have you ever wondered why the gb do not have open, honest discussions with other religious adherents?

have you ever pondered over the reasons that rank & file dubs are told not to debate their beliefs with a householder?

certainly if someone's life depended upon your 5 minute presentation at their door, you would be eager to discuss your beliefs.

The gb would be eaten alive if they engaged in open discussion with educated people. There is so much Bs in their changing doctrines and history that just cannot be defended. Topics or questions that are embarassing are: false prophecies, organ transpalnts, blood fractions, beth sarim, chosen by Christ in 1919, olin moyles letter to Rutherford and lawsuit victory, alternative military service change and needless suffering, malawi-mexico scandal, ray franz incident, nwt distortions, misquoting scholars etc etc etc.

lits, im sorry for what you went through. Mercy, compassion and integrity is forfeited and replaced by service and other activities regulated by the gb. im surprised to see that the world has more compassion and gratefulness than the jws.

Has a wrong disfellowshipping ever been reversed?

im not talking about simply being reinstated.

i remember hearing a story about a brother that was disfellowshipped because of the testimony of two false witnesses.

years passed before they admitted to lying about the brother and was reinstated.. what is policy in this sort of situation?

In the mid to late 90's in the Rhode Island area, a young sister was disfellowshipped for fornication. She adamantly denied committing fornication but her belly kept growing & growing and had a baby. Yep, she was pregnant. After her being disfellowshipped, a local dentist was indicted for having sex with his female patients when they were unconscious under some medicine or chemical (sorry Im not a Doctor) and this sister was one of them.

The elders made an announcement that sister XXXXXX was never really disfellowshipped in God's eyes and that her DF status is reversed.

This happened in a Spanish Congregation. I don't know what happened to her or the baby after that. I was told this story by a pioneer couple when I was visiting.

A member here going by Bluepill2 served in the service department. Im sure he knows of many more interesting stories like these.

When you're told that the only way to please God and earn salvation is by doing works specifically door to door witnessing, you may fall for it.

That happened to Nancy Yuen. What evil demonstration of double standards! The missionaries stopped going door to door but instead sent the local Chinese.

Of course the GB has capitalized on this "presecution" and has hailed her as a hero and further "proof" that the world and Satan is against the Watchtower and it's members.

Raymond Franz mentiones her in one of his books and explains how to GB has convinced the rank and file that going door to door is a means to gain salvation instead of faith in Christ.

If door to door is the only way to do God's will and recruit members then how did the more than billion Catholics become Catholics? Same question for any religion really.

What's you BIGGEST pet peeve/disagreement with the WT or GB?!?

for me its the district conventions.

not bragging in anyway, but i was born-into a family of 'higher ups' im talking co's and zo's..... and there is a room that they set up in the conventions/stadiums called the "chairmans office".

i always have access to these rooms, because im usually with one of my higher up family members who give talks and all that other crap.. anyways, while everyone in the convention is sitting in the sun, eating a slimy, soggy bolognia sandwich, the chairmans office is air conditioned, has a variety of chilled beverages, 'coke, pepsi, diet coke, gatorade, dasani water bottles,' not to mention the 'danishes, sandwich triangles, cookies, cakes, muffins, fresh coffee, and for lunch, pizza, salads, pastas, and lasagna'.

For me I can't stand:

* That they have appointed themselves as God's only channel to understand the Bible. Having the Bible & faith in Christ is NOT enough to have God's favor. You must obey the men in Brooklyn or be labeled an evil apostate. If that's true...why are their more Bibles in the earth than WT literature? Why did God even bother to have the Bible written by 40 men if all that counted was to have the WT literature?

* That they hide the true facts about their Organization ie. Russel's separation & scheming business ventures (miracle wheat etc). Rutherfords greedy takeover of the Organization & labeling the "opossers" as ambitious when all they wanted was the power to be distributed evenly among the directors. Interesting how this eventually happened in 1976 and all that time they demonized the "opposers" (they still do).

* They downplay their false prophecies in the name of God and blame the rank & file when they fail. (1914, 1918, 1925, 1975 & 2000)

* Their unity is based on spiritual blackmail not God's spirit. If you don't obey, you lose all your friends, family & social life.

* Obedience to the GB and it's agents is more important than upholding truth & what is right. ie. protecting molesters instead of informing the Cong.

* Constant barrage of brainwashing reminders to rank and file that they have no rights. They must accept any pain, injustice or even abuse heaped upon them by anyone in authority as this would make them evil as Korah.

* They guilt people into not going to University, having children (1938) or marriage, not accepting blood fractions, vaccinations, organ transplants, not accepting alternative service etc. When they later changed these policies on a whim....they tell you it was your own decision so don't complain or you will be labelled an evil Mumurrer apostate that is speaking against God himself!!!

How do these Hard Core JW's Function?

i am a fader and through the years i've known and spoken to jw's who live their entire life around the religion.

they live as though they speak with jesus himself!

what really got to me was the other day me and my wife had to stop by some elder's house and it was a saturday night.

What's sad is that eventually that family will face the reality that what matters in the JW organization is not doing the right thing or upholding truth but the authority of the GB. We all need something to believe in and JW's fill that need as long that you follow them blindly without question.

A prime example was Olin Moyle who sold his house in Wisconsin and moved with his family to Bethel to serve as Legal Counsel. It only took him a couple of years to see that the WT is all about following men instead of God & Christ. He dared to speak up against abuses by the President and he was literraly thrown out to the street. He had sacrificed a comfortable lifestyle in WI and was brutally awakened to reality.

Ray Franz in COC said that eventually fantasy will meet reality.

The fact that these people met at a JW meeting 16 yrs ago does not mean they were Witnesses. Going to a Yankee game does not mean I'm a Yankee or Mickey Mantle. JW's are not allowed to carry guns. The official teaching is that God will judge the wicked in his due time at Armageddon. W.H. Conley

Long Term Effect of Conti & Similar Cases?

i was commenting in another thread this morning and saw speculation that the conti verdict will hasten the wts' decline, beyond just the money they may have to pay in that case itself.

i have seen this mentioned a number of times and it got me thinking and doing a bit of research.

i think the speculation and hope is that it will give rise to similar lawsuits which will meet with similar success.

The victim and the family have the right & obligation to call the police. If the elders say you can't, ask them to put it in writing signed by the body of elders & go to the police anyways. Any thinking member should know that the elders only deal with sin & it's really up to us to protect our family and get the law involved when necesarry.

Even if a molester is df'd, in less than a year he will be re-instated. Warn the congregation about a molester even if threatened with df. Again ask the elders to put their request in writing and sign by the body. This will scare them.

I don't care about the 2 witness rule, I will go to the police if any family member says they were molested or victimized any other way. Have the law, professionals, dna, forensics etc decide whether molestation took place.

It's a real shame to believe that the elders can actually protect our family from any harm. It's up to us personally. All they can do is to tell us to preach, go to meetings and wait in God. Nothing practical will come out of their mouths.

our four day assemblies in the 1970's through the 1980's were pure torture.. they were held at a horse race track in cicero,il in the smoking hot and humid month of july.

they charged around $2 for parking.

It was Lloyd barry Gb member that collapsed giving a talk in a convention in Hawaii. I believe it was in 1998-99.

If one didn't go to these torture session in 95+ degree weather, you would be told that you're not showing respect for God's provisions. The elders & congregation would then be asking why you didn't go and make you feel you're not spiritual.

I believe the vast majority go to these conventions out of coercion instead of truly looking to be spirtually fed with information that will be obsolete in a couple of years.

Will the Watchtowers growth in the third world keep them around for decades to come?

i suspect the wt is going to continue to see slowing growth in all western lands as time goes on.

it seems to me though that there is so many potential suckers out there in the third world that will keep coming into the wt because of lack of internet, education or falling victim to love bombing as many of us did here at one time.

i think it's going to get really tough for them as the western land money dries up though.

The more ignorant people are the easier to fool them. 3rd world countries have poor internet connection so those people are easy recruits.

The growth in the US is mainly with foreign language. The english field has practically run dry. Only the children (33%) are the new recruits.
