I know this was supposed to be funny, maybe? There were some humorous parts but oh, poor little boy. I have been out 30 years and I still find it sad to be reminded of what it was like. -

Imagine such a ridiculous reaction to a child having a birthday cake! Ask them what scripture says you cannot recognize someone's day of birth. Or why is it ok to have a baby shower cake but not a cake after the birth. Or why is it ok to celebrate a wedding anniversary but not a birth anniversary. Such stupid man made rules. So happy I didn't raise my child in the cult. -

Google "used books" and bring up all the usual sites. You can find several for $50 and up. I looked at Abe Books and there were quite a few there. Alibris is a good site too. Sometimes you have to wonder what some of the Amazon sellers are smoking with their crazy prices.
Whoa, just checked Alibris, too expensive. Check out Abe Used Books have them in the $50's.

Yes, it looks ridiculous, but in what context did they use this? Could you enlighten those of us who no longer see the actual magazine or have the stomach to go to jw.org (no way, no how!!) to read the article. Thanks. -

Well, unlike him, I only remember the picture of the earth splitting open and the little girl and dog falling down the crack. At the time, I was a little girl with a dog!😮 I have no recollection of what illustration was a few pages later. -

If the Governing Body members had to take a 'lie detector test' what questions would you recommend they are asked?
by Esse quam videri ini think it is reasonable for every leader or head of any organization that has control of peoples thinking and actions should, by law, submit to a lie detector test.
the results would be accessible to any one who had an interest in the matter.this test would be required before appointment to any position and on a yearly basis.
questions could be submitted to a competent and unbiased committee for approval.

What would be really funny to watch is if each time the machine detected a lie it gave a big jolt! Bazinga!!

Very Offensive Statement Directed To JW Parents-Watchtower 4/15/2015 Page 11 Paragraph 9
by JW GoneBad inwt is insinuating, worse yet, blaming senior jw parents for there not being more younger brothers reaching out to be ministerial servants and elders.
page 11 paragraph 9 reads as follows: .
"elders in affluent lands may face an added challenge: how to motivate baptized brothers in their 20s or 30s to get involved in congregation activities.

And the "senior" parents of these 20 and 30 somethings are the generation who grew up in the 60's and 70's who were told not to get any higher education because this old system wouldn't be around long enough for them to finish. Now these same "senior" parents are facing retirement with no real savings from working menial jobs. Perhaps they didn't want the same uncertain future to befall their children so they encouraged them to do more than sell magazines door to door.. I know in my own family, 2 of my cousins (both elders) have kids who went to college. And pleeeease, adults do what they want, in the real world you don't tell adult children what to do or make decisions about their higher education. The society acts as though you dictate to your children all their lives. Some just aren't cut out to be drones! -

There are cases out there like azor, a parent now out of the cult who is grateful the courts stepped in. Does anyone know for a fact of an instance of a now adult person who was given blood as a child by court order, and whose parents are still in and the child given the transfusion is now out? Sorry if that sounds confusing. Anyway, just wonder how that would strain a parent-child relationship. Or if the child is still in, are they secretly happy for the court's intervention. -

Simon, Oui monsieur, but I do love Canada. One of the few times I enjoyed a convention was back in the 70's, we went to one in Ottawa. Of course I loved the sightseeing more than the sessions! -

Yeah, the point is that the JW was unwilling and unprepared to answer a basic question on Christian doctrine. If people start quoting scriptures to them they are taken by surprise.
