Yes. Rehearsals. Yawn.
Like CoCo said...as if we didnt have enough to do!
i was just thinking back to some parts i conducted.
when other publishers were involved in the part, its success often depended on how well rehearsed the participants were.
timing, proper interplay of dialogue, dramatic impact, etc.. as the one giving the part or as one drafted to do a demo, did your elders require rehearsals?.

i may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.
yes..
the C.O.s refer to your time in service as being like your vital signs.
No service? No pulse.

Oh my gosh Emma....
that picture is truly worth a 1000 words!
i am still in and was assigned to collect the contribution after the meeting.
i checked the boxes with another brother and there was nothing inside.
no contributions were made that day.
Interesting Simon T.
Since every ying has a yang and every coin has a flip side...
in the above scenario who is on the opposite side from the "cheapskates"
I wonder?
In the elders mind?
Could it be the gratuitous money grabbers?
pure speculation here but i'm wondering if - with the numbers flat-lining - that the gb will stop giving country by country stats, or perhaps at least some of the statistics.. we used to get a monthly stat in the km - then that was "simplified" to "highlights".
only the "good" stuff.
then with the new clam workbook, no stats at all.. i wonder if the yearbook will soon only contain "positive" spun stats.
Thank you Gayle and Sir82.
Your answers make sense.
New question is in my head now...since the Spanish rates are keeping things afloat how long can this last?
I had heard rumblings that the Spanish are getting more and more disenchanted and not staying as "in the lines" as the more
Anglo/Puritan based/Protestant derived, U.S. brothers (this would include the GB).

september 21, 2016 to all congregations re: global assistance arrangement for the 2017 service year.
ps to bodies of elders:.
this postscript should not be read to the congregation, and this letter should not be placed on the noticeboard.
If any Hall dares to not pass this, may find themselves on the list being moved to another Hall and theirs being sold.

How did they possibly manage to show a 1 per cent growth in the U.S.?
Is that true?
i asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.
I'll take door number 3!
I saw something bad happen involving elders. That wasnt what did me in though.
It was the cover up by a Circuit Overseer and the branch helping in the cover up rather than a simple straightening out of the problem.
That was my first moment of realizing the Emperor has no clothes.
Finding this site and getting facts to back up what had just dawned on me was the natural progression for me.
when you were "in" did you ever actually enjoy the ministry?
and i made no secret about it.
instead i would joke about me feather knocking, and made sure i had my bible in hand so as they come to the door they know what im about so they can shut me down before i even start.. i always wondered how or why there were people who enjoyed it.
I think it goes against the basic nature of a human to want to go up to a strangers door and talk about a topic that may/may not be controversial or well received.
That is why to get people to over ride that basic feeling you either have to give them a monetary reward (vacuum cleaner salesmen) or a prestigious status within the group they treasure (pioneer).
Everyone else just goes along to get along.
We are whipped into guilt induced cooperation by being told its the basic command of our time (Matt 24:14) and by peer pressure from family and friends in the Org.
It took being out of the Org for me to realize that the good feeling I felt after service was NOT joy from service but a giddy relief that it was DONE!
