Mormon throwing the JW’s protest about the Mormon leadership back in their face since theirs isn’t much different.
Maybe you could pretend to be Mormon or some other religion and hold up signs highlighting things those religions do that the dubs would complain about but that they actually do too.
Maybe they wouldn’t be so averse to stuff it it wasn’t specifically “apostate”.

Really bizarre part on the meeting last night
by stillin inon the service meeting there was a part covering a couple of pages from the tms guidebook chapter on warmth and feeling.
rather than coaching the r&f on how to make a school talk sound warm, it focused on the people that jws meet in their ministry.
basically, the part could have been labelled "how to fake warmth and feeling.

So sad, you would think that people in the one true religion would automatically be or do these things.
If you saw someone in danger and you could safely help, most people would jump to help. But these people "believe" the end of the world is right around the corner and that everyone but them is going to be dead, gone forever. Not only do they think they have the answer for these soon to be dead but they believe they are the only ones that have the answer. Yet they need coaching in the most basic of human emotions. Doesn't this kind of prove lack of faith?
This religion not only has no love, but if you happened to have any when you joined it will be driven out of you.
How are you supposed to allow yourself to have warmth for somone at the door when you believe that any day now they may be dead.

Wow how well that illustrates the transformation.
You looked like one of those elders that took things way too seriously.

New low for Watchtower Society: slips below North Korea on the scum index!
by BluePill2 inif you have been following the news these days, you maybe have seen images like this one:.
heart breaking stories about people that where separated from their relatives for over 60 years.
i've seen an interview with a crying old man, saying that he fears that he will not be able to recognize his sister or that he will not have any feelings for her, because of the many years and the indoctrination by the north korean regime.. all of this reminded me of the watchtower society.

The sadest part is that your sister probably believes what she said was loving
I know when I was in I could see myself saying things like that and feeling proud of it.
For a religion that claims to have love they sure do a lot to destroy any natural affection between people.

Your comment made me think how the dubs claim that they DF to keep the congregation clean but all it really does is force the "unclean" people to secretly remain and, likely and hopefully, become negative influence on the congregation they are trying to protect.

On a Scale of 1 to 10---How Devoted Were You To Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inas i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.

hmm well at the time I would have said a 10 but looking back I was never very passionate about it and it was alays a struggle rather than a joy.

I am having trouble believing in God...
by thedepressedsoul ini was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.

I 100% agree with your three points.
My current belief is that if there is a god he can't be explained in book written thousands of years ago. Especially when you consider how much more we know now than the writers of that book knew. And 10000 years from now we will probably be lauging at the things we thought were true in 2014.
Or the reverse where the earth gets hit by a giant metorite and starts over.
I sometimes wonder what people of the future, digging through the rubble from our time, will think when they find a treadmill or a nautilus machine.
