It's hard to believe the Bible is inspired of God when you don't believe in God.

How Many Feel That The Bible Is Not "Inspired" After All???
by minimus inso many do quote a scripture to make a point against an idea, yet i see that a number do not seem to believe in the bible's inspiration, anyway.

I think they're part of the religious advertising I've seen for the past 2-3 years....the black billboards with white lettering with supposed messages from God on them.

Ray Franz df'd , what did the society say ??????
by run dont walk ini remember vaguely, well all hell broke loose in the late 70's regarding, ray franz being df'd, and the witch hunt at bethel.
i was just a little kid at the time, and didn't pay much attention.. i know ray's point of view, from what i've read on this board, and also ordered myself his book "crisis of conscience"(should be a good read).
i think back now, i remember the event happening, and the speaker talking about it at our circuit assembly, but i don't recall the reasons (bs) he gave.

All I ever remember hearing was that a GB member became an apostate. I did know his name, because someone in our congregation had lots of friends at Bethel.

Interesting quote in the July 8th Awake
by ignored_one inthis was taken from the main article "why so many violent crimes now?".
hate groups and cults.
evidence suggests that some hate groups or cults have been a strong influence in the commission of certain crimes.

My family had a "party" once a year where we did almost the exact same thing as "worldly" people do at Christmas. We had a big dinner (usually turkey coz it was cheap), and got quite a few presents.
I cannot honestly say I was deprived of gifts. We were extremely poor, and I knew that. So I was thankful for what I did get. Except for all the hand-me-down, secondhand clothes. I hated those. I got made fun of at school for them.

Note from the Convention - Saturday
by Gadget inthe opening talk again discussed taking notes, but this time recomended all to take brief notes to have handy for the convention review in the autumn.
can't make their minds up.... "removing the veil from those blinded" we were given instructions to start a bible study on a return visit.
this was not just recomendations, but specific procedure to be used.

But I remember reading on here somewhere that mexican? witnesses were allowed to buy them. Can someone confirm this? If so, I wonder if this experience will be used at the Mexican conventions, or what those two sisters would think if they heard about this.
It's worse than that. The Mexican Witnesses were given permission to continue bribing officials for "proof" that they had served their time in the military. It's in Crisis of Conscience.

Repressed, Triggered and Recovered Memories
by Big Tex infirst of all, let me say that many, if not most, of my memories of abuse and early childhood were recovered.
some people feel that this diminishes my experience, or in some way denies what happened.
i suffered from major depression and was quite suicidal for 2 years before something happened to trigger my memories.

Are dubs allowed to.....?
by SpiceItUp inif a jw manages to get further education (or did before conversion) and say become a professional such as a doctor.....are they allowed to perform blood transfusions?
-
Wolfgirl
My first husband was an ER physician. The decision that was come to (I think he asked the elder he studied with) was that he would try to find another doctor to write the order for the blood transfusion, but if it was an emergency, and the commonly accepted course of treatment included transfusions, he would do it, except if it was a JW, of course.
I remember telling him (even though I was a fairly strong JW at the time) that it would be wrong of him to impose his religious beliefs on someone else.

James 2:15,16 (NWT)
15 If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, 16 yet a certain one of YOU says to them: "Go in peace, keep warm and well fed," but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it?
I have no idea why I never thought of that scripture regarding charitable organisations. The WTS always says that because the benefits of such organisations is temporary, they focus on the preaching work. To me, that's in direct contradiction with that scripture. They are saying that someday, everyone will be warm and well fed, but they're not doing anything about it.
How hypocritical.
There were certain charities that I gave to each year regardless of what the WT said. Mine were always environmental ones, as that's dear to my heart.
I'm just in shock that I never thought of this before. Thank you, blondie, for opening my eyes once again.
