it's been a few months since i've been here, so i thought i'd stop in and say hello.
i also wanted to to tell you a story about my jw mother's behavior at my worldly aunt's funeral.
this isn't a post of any educational value, just a post for me to rant, so read on if you would like.. about two weeks ago, i attended a funeral for my aunt julie who, after suffering with cancer for about two years, lost her battle with the disease and passed away.
As with every aspect of jw bla bla one has to wonder what is wrong with saying the Lord's Prayer with people of other beliefs? Apart from the jw desire to make a complete dick of yourself everywhere you go, what is wrong with a prayer, which they quote in service: "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" and doesn't conflict in anyway with JW beliefs? When there is no real reason for being awkward, it's called 'bloody mindedness' isn't it?

while i understand the attention given to the 20 seconds of comments by jarcz and the damning arrogance he displayed, his role on panorama was not important.. the strength, the courage of the victims that spoke up on that show.
the raw courage it must have taken to back into the room under the house, to stand in front of a camera and talk about these despicable acts perpetrated against them, that was the most important thing.. i take my hat off and deeply respect the courage it took for these survivors, (i loved the sound clip from the candlelight vigil, regarding victim vs. survivor) to stand up and roar.. congrats to all involved in standing up to the borg.
as a caution tho, to all those that remain silent do not feel you have to become an advocate and media star in order to heal.
Hey Kismet, snap!!!! On the question of what Jaracz meant by not going beyond what is written asked by Englishman, you and I had the same answer. I hadn'd read yours when I posted mine. I think you and I are soooooooooo incredibly perceptive I'm sure we're right though. He just gets a bit confused about the gospel as written by the WTS and the Bible. Well done us!!!!

how do you justify keeping a list of paedophiles, men in some cases who have confessed to paedophilia but you have not reported them to an authority.
what justification is there for you to keep that?

I think Jaracz was saying they've already written down in their publicity speel what their policy is. He's probably a tad confused about what is in the Bible and what is written by the WT (same thing to him). So he is saying don't go beyond what is written - meaning: what the WT publicity department has written. Geez what is wrong with you people? Don't you understand nuffin?

one of the positive things about this board is the ability to express opinions and feelings.have you ever felt guilty for doing or saying something because of witness ignorance?
i remember many years ago disfellowshipping a terminally ill older woman because she chose to live with her disfellowshipped "apostate" daughter who was caring for her.
this still haunts me and makes me realize the unbelievable power elders can have.
OH god. I'm disfed for apostasy and my mother is dying - she isn't living with me, but my dad might come and live with me when she goes. I think I'm the only one he feels really comfortable with (I'm the only one not a Witness .......huh!). It's all so distressing - this death thing, and having anyone add burdens like disfellowshipping and shunning to what is already overwhelmingly difficult is just too much. Unless you experience something in your own life, you cannot fully appreciate the difficulties involved.
Yeah I feel tremendous guilt for bringing a number of people into the wacko cult (I believe it is a cult). I did what I thought was right at the time. I have to live with my conscience.

Steady on SS. I'm staying out of it. I just wanted to know if you are going to put this new realplayer tpae on windows like Simon did yesterday - for some reason my husband recently downloaded the latest version of realplayer and now the ************ thing doesn't work. As I'm the only one in the house for the next week and I'm a complete computer moron, I could only get the windows version of panorama to work yesterday.
Btw has anyone picked up on this comment on the BBC site?

Too little, too late. Why couldn't the WT officials approached on Panorama give the interviewer a few moments to hear out the accusations and answer them openly then? The Press Release is just too fool those already sucked in.

i would also like to add that i have left her personally negative comments in the text because i have nothing to hide about my relationship w/my kids or my family and will have no regrets when the worms come.....nuff said!

Geez Valis, Why don't you stop hitting your head against a brick wall? It will feel so good when you stop. (an attempt at humor). You have just provided me with a timely reminder as to why I never write to my three jw siblings about their choice to be drones for 'hovah! That reply was truly shocking. Lately I have been wording a long overdue letter to one of my brothers. Thank your for showing me that I'm caughting a senseless, irrational, illogical, demented attack, liberally dosed with denial. I liked your reply back. I always find it interesting that JWs can read a critical review of any number of political or corporate problems and understand every nuance of the situation. BUT present them with a critical review of the WTS and their brains turn to mush! Sheesh.

It is hard to believe that Witnesses can dismiss the information so completely - yet they have no reservations believing that Catholic children are molested by Catholic clery. They have been the first to jump on the band wagon and use the pedophile problem in the Catholic church, as a sign of a false religion. BUT oh no, JW children are lying because JW men don't do that sort of thing. You kinda need to view the program to understand the depth of their denial. As it was pointed out by one policeman; Witnesses, don't believe the children, they don't believe the mothers, they don't believe the police they don't believe the jury, and they don't believe the judge. They just believe themselves.
If you get an opportunity, ask you father why he finds it so easy to believe Catholic children are molested and impossible to believe JW children are?
