I remember when the speakers were removed from my congregations kingdom hall toilets to prevent people from lingering in them. Also, speakers are not installed in the concourse outside conventions to stop people wandering around too much during the sessions. It's control-freakery at it's extreme!

This happened at Twickenham convention in London as well. It outraged my family too! I remember a brother saying that many of the sisters were "too vain" and "spent too long in the toilets". For the same reason you will find that mirrors are generally not within toilets at circuit assembly halls, they place the mirrors outside of the toilets so that any "preening" is done in full view of the other conventioneers!

The way the speakers go on you would surmise that they actually know that the Watchtower Society has got it all hopelessly wrong wouldn't you? As long as the flock are terrified to examine any objective opinion on the Bible and Watchtower Society teachings there is little hope for any of them waking up from their stupor.
just wondering... with all this hot weather we're having at the moment (92 in wsm, which for the uk is as hot as it gets), are sisters still expected to wear tights - that's pantyhose btw - to the meetings and when out in the ministry?.
her ladyship says that only old dears wear tights in summer anyway.. so, what is the current permitted apparel for sisters?
are trousers now allowed?
Culottes are the design of Satan. He is the great deceiver and so are the Jezebels that wear them, pretending they are wearing skirts when they are actually wearing pants! Jehovah designed trousers to remind women of their subjective place in God's arrangement, hence the phrase "wearing the pants in the family". A woman who wishes to "wear the pants" is not showing respect for that arrangement and should be disciplined in the congregation!

There is still a ban on trousers/pants for sisters. I have never met one sister, even the most staunch toe-the-line fanatical zealous ones, that ever thought that the ban made any sense whatsoever. I have not heard any stipulation about tights/pantyhose though.
Brothers still have to wear a suit as well, but they are allowed to remove their jacket if they are not assigned - so brothers have to give talks and handle the roving mikes with their jacket on. It was bloody stifling in the KH yesterday! What I do just to keep my family sweet, huh?!

I know plenty of people that have stopped going to the meetings because of some fracas with another member of the congregation, but still consider the Jehovah's Witnesses as the one true religion. I feel very sad for them as they have no support anywhere - they are shunned by their "brothers and sisters" but equally shun ex-witnesses themselves.
