An elder said those exact words to me! So funny. I didn't know it was a universal saying 😂

"You Can Do Just Enough Ministry To Dislike It"
by pale.emperor inwhen you were "in" did you ever actually enjoy the ministry?
and i made no secret about it.
instead i would joke about me feather knocking, and made sure i had my bible in hand so as they come to the door they know what im about so they can shut me down before i even start.. i always wondered how or why there were people who enjoyed it.

According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.
by Bonsai ini asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.

None of those 3 reasons for me. I simply stopped believing. It started with niggles, but then I had more and more doubts until I couldn't take it anymore. I was in such turmoil with heart vs head. My head won. Now I'm so much happier without it. Yes I have pangs of 'what if' moments but I think that's 38 years of brainwashing coming to the surface!

Shunning of Inactive ones- JW Broadcast
by Theburstbubble ini've heard the new take on shunning inactive ones.
i've seen the videos from the assemblies, but a few have mentioned that it was in a broadcast.
does anyone know which broadcast it was, or a link to that section...i really don't want to have to watch the whole thing!.

I suppose it's nothing new is it really as we were always told to stop association anyway with those who left. But apparently it was a strong message in the broadcast. -

There has been a specific broadcast on it. We have had friends who have now been cut off from their family because of it. My niece (who is still in) also mentioned it to me but she couldn't remember if it was last months or the months before. I just wondered if someone had seen it or had a snippet from that broadcast rather than me having to watch numerous broadcasts which I really don't want to do!
But the video was very specific about shunning inactive ones. You can still be polite with them but have no association at all with them. All in the name of 'love' my friends!!!

New study - JWs by far the least educated religious group in Canada, Australia and New Zealand
by slimboyfat inthe religion of the educated classes revisited: new religions, the nonreligious, and educational levels - james r. lewis .
the measure lewis uses to compare religious groups is what percentage of members of the respective religions have graduated from college.
the findings are similar to the results of the pew survey in the united states.

Well no surprises there. My kids education was the major reason I left. It was bad enough that I threw my own education down the drain but I wasn't got to let my kids do the same!
They may go on to be a shop assistant or a gardener but that's their choice!

Welcome. All I will say is research, research and research some more.
it takes a long time to take it all in so do it slowly! There's no rush.

How would the world be different if there were no JWs?
by JW_Rogue ini think this would be a great question to ask active jws.
they love to say how the world would be so different if everyone was a jw.
however, what if we flip the question and ask, would the world really be much different if the jw faith never came into existence?
