Ok. Mocking a complete stranger on the street is in no way inappropriate at all. Stay classy, guys.

Tried to convince the JW's on my street I was possesed.
by Cagefighter ini took a walk down to the corner store to find something to help out my slight hangover from watching the cowboys and my poker night.
i made it half way down the block and there they were!
two older couples out door-to-door.. they seemed to be having a pow-wow in front of a block of apartments.

They are freaking out because they know that you will be dead to them soon. It is entirely rational from their perspective. You really ought to take a minute and try to understand that fact: they aren't every going to speak to you again. Actually, you should be a little upset about it, too.
Everyone here wants to cheer you on. I don't see it that way. It is a personal tragedy -- perhaps one that cannot be avoided, but a tragedy nonetheless. We shouldn't cheer those, especially when the person talking about it doesn't seem to have a clue about what is happening.

Yup. I'm with steve2 here: don't like it. Popping off in public is, in my opinion, quite low-rent.

Will Hitler be forgiven just because he died????????
by The Searcher ini cannot fathom how the vast majority of my 7.5 million brothers and sisters, (especially all who are members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovahs witnesses) can believe for one second, the "given" explanation of romans 6:7. this is what taught; .
insight book - 2p.138judgmentday - "those resurrected will not be judged on the basis of the works done in their former life, because the rule at romans 6:7 says: he who has died has been acquitted from his sin.".
therefore, the following 6 scriptures can be ripped out of our bibles, because jesus does not have the god-given right to judge any dead people - because our own death has washed our sins away!!!

It is the perfect JW doctrine, Searcher. Nothing anyone has ever done before the shiny, new, JWs has mattered one goddam bit. Christian doused in oil and set on fire? Eh. Guy doused a Christian in oil and set him on fire? Don't matter.
Nothing matters before the JWs showed up and made everything matter.

Example: If a math book with equations were inerrant what would happen if every student in the world worked the equations?
Answer: all students would achieve identical solutions.
Heh. You've obviously never taken a math class.

Thanks for your comments, Joey Jo-jo. I think one of my problems with the whole CD thing is that it seems to be the sort of thing that people who disagree with me have -- or so everybody thinks. It's like: everybody else is a shitty driver.
Your example of the fundamentalist belief in the Flood is an example. Unless you have spent a great deal of time investigating evolutionary biology, you are more or less accepting an argument from authority. I know I am, since I can't explain the distinction between mico- and macro-evolution at anything approaching a sophisticated level. The real question is how and why you come to accept one authority over another.
So, for lots of fundamentalists, the question is simply one of whom you trust. Now, it is easy to mock them, but most of us couldn't follow a real debate within the field. And, if you already distrust the motives of somebody -- the way fundamentalists have reason to distrust most academics -- then you would optimally discount those messages. Indeed, experts are very often mistaken, which provides cover for those who want to discount their viewpoints.
None of which is to say that JWs somehow are not suffering from CD. But it is to say that I figure they suffer from it at about the same rate as everybody else.
I see this all the time with Christian ex-jw's, one in his youtube video said to question everything which I replied - question everything except the bible.
That's what I mean. Or have you somehow managed to create an assumption-less epistemological system?

"Hey There All You Thirsty Ones!" I seem to to remember a pretty good build up to the refrain: "See, His kingdom has been born!" etc. Then the "hey there" part, which seemed to pull back some, since you cant expect a congregation to belt out the verse the way it should be.
Still remember a very large percentage of those songs, lo these many years later.

Is this not child abuse in the name of religion?
by recovering inultra orthodox rabbis suck the blood out of babies blood from the penis with their mouths, while preforming circumsisms.
there is now a new law proposed which says that rabbis must get informed consent before they do this, due to babies dying after contracting herpes .
the orthodox rabbis have said they will defy this law.

it's allowed because jews are treated with kids gloves, if as a non-jew you dare to critizise something about their religion or customs, you are branded as antisemitic and nazi.
Fer real! Why is that!?
in germany, ritual circumcision recently was outlawed. modern jews and muslims support this, but of course fundamentalists still want to force their bronze age religious irreversible mutilations on newborns.Oh. Nevermind.
Circumcision is nothing but an ancient tribal identification .............started 3000 years ago by ancient Hebrews.
... who were cleverly disguised as Egyptians?

I kinda like maps. Wouldn't it be fun to, like, change up the territories a few times each year. You could categorize them by size, cross-checked with census-tract-level data on education, family size, income, etc. Then, attach the service reports from each time the thing is worked. You could do a whole marketing project: know where you are most effective, what times of the year to call, all that. Then, when the CO comes, you just bomb him with analysis.
That's a dream job. I'm not even kidding.
