  2013 DC new releases - rumors ???

  there is rumors that in this years dc nwt will be released and also new tracts.

  any other rumors about new releases?.

  I can't imagine a new NWT could possibly be less illiterate than the one they use now. There is a high level of illiteracy in it, and it can't be reduced. Not impossible, I guess, but it can't be unlikely to be less.

  so i'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like.

  but what i do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda.

  Why I think (in a nutshell) why this org is approaching collapse

  in a nutshell: i think that (and i do not enjoy thinking about this)...i think that the crazies within the religion (who range from just low level people to co elder do and up) have won so many battles at this point (over the more balanced people/ideas)......that the people who tend to think in a more balanced fashion (whether they themselves be low level or higher up) are getting to be the real minority.

  i think this dynamic, will be what finally sinks the ship.. as we see with any organization (corporate or otherwise), many times there are reports that make you wonder (how is this thing alive or prospering?

  ), and upon closer scrutiny, there are strong people in the background holding the walls up (who themselves get little attention).

  Interesting thread. Couple thoughts.

  First, I disagree with the idea that things are getting worse for the org. The rate of increase may be down, but the idea that the org. is headed down... well, how about we see some data. Even in a catastrophe like Japan, we are talking about very slight decreases in actual numbers. Branches are opened, in part, on forecasted growth as well as realized growth; so closing a few down is not necessarily a sign of near defeat.

  Talk about how all the good ones are leaving is simple nostalgia. Everybody always things things were better back in the day, but things were just about exactly as shitty as they are now. It's human nature. Doesn't mean anything.

  The American religious scene has been quite fractured for a very long time. You might simply expect the JW share of the religious pie to remain constant, even though the size of the pie seems to be decreasing. The way I read the Pew data, this looks to be the case: fewer religious people in the US means fewer new JW converts.

  The JWs have always been a high-control group. You think it's bad now, but it is about the same as it ever was. Back in the day, they would say, "Show up for a week-long convention, each day lasting from dawn 'til dusk," and they did it. Now, that's some control, kids.

  There was never a golden age of JW theological thought. It was always crazy. Same as ever.

  So, in my opinion, nothing to see here. Except for a little decrease in the rate of increase. The real question is how Herd and the boyz manage the conspicuous lack of Armageddon. That's the core value proposition of the JWs -- which is going away. But you can see they are working on it hard and, in my guess, will come up with something that enables them to keep 80% of their numbers over the next twenty years. Everybody says the GB are dummies, but they're not: they know the mind of the JW better than anyone. They will figure it out.

  16:5. korah lost sight of the fact that jehovah was directing the nation of israel and consequently failed to show loyalty to those whom god was using.

  how much wiser it would have been for korah to wait on jehovah for a clearer understanding or for adjustments if those were really needed.

  Eh, people get disappointed. I wanted the Falcons to beat the 49ers -- didn't work out. Doesn't mean football is wrong. Other people wanted to have a meaningful career but settled for work that doesn't suit them because the JWs said this system wouldn't be around for long. Same thing, really.

  japan had a handful of witnesses after ww 2....this number skyrocketed to 222,912 by 1998!

  then something happened.

  publisher figures didn't stop, they dropped by thousands over the next decade!.

  I dont know... I'm reminded of those Chinese character tats that the sorority girls thought meant, like, "courage," or, "hope," or whatever. Usually, they just meant, "slut."

  On the other hand, I don't know the amino acid code for "slut," maybe somebody here speaks amino.
