1975 was the biggest blunder in JW history. It caused many good folks to leave the organization. Our family came into the truth in 1974, but we were not affected by the expectations, I think my parents were very realistic and knew what the Bible said about not knowing the date nor the hour. Unfortunately that was not the case with many. I believe this was a tactic of Satan and many bit into it, even brother Franz. It really made the organization look bad, but Jehovah let it happen for a reason. I don't know the reason, but have my own conclusions.

1975 End of World!!
by Rags indoes anyone have any personal experiences as to the effects that the 1975 end of the world announcement had on them??.
for starters..i was a 7 years old little girl in 1972 when they were starting to announce it...i remember my dad buying 5 foot long cheese (we are italian)...about 100 salami's...because they said we would first suffer with the starvation and all that and needed to be prepared for it.....also i remember every thunderstorm my mom would run to the window and yell..."maybe this is it..maybe this is the end of the world starting!!
"...and one day i literally got so scared that i locked myself in the cellar and shit my little pants.

YoYO Mama a Hypocrite?
by JT inone of the most interesting thing that seems to happen to a loyal jw who comes onto a site like this is that by default they become hypocrites.. now for many of us we were at least willing to "concede" that we were hypocrites for being here, but then you go those "others" who just can't admit it about themselves>.
i thought this post by yoyo mama is very interesting as he resoundly dogs a person, yet this poster does the very thing that he condemns.
only a jw could do this and think everything is ok:.

Well I haven't been on the board since yesterday afternoon.
amccoullough says:
Mavman,
Yes I missed that comment. Sorry about that. My bad. I reread the article although hard to read. Obviously if he confessed, then the girl was telling the truth.
It was not just her word against his. According to the article, he pleaded guilty to indecent acts on his daughter AND another girl. This man admitted guilt in a court of law for two seperate accounts. You don't get much more conclusive than that. For all those that love calling names such as troll, idiot and all that just because I question something, that's just plain stupid on your part.
A simple explenation like amccullough's is enough.
Thanks amc.

Any sincere and objective person would ask the same question. It's a valid one.

I know I'll get some heat for this, but how do you know if the woman is telling the truth? It's just her word against his.

The WTBTS will eventually pay for their crimes...
But the question is, will you pay for yours?
Thi: You are not good at reasoning eh? Read verse 15 once again, see the connection between being sick (spiritually sick) and then "if the person had sinned"?
Regarding Paul and Barnabas. You are just using the wrong example. Barnabas had an argument with Paul, this happens all the time with human beings, but Barnabas never questioned the fact that Paul was an apostle and being used by Jehovah.

If everyone should follow Paul’s instructions for disfellowshipping as you state, then why not an “appointment?”
The appointment was not an official appointment. Paul, obviously accepted Mark and saw his value, for he mentions him as a loyal servant of Jehovah.
The bible states to confess your sins to one another, not just the “elders.”
You have misread that scripture. A few verses back, James was talking about going to the elders. So following the line of logic, the confessing the sins with one another referred to confessing the sins to elders not to just anyone. Here is the scripture:
13Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Nowhere in the bible does it place elders in a privileged class to hear your “case.”
In the Corinthian congregation, who were responsible for removing the wrongdoer from the congregation?1 Corinthians 6:4, 5 says "4If you have legal disputes about such matters, why do you go to outside judges who are not respected by the church? 5I am saying this to shame you. Isn't there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these arguments? "
Galatians 6;1 says "1Dear brothers and sisters, if another Christian[1] is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. "
Obviously someone had to hear that persons "case". Who better to do it, than those that had the appointment as elders.

1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 (New Living Translation)
9Don't you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 10thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.
Romans 1:26, 27 (New Living Translation)
26That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved.

AjaxMan:
we don't read mind therefore, we don't know if it's biblical.
You don't have to read my mind, I'm telling you that it was biblical. What makes it a biblical DF'ing?
The fact that Jehovah mentioned the particular sin I committed in the Bible. How does the JC know whether the DF'ed person is repentant???
This is a tough thing to do, because they cannot read the heart. But some signs show evidence of this, specially our attitude. My attitude for example was very uncaring. At the time, I did not care about myself, my family nor the congregation, thus showing that I was not repentant. Also I did not abandon my sinning path right away. So I was disfellowshipped.Reborn2002:
