I want that shriek in .wav format so that I can use it for one of my windows sounds. I'm sure someone has it in that format and I'll find it later myself if no one knows where it is off the top of their head.

Racism and Violence in Indiana
by little witch inindiana has seemingly become a hotbed of racism and violence.
you may remember the wacked out fella that shot an innocent man coming out of the korean church on the bloomington iu campus a couple of years ago?
he (the shooter)was a member of the worldwide church of god ran by the nut from illinois.

Perhaps the Homeland Security Department needs to get busy fighting some of the terrorist that are already on our soil.
I grew up in a small town about an hour east of Memphis. It was well known that the father of the principal of my elementary school was a member of the KKK. But as people have mentioned, the KKK was not viewed as much of a threat there. Mostly a lot of bark and no bite. My school principal, while not particularly nice, never exhibited any symptoms of racism and was always a straight and fair person. There was a little grocery on the corner in town (Now closed) that was also known not to accept black customers and a bar-b-cue place that black people never went inside although they might order from the window. That's the way it was when I left and I wouldn't be surprised if it is still that way.
Where I live now, over the past few months, I've seen some swatikas grafitti in a few places, but you can expect that to pop up occasionally. There's also the graffiti from gangs of various ethnic groups. The worst racial violence I heard about around here in the past few years was right after 9-11 when people were attacking Muslim places of worship or anyone wearing a turban or traditional Middle Eastern clothing. That died down after people calmed down, but it never should have happened. Obviously its an ongoing problem in some areas.

Just to add one more testimony. I remember going to at least a couple, one for my great-grandfather and one for my aunt. My dad was an elder when we went to those. My dad actually gave a little talk without mentioning JW, but mentioning a russurection hope, for an aunt by marriage. My uncle was and has been DF for years and my aunt had been inactive ever since. Then there was one funeral where we waited outside. I don't know what the difference was at that time.
I've never been to a wedding in a church.

Did you ever feel at peace at a Kingdom Hall?
by Singing Man inonly a few times when i was in my late teens about the time of when armagedon was suposed to happen in 75 did i ever feel at peace.
the rest of the time i felt on edge and like my life was slipping away.
i also have felt like that if i had the realization that i was real close to jehovah or jesus, or just was spiritual in general i felt ashamed for it somehow.

Yes, for most of my life I did. I was raised as a JW, so it was all I knew. If I had no duties, I could sit, relax and listen to the indoctrination and feel as if that was the TRUTH and everything would someday be alright even outside of the KH. The last few months there as I began to realize it was all not true, I was not at peace. For a while, I thought that perhaps it would have been possible to play the JW game for the rest of my life while doing my own thing in my private life. However that would have put a lot of pressure on me. After you know that almost everything they say from the platform is crap, it gets kind of hard to sit there for 4-5 hours a week listening to it and then be expected to say things agreeing with the whole untruth.

Have you gained weight since leaving the Borg?
by badwillie inwell, sadly i have.
probably like 15 pounds or so.
i feel like shit physically.

Fortunately, no. One of the things I planned to do with the time I recaptured after leaving the JW and no longer doing field service and meetings was to start doing more exercise. Unfortunately, I haven't been very consistent and I am at about the same weight. I did lose about 10 lbs a few months after I left, but I'm back around my original weight now. I gained about 40 lbs after I left home and started working and while I was a JW. But that had little to do with being a JW and more to do with the fact that I now spend 8 hours a day sitting at a desk. It is easy to spend those free evenings I have now sitting watching tv and munching on something. I'm on a good exercise routine swing now. Hopefully, I can keep it going.

Well, do ya?
by onacruse inlol, i just thought i'd start a thread in this rather quiet forum, to see what happens!
man, i work my butt off every day, swinging a hammer and scratchin' my head...what other physical activities do i need?.
craig.

Well if physical activity is a part of your normal daily routine or job, maybe you don't need any more physical activity. I was in the best shape of my life when I worked part-time at night as a cargo handler doing a lot of lifting and fast paced moving of packages for one of the overnight freight companies. I probably could have used some cardio however. Maybe you do want to add some cardio if your job already provides all the weight lifting you need. Before our society moved into a sedentary lifestyle, there was no need for health clubs or fitness centers. Physical activity was just a part of life.
Now for a sexual comment. I have noticed lately a few news reports about the health benefits of sex. For example, on the tv news two nights ago, it was reported that regular sex can reduce the chances of getting prostrate cancer.

I passed over this thread several times thinking it was mainly for the ladies discussing proper contemporary fashion or something of that sort.
If I had to pick a favorite lingerie, I'd pick the baby doll. The kind that are attached or tightly held to the body only at the bosom level and maybe with a strap over the shoulder and that hang down at least halfway over the hips maybe just covering them. The butt area is slightly hidden but right there. Usually there's an opening in the front up to the bosom area so you can open and see the abdomen and whatever else. When I've bought them for my lady, they come with a thong.
That's just my favorite, but really anything revealing or nothing at all will do.
Editted to add, that second picture sally posted is an excellent example of my favorite type of lingerie.

How old were you when you left?
by somebodylovesme ini only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.

Baptized at 12. Started having more serious doubts at 24, left at 25. Honestly, certain things were unanswered in my mind for years before I was 24, but I always pushed them back.

Jury duty???
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini was just wondering if jury duty was considered taking part in the world.
i just found out that my mom had jury duty a few months ago and went!
i've never been a registered voter and thought you had to register to be called to jury duty.

I don't remember ever reading anything that would indicate this to be bad for JW. But knowing JW, it could be somewhere. As you stated since jury usually are pulled from voter registration, it rarely becomes and issue, but in the past week, I read in somewhere that some jurisdictions are starting to do jury selection from other lists like property tax lists or drivers license. And that really makes more sense if you really want a jury of peers.
