What is the % of Born-Agains Christians that tell you "Trinity" or else die
by booker-t ini know this might sound abit "harsh" but i think it is time ex-jw's, new born agains, or people just interested in the bible put a stop to this "believe"in the trinity doctrine or go to eternal flames" madness.
alot of innocent young one are being emotional damaged by this burn in hell fiasco.
just like the wts "no blood"policy and if you take a blood transfusion you will be announced "no longer one of jw's" and shunned by your family and friends, the hell fire doctrine does alot of damage to the innocent mind on several levels.

Simple answer: steer clear of the fundies.
If only I could. LOL. As soon as I can afford to buy my personal island in the Carribean I'll have a fundy-free life.
Become quite sensitized to controlling "fundies" after leaving the JWs I began to notice this zealot streak in all groups: religious, political, in the workplace, in recreational groups. It's not just a personality trait of religion. It's a product of the general human condition. People are zealous about stupid beliefs because it is in their own perceived interest, desire and emotional needs to be that way. The only way to avoid this is to go find a mountain top somewhere with a private little cave. Even the people who hate fundies can be so dogmatic as to be unreasonable.
I do find there is a small percentage of people in my non-denominational church where fundyism instead of love is the controlling operator in their makeup. But these same people would be fanatical in something else if religion were no part of their lives. Fanatical Democrats and Republicans bother me more.

I saw the movie United 93
by pratt1 in.
as i mentioned in an earlier post, i went to see the movie united 93 with a group of friends who were with me at the wtc on 9/11.. first, i encourage all of you who feel that you are ready to see this reenactment as a movie, to see it.
because it is on a wide screen and most of the film takes place in the traffic controller's offices and the inside of the plane, you get the feeling of actually being part of the action.. the film tells the story of how the traffic controllers, military, and the passengers of the plane realized that what started out as a few planes missing from radar turned into a delibrate terrorist attack on our government.. filmed in what seemed to be almost real time you see how people went from bewilderment, panic to resolve and of course eventually the actual tradgey.. it is quite heartwenching watching the passengers realize that they were going to die, and how many of them communicated with their loved ones, leaving them with messages of love and resolve.. i hope i haven't given too much away.. it really makes you realize that an unforeseen occurrence can alter your life forever.

I think films like this serve a good purpose. You get to experience your own death in a small way, and then you pass through it. Hopefully instead of being terrified by the inevitable conclusion everyone must face, you are clarified as to what is most important in life.
This film deliberately avoids being explicitely violent. For example, when the pilots are stabbed or the stewardess is murdered you see little detail. It is not like a slasher flick. This is minimalistic violence. What you do feel is the tension of the people trapped in a situation where they have little hope. Loads and loads of tension of people who know their time is very short.
And I kept thinking, what in the hell would I do if I was in that situation. What if it was the moment of my death and it just so happened I got to know it before it all came down? What would I do? Would I be paralyzed with fear? Would I act? Who do I love enough to call and tell them one last time, hey, I love you, don't think I'm going to make it out of this, but I love you and I want you to know that?
That's what makes this a film worth seeing.

Hey Dave,
One of the best parks in the whole metroplex is River Legacy Park in Arlington right off of I-30.
Miles of paved trail through overhanging trees. Really nice. So if you have a cache there, I'd say go for it.

Good film. What I really respect about it is it is no Hollywood version of what happened on that day. There is sparse use of music to try to pump up your emotions. The story is shown so matter of factly that you feel like you are watching a filmed version of the real events. There are no famous actors in the movie.
The film moves between basically four groups to tell its story: The people at air control, the military control center, the Arabs who took the plane, and the passengers.
The director is very effective at showing the cluster**** that resulted in communications between the people who made the decisions to handle the attack, their shock and their slow acceptance of the unbelievable, the passing of erroneous information which results in a catastrophic event of this magnitude. The Arab hijackers, at least to me, were victims also. Victims of a religion they were trained to hypnotize themselves with. In fact, the film opens with a black screen and you hear the chanting of their prayer as they ready themselves to begin their mission. And there is also the heroic bravery of the passengers who made a valiant attempt to take the plane back and charged the cockpit. They knew their chances were slim and they decided not to go quietly. They knew they had someone on the flight that was a pilot and could possibly fly the plane. They made a plan despite the hijackers screaming at them to sit down and be quiet, and then they made their move.
After you see this film you'll know what matters to you most in life.

OK believers, time to put up or shut up...
by Gregor inapparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.

Don't you get it?? It's ALL bullshit. What's the deal? You have to 'taper' off from your bullshit addiction? All you have to defend your "belief" is vague stuff like, "How could a banana have just evolved?" or some other trite crap.
Yes, I get it. You're an extremely happy person with excellent social skills.
