Once I was supposed to be giving a demonstration with 3 of my friends, two of whom were brothers. Well, when the younger brother was saying his lines, the older brother was very quietly mocking him under his breath. The other sister and I started cracking up, and within seconds, all 4 of us were laughing so hard we were crying. My father was the person giving the talk...he wasn't amused. We never got it back together, and had to just walk off the stage, still laughing. Ooo...my dad was pissed.

In my own life, my husband, for supporting me through my personal hell, for opening a whole new world to me, for showing me how to question what I had been taught, and for just loving me unconditionally.
In history, Leonardo da Vinci, because not only was he a scientific genius, but he was also a brilliant artist. He was not afraid to do what he wanted to, regardless of what society said. He was a man far ahead of his time. -

I was physically and mentally abused by my elder father. I was sexually abused by him as well, but he takes care to point out that was before he was a JW. He just hid it for 25 years, and then the elders helped him cover it up. My father has stepped down as an elder, even though the body of elders in his congregation said he could remain one.

Email I received off mum
by Es inhey all, i usually pop into my folks once a week so that my son can see his grandparents.
anyway last week my dad asked if i wanted to go to a country show\fete with them on sat , so anyway a couple of days later i emailed my mum to see whether my fiance (non jw) could come too.. this is the email i received today.
as you are going to be busy over the next few weeks, we dont want to put added pressure on you, dont feel you have to come to the show.plus we have already explained the situation regarding mike we dont have anything against him personally, but the situation is difficult for us regards associating with him as your fiance because it would be viewed as our supporting your decision to marry out of the truth.

I feel your pain. I was kicked out of my sister's wedding (by my father, who told her what to do) because I was dating someone who was studying at the time. They used the same words, that it would be seen as supporting my decision blah blah blah. *rolls eyes* They are so blind. If they understood what love was, they'd be happy for you.

Washington Post 78 yr old JW Katrina victim kicked out on the Streets
by JT in<a href= http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/13/ar2005101301957.html> 78yr old jw katrina victm kicked out on the streets</a>.
this was in the metro section on friday here in dc, so after i read this article i could not beleive that out of all the congos here in dc md va no one made arrangements to help this old 78 yr old jw out as the article says she had dwindling options, why there are over 20,000 jw here in washington dc area .
the article is interesting in that she got booted out of 2 jw homes and no one else picked up the slack.

Thanks. :) It was rather amusing to do. I've wanted a chance to talk to one of them for a while now.

Ack. Hee-hee! I was visiting my grandparents because my grandmother is quite ill. The doorbell rings, and my grandfather says, "I bet it's those Jehovah's Witnesses." As I can move faster than either of them, I got to the door first. *evil grin*
Years ago, my grandfather made the mistake of telling a JW woman what his name was. So now every year or so (Is this the average for RV's or were they just trying to notch up some time doing bogus RV's?), she stops by. She was with a man who I am almost certain was an elder. She mentioned she spoke to him (said his name) and leaves magazines for him. She then launched into the standard JW drivel...'We're speaking to people about the problem of homelessness. Do you think there will ever be a time when there are no homeless?' *yawn boring said the same thing myself years ago*
I told her that my father was a Witness. I didn't let on that I was DF'd. The elder asked what I thought of the religion. *insert sound of can of worms being opened*
I smiled, and said I used to be a Witness too, but I left because I had a serious problem with one of their policies. (Did I mention I'm up for Understatement of the Year Award?) I proceeded to tell them my issues with the child abuse policies, protecting the organisation rather than the children, etc., etc. I told them that the way the policy works now, parents have no way of knowing whether or not there are sexual predators in their congregations. I told them that I had been abused (didn't say by whom), and that the elders had told the abuser, who admitted his crimes, that he was allowed to remain an elder.
At that point, the elder said, "Oh, I don't believe that." I simply raised my eyebrow at him for having the nerve to call me a liar, and he shut up. I then informed him that I had been told this by both the elders and the abuser. I told him that no one else in the congregation knew that a sexual predator was in their midst, and that I knew of many other cases where the same thing had happened, because I had researched it.
He then said, "Where did you research that? The Internet?" (Said with as much disdain and loathing as is possible to get into one word.) I said, "No, court cases are a matter of public record. I used to work for the government." *innocent gaze skyward* All I got out of him after that was an "oh."
I put a few bugs in their ears, all of which I am certain went unheard by Holy Righteous Know-It-All Elder. But I watched the "sister." She looked a lot more thoughtful. I think I touched a nerve with her when I said, "How do you think all those parents would feel if they knew their children were associating with admitted sexual predators?"
Who knows? I have no doubt Mr. Elder Man is a lost cause, but the woman actually did look like she was considering what I said. *shrug*
That's the first time a Witness has spoken to me since I left 5 years ago. I still haven't seen them at my door, even though I live in a different country now. No one here knows I'm DF'd. -

Husbands! Smack your wife across the mouth!
by PopeOfEruke ingreat advice received from a close jw relative who we visited last week.
she said that husbands are the head of the family, and if the wife doesn't support him in serving jehovah then he should give her a good smack across the mouth, thats what she deserves.
if only adam had given eve a good smack across the mouth when she proposed eating the fruit, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now!

That's just so sad, that such ignorance is still perpetuated in our day, and that some people actually believe in that rubbish. :(

Are You Content With Your Life After Exiting JWs?

I am happier than I've ever been in my life. The misery was when I was a JW. I am at peace with myself (mostly) and life in general now. Life is good. :)
