what is theocratic warfare exactly as it is taught by the watchtower?

are all jw's instructed to apply it?

how is it applied and to what degree and in what circumstances?

It is generally never known by the rank and file if the society is lying as they never say. The rank and file accept that the society is telling the truth all the time when it is not the case, and rarely is truth ever part of anything they do.

A UBM will simply be told what the rank and file mate has been told.

Case in point of the deception used by the society, getting a brother to purchase land in a residential area knowing that he will then sell the land to the society who in turn will be denied application to build and then will sue for 'religious discrimination". They decieved the state or county and the seller and the congregation but guise it as being the 'victim of religious discrimination". They used the "theocratic warfare" tactic to explain it to the rank and file.

Or we never tell anyone they can not have a blood transfusion. Technically true, congregationally a lie....they may not say you can't but they will certainly deal with you if you do.

It is never ok for a brother to lie even if it means losing everything, but those who claim they can do no wrong never think twice of lying!

OUTLAW...so true!

They honestly believe that they can lie about anything as long as it protects their money and it will be forgiven. How abusive and arrogant.

This is all about making the truth tellers out to be liars and the liars to be "picked upon". It makes me sick to the stomach and surely if you believe in God must make his spirit troubled!

A lie is a lie, Jehovah need no one to protect him it is all about money. Even Elders lie, skirt the law and abuse the congregation through those lies!

It is as they say "to confuse the enemy". Like in Australia when they said there is no "faithful and discreet slave" or in England when they say "it is a personal decision" if you speak to a df'd person lie lie lie, but they truly honesty believe they will be forgiven, nope sorry.

Keeping Records

ok who can definitively answer how long the society keeps records before having to "chuck 'em out"?.

i know the law in europe makes it clear that they can not be kept any "longer than necessary", but gives no time frame to use.. any elders in the uk have a clue?

in the us they have no such law so i know they can hold on as long as they like, case in point.

Any Elders in the UK have a clue? In the US they have no such law so I know they can hold on as long as they like, case in point. A brother DF'd 38 years ago in the US still had his record on file, one in the UK 6 years ago had no records other than his baptism!

forgive me if i'm a bit slow with the title to this thread.

the true absurdity of the cult that robbed me of my intellect for so long is still beginning to dawn on me.. i'm doing more research into domestic violence as part of a response to the notorious "wife beating" article in the feb 2012 watchtower.. i was shocked to find a question from readers in the w75 5/1 p286-288 which basically said that a battered wife would not be scripturally free to divorce her husband.

my first reaction was that this stance must have changed since 1975, but then i dipped into my own memory from serving as an elder, and of course, adultery (including porneia) is given as the only scriptural grounds for divorce down to this day.. please can somebody correct me if i'm wrong, preferably with a reference?

Hmmmm does it included beating the crap out of the husbands credit card cos my wife has been doing it for years!

I discussed this with my wife and she made it clear that if I ever raised and eyebrow to her she would ensure I never would be able to pro-create again!

Abuse is abuse, no one should be able to tell you who you should stay with and who you should leave.

Are they willing to accept the death of someone who followed the guidelines and endured mental and emotional abuse? I bet not, it would be the old "theocractic warfare" 'our guidance is optional" mantra.

No woman or man deserves to be beaten and told to endure it period.

If being 'mentally diseased" means you are able to reason beyond what is presented as fact, I am "mentally diseased"

I think it is a badge of honor to be able to dissect, discuss and question anything presented as fact and show otherwise and be insulted for doing so.

i know that years ago there were 23,700+ pedophiles listed in a database in brooklyn by the society.

it has to be many more by now.. do you think there will ever be a defector in the watchtower it department that will release it to the media?

do you think that someone will hack it and release the information?

JRk you are right on with the info. Sadly though as many finacial institutions and corporations have shown even in the last few years much infomration and data is destroyed to cover wrong doing. Example that comes to mind is the thousands of emails the Bush admin. lost or destroyed, cover up much?

Given the society routinely advises elders to destroy letters of recommendation because of the data protection act in Europe. who knows what else they will do to cover up things.

What's The Biggest Difference In Today's JWs And The Witnesses From Decades Ago?

i believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..

Great comments. Just a few weeks ago I sat and thought about how as a child going on service was an adventure, Elders were honest and happy and gave you all the time you needed. Tuesday meetings we would have fun and look forward to the cookies and stuff afterward but now the Elders I met were so serious and lack energy, those I see in field service seem happy but wat else can they do?

Jeffro that is exactly where he got the information from. He spent time in Brooklyn in IT when they set up numerous databases and it was there he learned of the complex structure of gaining information and how secretive it all is.

it was one of the reasons he started to question why they hold so much information and hide it if there is nothing they could be called to the coals for.

Add to that the fact that there are two if not three sets of electronic doors one has to go through just to get into the "service dept" it makes the average person wonder what is going on, when they have to be so secretive.

Add to that the new data protection act instituted in europe and it made it even more complex as the society is now held legally responsible and financially responsible for anyone accessing information and the current laws make it mandatory that the information stored in password protected big time.

So it is not that improbable at all it is more likely they do have the capability to destroy information just as any department with up to date systems can.

I was reporeted for being a "gay bar" frequenter.

As you know from my previous post I was actually the architect who was re-designing a vacant 'gay bar' which had been closed for weeks.

What puzzled me was how this brother knew it was a 'gay bar"!

I refused to meet with Elders as they knew that I was a married brother who was a brother in good standing with a good reputation but they believed a sensless moron above me who I am told like to dabble himself!

My brother who married a sister in another congregation was brilliant! He dated her for months in secret using my sister who was her firend as the excuse for her visiting the congregation and her brother as his friend for visting hers. He never told my sister they were dating nor she her brother so when the elders snooped they got nothing, end result they married in a registrars office and nothing could be done.

So they snoop but hey ho, I am out of it so could care less.
