I don't think I even believe in it.

WHAT IS THE MOST PAINFUL FORM OF BETRAYAL?
by Derrick inwhen those who claim to speak for god turn out to be liars.
.. .. .. is this the most painful one-line response to that question in the subjectline, or can you think of something even more painful in one sentence or less?.

I was never very good at praying. I got into the habit of repeating myself...so much so that if I happened to close my eyes whilst sitting somewhere (anywhere), I'd start involuntarily praying.
I was a "close my eyes and say it in my head quickly" type.

New video release?
by dmouse in.
i don't know if this has been mentioned before, forgive me if it has.. i've heard a rumour from a reputable source that another bible drama video is to be released at the 2003 assembly.. the title is 'respecting jehovah's authority'.
i don't know anything else at the minute but i can gusee from the title the general gist of it!

I'm sure they'll add the obligatory 'you'll die at Armageddon if you don't do exactly as we say' lines.

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #34
by ozziepost inmrs ozzie prepared the lunch and i made the drinks!
our visitors were baptist folk, so there was no shiraz today, out of respect for their sensibilities!
we enjoyed our conversation about dateline/panorama/sunday and they are taking a tape of the sunday program to various church groups in the south of sydney.

who hated the memorial?
by Tyler_Durden inwas having a wee think to myself: this year is the first year in over a decade i won't be attending the jw memorial.
not that i'm too bothered, i remembered how much i hated it, how pointless, dull, & stupid i found it!!.
i could never understand the need for the great crowd to attend the annual meeting, it wasn't for us - & it certainly wasn't for our poor bible studies!

I was always bored, but respectful at the same time. And yes, it was a fashion show. All the sisters absolutely had to have a new outfit, and we felt sorry for those who didn't. Same at the conventions and assemblies. How stupid.

When You Were A JW, Were You A Pain In The Ass?
by minimus inhonestly, when you were a witness, were you a pain in the ass?
did you always tend to start trouble, whether knowingly or unknowingly?
were you every elder's worst nightmare?

I tried to be good. But I had this one "weakness." The opposite sex. I don't know how many times I was counselled about it.

Why I think Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult
by whyhideit ini think it pays sometimes to look back at our life with the jehovah's witnesses and review what made the organization a cult.
after all, for years we were told by the society that we were not in a cult and we argued this point in the door-to-door activity.
i found these thoughts on a web-site and i gave personal examples of how i felt and what i saw back in the days of the religion's influence on my life.

This really hits home for me. I was also in the organisation for 25 years. I completely agree with everything you said in your post.
