  Madness in the pages of the very first Golden Age. The date? Oct 1, 1919

  i was doing some research in the very first issue of golden age (forerunner to awake!

  ), published october 1, 1919, and couldn't believe what madness was contained on some of its pages.. for example, i can't believe i missed this clipping when i was researching my article on racism in early watchtower literature a year ago..... .

  segregation of black children is basically praised as "wise" and "probably an advantage to all concerned.

  in regard to the conti case......i have a new hypothesis.

  i think they know they can't win this one.

  but for the sake of damage control, they must litter the court with appeals and extensions.

  In regard to the Conti case......I have a new hypothesis. I think they know they can't win this one. But for the sake of damage control, they must litter the court with appeals and extensions. That way, 2 years from now when individual witnesses begin murmuring about the 1st ever court case that the mighty Watchtower Society lost in regard to child abuse.......the word can be spread from the top down (DOs to COs to elder bodies to witnesses) that the Society fought valliantly to get this preposterous verdict overturned. Unfortunately though.....Satan and his court used their scheming ways to win out.

  That will pacify any who want to know more about what happened. If the society just let the case die......they would LOOK guilty even to their own members.

  False prophets or simply wrong expectations?

  in a talk i heard recently, the brother was talking about how jws had certain expectations about the end, acknowledging 1914, 1925, surely before 1935 and 1975, then we learned that it's not in our jurisdiction to know jehovah's timetable.

  then he said, some say that because we made those mistakes, some say jws are false prophets.

  he said that was "simplistic thinking".

  This makes me sick. Makes me think back to when I had a "bible" study. He asked me about the jws prophetic failures. I was so happy when I found the article explaining them as "premature expectations". All it took was clever semantics to allow me to keep my confirmation bias.

  i guess this sort of thing is bound to happen, even though the society implies that angels are out there protecting jehovah's witnesses from harm.. interestingly, it wasn't an angel who came to the rescue, but a "worldly" bystander with his gun.. .

  I was attacked by dogs on numerous occasions. Never was bit though. I even had to hurdle a fence once. I recall when I was about 20 years old, our CO was visiting and his admonition to all of us was to stop taking our book bags to the door with us. Instead just bring our bible and the publication we are trying to place. This, he said, would make the householder feel more at ease. Well.....I was working door to door in the same group as him and I refused to go to the door without my book bag. He was disappointed and let me know. I informed him that my book bag has, on more than one occasion, been what kept me from getting bit by a dog.

  Here is my honest opinion. No one can live a double life forever. I woke up quite a few years ago.....and lived a double life for years.....hoping I could reach my wife. Living a double life will suppress and depress you. I know it is hard. But you have a husband (hopefully your relationship there is good) and a child. THAT is your family!

  When I left the organization finally, my wife left me and took the kids. We are now battling it out in court. Thankfully I have my sisters and my mom (who have all left the organization) for support. But you know what? If i could have......I would have traded my siblings and my mom in order to have my wife and my children all on board with me. Like I said......THAT is your family now and THAT is what is most important. Don't risk your REAL family for a cult.

  You should not have to hide who you really are just to have contact with your family. I don't mean to sound harsh.....but are you really that desperate? If your family only loves you because of your social standing within a religious cult......then is that a love you really want to chase? If so why? Maybe I have a little too much self pride.....but I'll be damned if I am going to live the rest of my life pretending to be someone I am not just so I can earn someone else's CONDITIONAL love.

  I also agree with earthfire. If you raise your child with even SOME JW beliefs.....depending on the mindset of the child.....he/she may be inclined to give his/her life to the group when older. Especially if you forge a closer bond with your family and they all help indoctrinate your child.

  i couldn't help but notice in the ps to the body of elders at the bottom.......it reminds elders to review paragraphs 23-25 of the letter to all bodies of elders dated april 9, 2012. i looked back through my collection of letters and i don't have one dated april 9th, 2012. i looked through all of atlantis' posts and don't see one with that date either.

  has one slipped through the cracks?

  does anyone have a way of obtaining a copy of this letter?

  JWs Lack of Love and Feelings

  i have noticed the extreme lack of love in this group of people who preach love, love, love.. we recently had serious floods come through our area and the jws couldnt have cared less.

  our 'worldly' friends did sooo much for us though.

  raising money, giving gifts, cards, accomodation and so much support and hard work.. i personally think jws are one of the most insensitive, uncaring religions around.. three religious groups were absolutely wonderful during the flooding of our area.

  their "love" is purely conditional. If you are getting in your hours and are a stellar example in the congregation.....you will be flooded with conditional love......especially if you are going through hard times.
