  Thank you so much Apognophos for saying this.

  Which is fine, again, if the site were at exjwatheists.net, but since this is supposed to be a place to welcome people who are doubting or leaving the religion and are likely to still believe in God, it's rather self-centered and lacking in compassion to insist that they immediately catch up to where you got to, several years after leaving the religion.

  I don't know where I will end up but I do know it is supposed to be a process.

  There have been times around here that I have felt on the dumb side just for wanting to ask questions.

  I do understand why some don't want to go back to square one every time a "newbie" comes along.

  What I don't understand is the air of superiority.

  This isnt every poster however!

  I want that to be clear. I am meeting some of the most amazing and warm people here and am so glad to be posting with you all.

  so today's study is all about being kindly, and not judgemental to those in the congregation....we don't know their circumstances etc.... i can't believe the hypocrisy being spewed out...both in the article and by means of the answers from the audience!.

  we know the reality is so different!

  unless a witness does everything exactly as the gb directs...in every aspects of life, they are effectively no longer a good person, but are viewed as spiritually lacking or weak..... they are going directly beyond the biblical directives, and being ones who condemn, rather than ones who commend!.

  I decided to go sit in the back and listen to the comments.

  All of you are correct in your appraisals. At least in the Hall I was at.

  Lots of people afterward saying it was "so encouraging".

  This article stood out to me as different. I am left wondering what it means....

  there is great enthusiasm in many congregations in regard to the wonderful new way to sit around wasting time in the "ministry".

  so much easier than trotting from door to door.

  however, some who set up the literature/jw.org carts have noticed a disturbing phenomena:.

  I dont know when they start counting their time but I was shocked to learn that each JW has to assume the public liability for wherever they set up.

  For instance, if they locate in a Farmers Market, they have to contact the manager of the market and fill out the form in THEIR name, not the local congregations or JW.Orgs.

  So if you are a publisher, you go get the cart. You go to the location. If there is a fee or paperwork YOU pay it out of your own pocket.

  The Society gets all the credit (if there is any) and the pubs provide all the work and money.

  this announcement was 2 months ago but still is rather interesting.

  i get tired of using the argument of "the mystery of evil" to attack god but where are we when we see heroic acts of godly courage from great humans like dr. kent bradly and dr. nancy writebols wonderful works of love?

  did you listen to dr. kent bradley's concern and loving compassion for west africa?

  he's not angry superstitious mobs destroyed several make-shift medical facilities to treat victims of ebola, no, dr. bradly implored the world to "help save west africa".

  I have zero interest in arguing and a great deal if interest in learning.

  i was raised as a jehovahs witness.

  currently i still am part of a congregation, which i gather is also the case for many who come here.

  i no longer consider them god's chosen people.

  Read what I actually said. My comments are based on what religious people claim. I didn't say it had to make any sense.

  Something good happens: god did it

  Something bad happens: Satan did it (or bad luck...whatever).

  BTW, religious people do think they are the center of the universe. Everytime they pray for something they expect god to bend the laws of nature just for them...because they are so special.

  I did read what you said.

  For a lack of something to prove anything - you would first have to first establish that the "thing" (miracles, healing, whatever) had validity.

  Then you could build a case on why the "lack" actually meant something.

  IF there is no such thing as healing - then "no healing" is a wash also.

  I dont think you (or me) are able to speak for all religious people as to what they think or dont think.

  I love your posts - you have a great sense of humor. That still doesnt mean you are the spokesperson for religious people though.
