many here have called for public judicial committees, which would indeed add to transparency.

but--every person deserves a measure of privacy, and to be able to keep their dirty laundry from public view.

why should everyone know the details of very personal matters, perhaps involving private struggles and family secrets?

What gets me is in the Uk they have the Data Protection act. this act forbids information being sent to non compliant countries about people.

do you think they comply?

do you think that 'teocratic warfare" lying to you and I apllies to them in this regard?

how many times have they violated an individuals right to privacy becasue they deem themselves high and mighty?

how many reputations have been ruined?

yet if they were in the situation it would be covered up so fast.

judicial committees are not found in the new testament period, only going to elders if you are spiritually sick, but what is that?

down with JC's and let God deal with matters!

What was funny and I am not sure if it is true or not, is one df'd brother returned attended meetings and applied for re-instatement. they formed a judicial committee and he informed them that he is now a constitutional lawyer with a speciality in religious abuse of rights. They apparently turned white and fled. All I know is that the society told them not to meet with him at all until further notice.

My sister was hauled before the elders when she divorced her husband and told them point blank that they have no control at all over anything she does and that she was cheated on and her husband has a kid to prove it, and it was up to her to decide to divorce not them. If they wanted to discuss it further then they could talk to her lawyer, they backed off.

Another brother who apprently recorded the whole JC on his phone and told them at the end and they said he lied to them. He replied that a phone is not a recorder it is techincally a trnasmitter/receiver with a recorder on it, he was re-instated that night.

Judicial committees are mute.

The pedophile database

i know that years ago there were 23,700+ pedophiles listed in a database in brooklyn by the society.

it has to be many more by now.. do you think there will ever be a defector in the watchtower it department that will release it to the media?

do you think that someone will hack it and release the information?

That is of course if they even have one. Who knows with all the lies and they are lies that are being told in the guise of theocratic warfare. Like Jehovah needs anyone to protect his name......um havent they read the old testament.

My feeling is that they can do as they please as they may have created a monster soon to back fire.

Question. I noticed that in the sheperding book, it only mentions no recording equipment. Have they since allowed people to take notes.

I know of one Brother who had his attorney take a video of the elders arriving their plates/tags type of car and the elders themselves. also the brother going into the hall stating it was a judicial committee and then leaving.

He told the elders about it and they cut the JC meeting right there and then. Why are they so scared?

From what i hear and this is coming from my brother who is in IT there are so many passwords protecting it and codes protecting the information and a system set that if an attempt is made to obtain information it will self delete all information within it.

They have numerous protocols which actually do not name apparently the person, just initials date of birth and date of offence. They are playing with fire with this one as they have names of people accused but cleared of it on their also which is a major lawsuit and to add to their worries the names from European countries could be listed illegally.

Since the case in CA where access was demanded and granted I think they may have destroyed it.

As my brother said to the brother aware of the complexities of the system, " those who play on thin ice, usually get a wet ass".

Under the data protection act it may be possible for anyone in the European Union to demand and get access to it.

RIP - The last good JW I knew

i just received an email.. the last jw that i absolutely loved died yesterday.. he was funny, loving, kind, smart and quirky.. when he was the tms overseer, if you did a substitute talk he would say "i'm going to put a 'g' under point number 99: suave, sophisticated and debonair" (that was back when we got graded).. and, he was very intelligent - we played trivial pursuit (his favorite game) - he got all the pieces, except sports, on his first turn.

he never watched sports so he never knew the answers.. rest in peace - i hope that god allows you into heaven even though you were part of an evil cult.

It is sad. I remember as a child an older brother who loved everyone, never had a bad word to say and passed away.

I was broken hearted as he lived his life under the golden rule.

If you laughed he laughed with you, if you cried he cried with you, if you needed a shoulder he gave you his.

heartbreaking but God reads the heart and I am sure he has a special place!

the first amendment (freedom of religion) has always been on the watchtowers side in stopping class action lawsuits against them but a stunning new twist has emerged that may open up the flood gates for scores of new lawsuits.. if your life has been turned upside down by the watchtower organization and would like to participate in and perhaps be compensated for the life altering damage caused to you then dial into the six screens of the watchtower conference call sat.

They're getting soft...

so i had my second random jw visit since i left.

the last time i was sick and couldn't really talk back but i was pleasant enough.

i took the magazines, but they never returned.. attempt #2: a father with his poor miserable looking son.

I think if my memory served me correctly, they are doing what is called "leave them with a question and return to answer it with them" thingy.

I spoke with my "in family" and they now are asking people a 'thought provoking question" and leaving them with it and it gives them more chance to return and ask if they thought about the answer.

Just another way of getting the foot in the door.

the congregation i was in was filled with "holier than though papa is an elder" people and "my kids are pioneer' people.. none of them are witnesses any longer!.

one who was married chuffed a wordly girl disfellowhsipped and happy.. another who was a "skirt chaser" now chases 'trouser snakes".

Why are letters from John and Paul included in the Bible?

i don't see much difference between paul writing a letter to the corinthian congregation and the gb writing a letter to the timbucktoo congregation.. is what paul wrote to the ephesians just as fallible and subject to 'new light' as the letters the wts writes to congregations today?.

if a letter from the governing body today which says it's immoral to have an organ transplant can be dead wrong and changed later.

can the letter from paul which says it's wrong to eat blood be dead wrong and subject to change later?.
