Elders visit today
by truthseeker1969 intwo kindly old gentlemen came to visit to see if i would like to come to the meetings againa.. i explained to them kindly the full circumstances for me leaving and that i had found information that disturbed me a great deal about the background wheeling and dealing within the society and that it was enough to make me have greater doubts about the authenticity of teachings given.. i told them that the cosietys stance towards those who leave and the labelling of "mentally diseased" and "sick" are words that would never come out of jehovahs mouth as he is god of pure love.. the kindly listened while i told them that i indeed miss the congregation and i knew how it was hard for those who know me to ignore me but that was proof enough that such a stance of shunning hurts even those who had nothing to do with any event that resulted in disfelowshipping.. i forcefully told them that those who are labelled as 'apostates" are not out to do anything to the congregation, they are simply people who can no longer believe what is being taught and freely expres, in the majority of cases, scriptural grounds for their disagreement.
many still hold fast to alot of techings as they want truth.. one of them smiled the whole way through the conversation, the other looked at me as if i was the devil!
i told them i respect them for the stance they take in their life but it equates to the stance i take that i will not be told what i believe is wrong and therefor should be accorded the same respect i give to them.. "what is worse?

Thank you all.
I have never and never will have anything against the congregation and I think that has a lot to do with being able to express the points I wanted to say. I decided that being angry helps nothing as then they claim victory over the "angry apostate".
I do genuinely love my former brothers and sisters as they are family and hold no grudge against them as they follow what they believe.
Believe me I wasnt that composed, i was nervous but not scared as I am no longer held by unseen bonds of fear, I live my life pretty much the same way I did when I was in the "truth" and have a deep and genuine love for all people, that is what helps deal with them.
Some come on here looking for a fight with them, I chose the opposite, it is more effective in making points.
The one elder that was smiling actually told me to have a good day and shook my hand. I think they know deep within that hatred is not a biblical way of dealing with things and that as I respected them, they respected me.
thank you all for your comments

Two kindly old gentlemen came to visit to see if I would like to come to the meetings againa.
I explained to them kindly the full circumstances for me leaving and that I had found information that disturbed me a great deal about the background wheeling and dealing within the society and that it was enough to make me have greater doubts about the authenticity of teachings given.
I told them that the cosietys stance towards those who leave and the labelling of "mentally diseased" and "sick" are words that would never come out of Jehovahs mouth as he is God of pure love.
The kindly listened while I told them that I indeed miss the congregation and I knew how it was hard for those who know me to ignore me but that was proof enough that such a stance of shunning hurts even those who had nothing to do with any event that resulted in disfelowshipping.
I forcefully told them that those who are labelled as 'apostates" are not out to do anything to the congregation, they are simply people who can no longer believe what is being taught and freely expres, in the majority of cases, scriptural grounds for their disagreement. Many still hold fast to alot of techings as they want truth.

I told them I respect them for the stance they take in their life but it equates to the stance I take that I will not be told what I believe is wrong and therefor should be accorded the same respect I give to them.
"what is worse?' I asked. "someone who goes along with a non belief just to be part of the congregation, or someone who walks away so they are not hypocritical"?
I closed the door.

Depression and Reinstatement efforts
by AuntBee inlong story, but i was talking online with someone who has been dfed for a long time, encouraging her to join a support group.
-- the person has been trying to get reinstated for years.

If she is repentant then there is nothing for her to worry about.
I think it is sad that Elders weild power but in the end if your friend wants to go back then that is her right but she may like to pointedly tell them that
1 they are not her salvation
2 their opinion while it may be based on a written rule does not supercede that of God
3 they will be held responsible before God for their willful spiritual neglect of her
4 to point to one passage of scripture that gives them the right to withhold fellowship
5 ask for another body of elders to hear her appeal this can be done through the branch office
6 tell them that never would God ever hurt his sheep beyond what they can bear
The list goes on.

There is a story of a congregatin buying a plot of land and selling it at the height of the boom and making a fortune.
That is just one that I have heard of. I be any money they had it taken off of them!
Merging congos saves money and means more land can be sold for a few more tax free dollars

The Visit
by truthseeker1969 intonight i got a visit by two elders i had contacted re my status in the congregation.. .
i explained that i was disfellowhsipped in absentia and that i wondered if since i was assumed to be guilty by not being there based on mis-information and an apology for assuming i was guilty did it mean that my disfellowshipping was null and void?.
(see my post why i was disfellowshipped).

truthseeker1969
Oh and now I discover that in fact I was never disfellowshipped and it was never announced and that i am welcome back.
They contacted my previous congregation and were told that I should have contacted them for this information and them alone and they would like to visit me. Hmmmm visit? I now live 6000 miles away and am happy with my lot in life.
I have nothing and I mean nothing against the rank and file witnesses at all and I have often said I love all those in my previous congregation.
However to accuse me of being gay with no evidence at all and persecuting my wife in that way is unacceptable.
Being in a gay bar renovating it on a daily basis because a brewery wanted it done is far different from being in a gay bar drinking and dancing with gay men. That was the original accussation to which I would not even give the justice of a reply too.
And no I have nothing against gay people, a number of my friends are gay, none of them good looking or I might switch lol. My wife is with me I am happy she is happy and we are now being left alone.
I am sure they will find something else to think of disfellowshipping me for but the threat of defamation hangs over there heads so maybe not.

Um well um well um, you should have attended since you would have been given the chance to state your case was the answer.
What case? I asked since you found me guilty based on an assumption and me answering honestly.
Well the procedure....
Oh yes the procedure i replied the one laid out finely in scripture to assume the guilt, find the guilt if possible and then when you discover you made a gross error say sorry like it never happened, and that is based on, hmmm the book of BS chapter 1 verse 10?
I can see you are bitter was the reply.
Nope not bitter, happy that I am a nobody and that I in my llife have never judged anyone or made them feel they are worthless and that is where my happiness will always be, Good day.
Oh well, was your disfellowshipping announced?
I have no clue was the reply as I was told to keep quiet about it.
Well....
Good day.

Question regarding baptism after disfellowshipping etc.
by truthseeker1969 insince the society believes that you are no longer a witness and that you can not carry your blood card or identity card, shouldn't your baptism be annulled automatically since you are not one of them.. since your baptism vows recognise you as "one of jehovahs witnesses' then when leaving it is voided and baptism would be needed again.. i assume they would deny this since it is yet another way of controlling you from coming back a free agent and starting again.. .
