Thats extrordinary! Tony Adams is associated with Arsenal - a football club, or soccer as you probably call it.
e-mans bbq was unbelievable!!!.
we had the most wonderful time meeting about 16 people from this board and the locals from e-mans pub.
i am so glad we made the trip.

Critisizing the New World Translation is just a smoke screen. Jehovahs Witnesses manage perfectly well twisting any version of the bible. They used the King James for a long time. The complete NWT has only been around since 1961.
what were you like as a jw and how does that compare to now?.
were you an elder , min servant(if a bloke)or, pioneer, regular publisher ,iregular , almost never there?.
now what are you like as an apostate?very active as one, quite active or not much bothered.. are you as zealous in the opposite sense, as you were as a witness or have you changed?.
ballistic Yes, it was "I know it's the truth so lets get this baptism over with and sorted!" Then when it came to it, I got the serious doubts. I kinda dismissed them later thinking it was Satan having his "last go to stop me making the dedication". Can you understand that logic?!
A thought: If you really love someone, and they are cheating behind your back, does this then make you hate them even more when you find out about it than you would if you never really loved them that much anyway? I can't see how anyone who never really "made the truth their own" could be as angry as someone like me who bought it hook line and sinker.

Ballistic, I remember your thoughts on the way that the majority of us, being zealous witnesses, make a mockery of the 'Satan picking the "weak" ones out from the fringes of the congregation' argument!
As you know sleepy, I'm just a closet apostate at the moment! Apart from the time when I was getting baptised, when I unfortunately had just a momentary lapse of faith (I remember thinking "What the hell am I doing!", while answering the questions!), I have always been a pretty zealous JW. I think I will be an equally zealous apostate too when I finally leave.
have you ever sung alternative lyrics to kingdom songs during a meeting or a convention?
to qualify they have to sound very similar to the actual words so you can get away with it without too much attention being drawn to yourself.

looking after us on sunday at englishman's bbq.
i just wanted you all to know how much personally i really appreciated you looking after us in your town.
it's all taking a few days to take the whole experience in, it struck me tonight however, how much, from your behalf, how you helped to make the whole afternoon and evening so enjoyable an experience by sharing with us such a great time.
Spot on invisible. The locals were brilliant hospitable bunch. I was quite overwhelmed by it all!
I think its amazing how innocuous most non-JWs see JWs as being, that's my experience anyway. But thanks to E'man it's great that all those wonderful switched-on "never-been-JWs" will now stay never beens, and make sure all their loved ones know the score as well!

I understand that Prince has signed over all the rights to his old songs to the Watchtower Society, so expect a new song book soon. I think the song "New Position" must be about becoming an Elder.

However, there are one or two I think are not too ghastly. One of which is "Proof of Discipleship", which goes "Through the love that must be shown, All true Christians can be known, Christ displayed love perfectly, Proved to all his loyalty". I think the song is rather sweet and I'm sure, because it mentions Jesus, the writer has probably been disfellowshipped by now!!
