One band guaranteed to scare any true-blue dubbie out of their wits - especially when they perform "666, The Number of the Beast"! Wasn't there some urban legend about all kinds of mayhem taking place while they recorded that song?

Iron Maiden rumour
by stapler99 ini wonder if anyone has heard of this, or whether it is completely made up... the story is that iron maiden (the rock band) took pictures from the revelation book and put them on their album covers, and were therefore threatened by the wts lawyer dept., demanding that they sent them the covers to be destroyed.
.
i don't know why im would want to plagarize the smelly revelation book anyway ;-)

That's a rather loaded question. I'm sure you know she isn't - she's just expressing an internationalist point of view as the the_classicist rightly said.

convention association
by candidlynuts ini havent been to a convention since..................99?
the last few i went to i remember a lot of people commenting on how hard it was to visit with other witnesses.
a lot of people were disgruntled and irritated about it.. the convention doors didnt open till about an hour before the session started... so you had time to find your seat and get your kids settled.. no time to visit others... also our seats were assigned.. we were told to sit with our congregation in a specific section that we were assigned to clean.. so we were just around our regular congregation.

Remember the Panorama programme on JWs a few years ago? Question
by evergreen inyes, many will remember the panorama programme shown on channel 4 (uk) a few years ago.
the one that highlighted the child abuse scandal and the disgusting manner in which the borg deals with it.
then when the letter was read out to the congregations a week or so later addressing this issue by dismissing the programme by simply saying that two witnesses were needed before a person could make an accusation.

In the United Kingdom everyone has the right to make a formal complaint about any TV or Radio programme they consider has made incorrect or unfair statements. The current body to contact for such complaints is Ofcom (http://www.ofcom.org.uk). Before 2003 however it was The Broadcasting Standards Commission who handled such matters. If any complaint is upheld – wholly or in part - the adjudication has to be shown and read by the broadcaster concerned in a similar time slot to when the programme was first aired. The Everyman documentary had such an announcement, the Panorama documentary did not. If any complaints were officially made about the Suffer the Little Children Panorama none were upheld (i.e. found to be warranted) as no apology has been given by the BBC over the content of the programme.

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/bsc/pdfs/bulletin/bulletin27.pdf Everyman: Sleeping with the Enemy BBC1, 13 December 1998 The Broadcasting Standards Commission has partly upheld a complaint from the Jehovah’s Witnesses about Sleeping with the Enemy, an edition of Everyman about the relationship between religion and conflict, broadcast on BBC1 on 13 December 1998. The programme included an interview with a man whose marriage to a Jehovah’s Witness had broken down because of religious differences. The Commission considered that viewers should have been informed of the source of film and cartoon material broadcast in the programme, to avoid giving the impression that this was currently used by the Jehovah’s Witnesses. It also considered that the juxtaposition of the footage and the interview sensationalized and over-simplified Jehovah’s Witness beliefs. In these respects the Commission found unfairness to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In other aspects of the complaint, the Commission found no unfairness. It considered that there was no need for the Jehovah’s Witnesses to have been given the chance to comment on the personal story about the marriage breakdown. The Commission did not consider that comments made in the programme about political leaders perverting the message of religion for their own ends was aimed at the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Accordingly, the complaint was upheld in part. Upheld in part

There certainly was a formal apology broadcast for a BBC programme about the Witnesses, but it was not Panorama - it was another BBC documentary shown some years before.
