  My daughter called this am/after 3yrs

  iam pleased to report, my jw daughter called me this morning.. needless to say i was thrilled to hear from her.

  as many of you know to well, it is a small blessing, but huge when it's coming from an active jw.. i have decided to leave off talking anything jw related, and just enjoy getting caught up on the latest in her life.. there is hope.. danny

  :::::::::Are you enjoying your continent swapping? I can now truthfully say I have a friend in the 'jet set'.

  Danny, Continent swapping sucks! It's a cold winters nite here in Melbourne and I've only got a hot water bottle to keep me warm!! Life is too short to be separated from the ones you love - especially the ones who love you back!! No I've not seen my niece again, but she probably thinks in 'hovah's time span!!! And besides, what's the hurry when your've got forever?

  Great to see you here and hope your daughter keeps calling her wonderful dad!

  Danny, Where have you been? I have missed you! I know how thrilled you must be to hear from your daughter. Very wise to leave the dub stuff alone. She may work it out on her own faster than you telling her about it. I had an unexpected visit from a niece in the troof last year and there was nooooooooo way I was going to mention dub stuff. I was just so excited to be spending time with her, studying her face and mannerisms for familial resemblence. Unreal! It might be crumbs at the table, but it's better than the nothing I'm accustomed to.

  Why Are People Here So Disrespectful At Times?

  eu has noticed that a number of persons making up this forum are guilty of showing disrespect to jehovah's witnesses.

  some refer to jws as 'hovahs and others talk about kingdumb hells, all the time professing to follow christ.. some may justify their rude behavior by saying that jws themselves can be rude.

  even if the charge is true, and eu is not really convinced that it is, why cannot ex-jws rise above the fray?

  Another Watchtower Lie?

  application of "two witnesses" in the congregation.

  "the assertion has been made that jehovah's witnesses take no action when an allegation of child abuse comes to the attention of the elders unless the accusation is verified by two separate witnesses, and that's just simply not true.".

  page 108 and 109 of the pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock (elders manual), contains the following instructions:.

  lying about their own procedures. Nowhere do I find any exclusion from the two
  witnesses for any reason, much less child abuse.

  It's like on that radio program recently when JR Brown was asked if the Org "discourages" voting? Brown said "NO"! Followed by 5 minutes of waffle about God's Kingdom - that only a Jdub could understand to mean ABSOLUTELY NO VOTING.

  Geez I must be dumb coz I really don't understand this need for deception. What happened to "let your yes mean yes and your no mean no"? They should have the courage of their convictions, after all, isn't Jehovah himself directing the preaching work?

  Some seemed disappointed

  while the majority of post dateline comments were positive there have been a few comments by some who seemed a little let down.

  i guess perhaps they understandably expected enough earth shattering information to be exposed on dateline to cause kingdom hall burnings.. i don't know if there will ever be anything that emerges publicly that will cause jw cult followers to leave en masse.

  but since the wts is built upon converting one person or one family at a time, i'm satisfied for it to be weakened one person or family at a time.. in the early 1980's my father, who was a huge defender of the witnesses, a true believer, began to have some subtle things that bothered him about the way elders were dealing with congregation members and some of the double lifestyles that many jw's were leading.. he took the attitude initially that jehovah would clear all things up and well, if this wasn't the truth, where were we to turn?

  drahcir yarrum, I enjoyed your story. I haven't seen the Dateline program yet, as I live in Australia. I never expected it to be earth shattering. Those who are deeply under the jw spell, will not rationalise the information in the normal way. But those who are having problems with doubts will have to add it to their too hard basket to be delt with eventually. I know for my own situation, which took place in the late 70's, I tried to live with the doubts for a long time, until they completely overwhelmed me. I'm sure the program will help some witnesses - and too bad for the rest! :-(

  Vi's Essay......

  hi everyone.. as i think about all the conversations and laughs i've had here over the last six months, it makes me smile.

  there are some very genuine, loving people here and i wish you all a wonderful future no matter what you choose to do.. although i have had some terrible experiences with the witnesses, i can't ignore what i feel.

  i love jehovah and if i have to associate with the wtbts so be it!

  Hi Violet, I think you are doing the right thing. I see this as moving in with a guy before you commit to marrying him. The only way to find out what he is really like eh? I'm confident that you have a good head on your shoulders and that once immersed in the Troof you will see the problems for yourself. I myself always had to learn the hard way. You'll be OK! Just one little piece of advice;

  Bite your tongue every time you feel the hypnosis dragging you under deeper - so you will be able to remember reality.

  I am not like the people on this board. We are not like each other. We are all very different. The only thing we have in commong is that we once attended the same church.

  Dawn, I don't think you win any brownie points for being a born again Christian. JWs hate exjws, no matter what they are. They don't make exceptions for good, kind, caring, hardworking, generous, nice, or christian people - like many of the people here.

  OK, heres the deal, whoever gets a tape first is "it". They get to host the party. How many of you have multi system VCR's? I know ours plays American tapes coz I've tried it out on one. I know the kind hearted Americans are talking about converting them for us, but if your VCR is multi system then it doesn't need the conversion - it just needs a stamp!!!!!

  So Refiners, when were you on the tele?

  A Witness's Reaction

  i communicate with a sister in the congregation, well, last night she called and saw the interview.

  her comments were, "if i were not a witness i would tell the next jw calling at my door to get the hell of the property.

  she could relate to the story because she knew of a pedophile in her congregation and nothing was ever done about by the elders.

  Is this a private party, or can anyone join in???? Refiners I've been negotiating all day to get a copy of Dateline just so I could invite you over to see it on my multi system VCR - and now you tell me you couldn't care less. Bloody hell! Eight hours of my life I will never get back!!
