Is that the excuse you're going to roll out this weekend when England play N. Ireland? ;)

Armageddon Should Arrive This Year.
by Englishman in1975 came and went and nothing happened.
ah...but then!
when 1975 was looking close some bright spark reminded us that god's last act of creation was when eve was given to adam, so that time delay needed to be added to 1975 before armageddon became due.

No, that's not it, although it is useful. Thanks. :)
Side note: How the hell did I ever stay awake at assemblies and conventions? I nearly fell asleep listening to one clip! Hee-hee! -

A while back, someone posted a topic that included a recording he had put together that we could download. In the recording, it had bits of a talk given at a district convention, in which a GB member, possibly the President at the time, was talking about 1975.
I could have sworn I saved it, but I can't find it. I want to use it as ammo. :) Can you help? -

Neighbor: "I'm so glad you left the JW organization"
by seattleniceguy inso i was out working in my yard the other day.
i've met a lot of my neighbors that i didn't know recently, because as i'm working in the yard, they stop by to chat as they're walking the dog, etc.
i'm really getting to know the neighborhood.

I never understood that. How can you love someone if you don't talk to them? That old line, "We're showing love by sharing a life-giving message with them..."...what rubbish.

It's exactly the same in our neighbourhood. I'm really enjoying getting to know some of the people here. And they all know each other and talk all the time. It's the JWs who don't talk to anyone anymore, unless they're trying to shove "the Bible message" down people's throats.

Insurence and JW in Hong Kong
by helloman infrom my observation, the number one commercial activities found within congregations in hong kong is insurence.
some members of jw or even elders are selling great volume of insurence policies to their fellow members.
in manulife hong kong, there even a whole branch of jw insurence people.

That happens in Kingdom Halls all around the world with various schemes...insurance, long-distance phone companies, vitamins, etc.
Side note: I used to live in Hong Kong. Lived there for 14 months and saw one JW the entire time. Or maybe they weren't even a JW. They had a brochure, but it could have just been handed to them. -

Asking them to give a GOOD reason why they can't celebrate birthdays, since we can counter every one of their "reasons."

Who do you miss the most?
by Crumpet inparticularly for those who are shunned for reasons of dfing and daing completely, who do you miss the most that no longer has anything to do with you?
and why?

I miss my sister. She was my best friend. She thinks she's doing the right thing, because she takes people at their word. She thinks that what she's told by the WTS is the truth, so she does what they tell her to do. But I know she misses me too.
I wish I had 15 minutes in a room where she HAD to listen to me. I'd have her back. -

From door to door, to door, to door.......
by Gill inwhat's the point i ask you?
here in the uk, it's an unavoidable fact that the majority of people are out at work, shopping etc.
if you really wanted to speak to people, and felt an urgent duty because the 'end is near' why aren't the jws in the shopping centres, streets, and generally where the people are?.

I remember at the meetings they would tell us exactly that...that most people are out, so we were supposed to go where the people were. Hardly anyone did, though. They stuck with the usual door-to-door and RVs when they didn't want to do much and could waste a lot of time driving back and forth.
