  a thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.

  or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.

  after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

  zac's first tooth just fell out, and so people are telling him that the tooth fairy will come with money.

  zac asked me if the tooth fairy is real.

  i am at a loss as to what to say.

  I say let your children be children as long as possible, allow them to indulge in escapism, i agination, magic and fairytales...

  They will grow up and face reality soon enough, but while they have the means to enjoy such wild abandon Of reality, let them.

  They won't ever call you out on it ;) imagination and fun are all positive and beneficial.

  Just avoid anything to do with sin, blood sacrifice, displeasing a god, worship, exclusive devotion and righteous wrath i.e. the disgusting tales told to JW kids, and all will be well ;) x

  Evidence and facts are the basis of theories. So we have fossil evidence dated from millions of years ago until modern times that shows an increase in complexity over time. This is a fact, the fossils are the evidence. Evolution is the theory of HOW those fossils increased in complexity and variety over time.

  if you are wondering why dinosaurs and evolution etc are issues of modern day humans, it is because they were only recently dug up and found.

  Evolution is a process we now KNOW occurs, but there are so many layers of evolution from the dna up to the physical representation of the dna (phenotype), there is much to be examined, discussed, learned and even re-examined. For example what happened when and why etc. this is why despite having facts and evidence, we can only build s theory around them and try to increase the evidence by making predictions based on hypothesis. So for example, if evolution is true, and natural selection occurs. We can force life to evolve around us by changing the enviroment, as seen in bacteria with antibiotics.

  Darwin was not the only person to think of evolution, many did, but he was the first to publish the theory. Wallace a butterfly expert also published the theory at the same time but a scientific panel concluded that Darwin be attributed the theory. Some of what Darwin thought and theorised has long ago been proven incorrect. He did his science over 100 years ago, the theory stands but his assumptions on many things were wrong. For example he imagined life sprouting like a tree, evolving branches and twigs of animals from a single trunk, but we now know it is multiple trunks. the jw's use a sly tactic of quoting modern scientists denouncing the Darwinian theory as being proven wrong, then stop the quote there, not finishing with the new evidence that still supports evolution but not as Darwin imagined.

  Darwin originated the theory it does not belong to him, it belongs to humanity. Obviously he got things wrong as we do to this day. But the evidence, the facts are the start if the theory.

  Hopefully that gives you s better sppreciation. We really are not the best people to ask, go and read up on it and I am sure it will answer any questions you have Paranoia agent.

  p.s. I really wouldn't debate science with people that don't understand it. Not that they don't deserve to understand etc, but until they make the effort toeven know what they are debating, you are wasting valuble time and energy. Some here have lied repeatedly and made it obvious they are just trying to use up your time, efen laughing about it, probably thinking they are doing gods work in doing so. Trust me they don't want answers, save your time for people that do and for peoole that don't have to change their username due to the above behaviour.

  in all seriousness, this nonsense is not helpful, especially to a new person coming along. kill the thread and leave these two to chat amongst themselves, let them go make new usernames and come back,by the way sabatious, cofty and I pm'd with recognition of who you were right at the start. Nobody else talks and thinks in such a sporadic and contradictory manner, you don't want to find answers you are looking for questions, though they have no meaning.

  It is like trying to converse with people in a a lauguage they don't speak or understand whilst they try to denounce the rules of the language. go away and do a course in science, seriously, if it means so much to you both, to question it. Go put hard cash on the table and pay for an education, argue with your tutors all day about observing the unobservable and accomplishing things never seen before such as raising the dead with your mind.

  So when they have a piece of puzzle that just won't be hammered into the jigsaw, they throw the piece away as 'hypothetical' and for the first time ever the words of gods son means nothing, there was no value in him ssying it..... Despite it being a prophecy, that part of the account has NO relevance, according to 8 uneducated men in a factory in Brooklyn.

  P.s. I personally believe all the bible is hypothetical, I laugh because 8 men say they have a special means to differentiate what is and isnt hypothetical and 8 million people believe them. Wow humans are interesting....

  Oh lordy.....

  we have evolved to recognise faces, it is a fundemental element of our life as a baby and in surviving in africa Many moons ago.

  You only need 3 random shapes getting smaller with gaps between and a mirror to create eyes nose snd mouth , whether it be drawings of clouds becoming more distant or s rock face or a body of water etc etc .....

  This stuff is not helpful because I would laugh at it, a jw would laugh at it and they have done so much more blatant evil than this nonsense and this detracts from it.

  Got Accosted by 2 JW Women While Pumping Gas Yesterday - Weird

  minding my own business while pumping gas - this 60 year old short jw lady with fluffed bun styled 60's hair and her 30 year old attractive 5 ' 10 inch jw lady partner came straight up to me as i'm pumping.

  For the sake of the kids getting molested in significant numbers within the JW's , well done.

  It should be a 'go to' comeemt for us all when we are approched by JW's. When they say 'all religions and groups have bad apples' we can say ' no your religion itself was attributed blame and was given a financial fine as a consequence due to it't policy that AIDED the abuse.'

  i always ask how this weighs with the ministry work, if anyone googles JW's these news eeports come to light very quickly, for every person that says no to this religion because of such reports, how will god judge them? These reports have outweighed the ministry work and are a huge tarnish on the religion. Defending these policies, not in the bible... They can call the police and break no bible verse....will help prolong them, help them happen and help people turn away.

  Eve made our periods painful

  i was just remembering this teaching--that a mythical woman ate a piece of fruit 1000s of years ago after a snake told her to, and that's the reason we have menstrual pain.. you see, the bible says eve was cursed for her sin with painful childbirth.

  hence we can make up extrapolate that this includes menstruation, which is just part of childbearing.

  then we can make up extrapolate that this applies to all females in the entire human race today, because according to a loving god we should all share in her sin as we all have vaginas too.. i remember crying in total agony while i was insulted comforted by having this scripture and explanation read aloud to me, and thinking how much this knowledge drew me closer to jehovah made me realize what a misogynistic wackadoodle cult this was.. thor causing thunder is more plausible than this.. if dubs take midol, does that mean they are scoring jehovah's lesson?.

  I remember being told a similar thing and yet humans are not the only animals that menstruate, animals such as primates do too.. (yes what a coincidence, our cousins) and yet they didn't eat no fuit.....or did they!?

  The bible says that god punished women with difficult and painful births. We have lost the appreciation of how dangerous human birth is thanks to hospital care , but think of how many women need hospital births and how much medical support they need. In the 1800's 40% of births led to mother mortality. Now it is about 800-1000 mothers a day dying, mostly in non hospitalised regions of the world.

  The issue is that the female pelvis is nearly the exact same size as the babies head. Evolution tells us that it was advantageous for us to walk, in being upright we had to have a smaller pelvis. At the same time we were evolving larger heads (brains) and here we had our issue, the difficult birth of thehead through the pelvis. Enough babies survived for the walking and brain size to remain advantageous, but the problem remains to this day.

  But this horrendously scary and dangerous element of human life is ascribed to god being a bit pissed off in the bible. Something worth contemplating when awful things happen during birth, and ..as in the JWs they turn to the very same god for hope and comfort.

  But adding to the birth is the pain of the menstrual cycle. This amazing process involving 3 hormones provides a layer of blood rich tissue for the egg to land in, when the egg is not fertilised, it is shed, to great pain and discomfort of the female. The process gives us life, it is no punishment, it is a very male perspective to denounce the female, the miracle life giver as not only the one who caused all of this, but the one who is punished more.

  Before the bible, women were worshipped as humans fell from their belly..... The bible came along and reversed that. Did a good job too.

  So ladies blame yaweh or Darwin, because we all have to suffer when 'the painters are in.'

  Pretty amazing stuff hey lois, you are more than welcome, i am so happy and excited that you watched it and enjoyed it. Such information should be shown on every tv channel all the time, reality is far more beautiful than the guessing or myth of many religions.

  It is astounding stuff. If you told a JW we had weighed the universe, discovered dark energy, found the field responsible for mass in a universe made from nothing , photographed the big bang, predicted the end of the universe, established the shape of the universe and now found a plausible explination for the start of the universe without the need for a god.... They would assume it all either untrue or worse a ploy of satan.... Thats if the understood.

  However they would be quite wrong and depressingly behind the times....
