  today, a coworker finished reading my d.a.

  letter i have prepared, but not sent yet.. part of my recovery from the damaged caused from membership in the cult has been to be open and honest as to who i am, was and what i was involved in.. so i gave him the letter to read, and he gave it back today, two weeks later, and said:.

  "i told my wife, if they ever come knocking at our door, tell them to leave, and if they won't, call the police".

  New Watchtower CD?

  i'm going to post another thread on this since my last attempt to hijack a thread was utterly in vain.. does anyone have the latest watchtower library cd?

  i *think* the year was '99 or '01, but i'm not 100% on that.. if so, would it be possible to put an iso of it on the web somewhere?

  (or, if not, at least host it on your computer for a bit such that i could pick it up via icq or gnutella or something?).

  JW's and recycling

  the jw corporation probably produces more useless literature than any other corporation on the planet (or are at least in the top 10).

  probably over half of the magazines they print go to waste.

  even the most zealous of poineers has a huge pile of "unplaced" magazines in their house (for us less "zealous ones" the pile may get quite prodigious .

  I thought about the WT's huge waste of paper too while viewing their cassette... the one about the beauty of their organization. When they showed those huge rolls of paper, the narrator proudly saying how much paper is used each DAY, one couldn't help but roll his eyes at the stupidity of the statement. In their interpretation of the Revelation book, the red one, they proudly stated that whoever wasted or ravaged the earth would be ravaged as well... What a bunch of morons.

  Self Esteem

  During all or most of my high school years, I was jeered at, insulted, called names, you name it. I was... a nerd. It's not easy just ignoring what people above you tell you for 5 years of your life. Especially when most of them tell you "You're ugly!" and mean it.

  My low self-esteem has nothing to do with the JW's. It has to do with high school. Scarred for life? Who knows. At least now some people are telling me I'm not so ugly to look at. That's a change...

  Aliens vs Predator 2

  yup, i've rented the game, and apparently it's an excellent first-person shooter, made by the same companies who made no one lives forever.

  i say apparently because i'm having some problems with it.

  now, normally i wouldn't resort to this, but i've already emailed sierra for help, and who knows when they'll respond.

  I've went on some forums, and some other guys had exactly the same problems as me.

  When i am installing AvP2 it installs fine untill disk 2 at 95%, on the file SOUNDS.REZ its asks for disk 0 and i dont have a disk 0, disk 1 and 2 dont work and it just says that the setup can no find the file it wants.

  This must be a software related issue...

  Yup, i've rented the game, and apparently it's an excellent first-person shooter, made by the same companies who made No One Lives Forever. I say apparently because I'm having some problems with it. Now, normally i wouldn't resort to this, but I've already emailed Sierra for help, and who knows when they'll respond. Seeing that some of you here are very good in computers, I'll describe what's going on and hope for the best before 5 P.M.

  It's the stupidest error ever. During installation, the setup asks for CD 2 about halfway through. No problem. So I put in CD2, the setup gets about at 90%, when all of a sudden, the cd speed goes down, everything is silent for a while, and the setup asks for CD 0. Come on.

  I've tried the tips included in the readme.txt file Sierra has so graciously included, with no avail. They suggested copying all the CD files from both CD's to the hard disk. It was a good idea, until a file from CD 2 got me foaming. Data3.cab is the culprit. It just won't be copied! I tried in DOS, but nothing worked. When it gets to 85% of copying, again, it slows down, and after 30 seconds, there is an error. AAAargh.

  I've tried fiddling with the CD-Rom properties (auto insert notification, etc.) but no. I've updated the drivers, but no. I've even tried doing all of the above with my Cd-burner instead, which would have supposed to work, but the exact same things happen. AAAArgh.

  Anyone have suggestions? Plllleeeeeeze?

  What I missed being a JW

  i got to thinking the other day about things that i missed out on being a jw growing up.

  not going to collage comes to mind as does dating more extensively.. the thing i look back on with the most regret though, is my lack of deep friendships.

  going to high school i had worldly friends of course, but i never let myself get too close to them.

  Since I grew up in a JW family, I think my nerdyness had to do with the "don't hang out with wordly people" doctrine. It took a while to harvest friendships, and even then... Later, in high school, I stared to "rebel" against the JW doctrines, and actually started real friendships and (gasp) using "wordly" language occasionnally.

  These days, college and higher education is much more open in JW doctrine, isn't it? Every teen JW I can think of went to college or wants to...

  we on this forum understand that the watchtower society will not hesitate to lie to the public in order to put its best foot forward.

  many of us know that the society's media website, http://www.jw-media.org contains quite a bit of misleading information, such as on the shunning issue.

  under the link to "their beliefs" -> "frequently asked questions" ( http://www.jw-media.org/beliefs/beliefsfaq.htm ) they ask the question, "do you believe that you are the only ones who will be saved?

  Anyone watch Magnolia?

  i just saw magnolia recently, and boy, did i enjoy it.

  the coincidences, the way things interconnected, the credible acting really got me.

  wow.. i admit, some parts were kind of slow and rambling, like when earl partridge rambles off in his bed about his mistakes.
