A question for my friends in the USA about cowboys.
by punkofnice inas a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.
later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.
we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.

Humbled, your post was fascinating. What a hard, unique and rewarding life you have lead.
You really should write about all of this.
I have always thought your posts here reflected a lot of depth. Now I understand why.

Why I Refuse to Accept the term APOSTATE
by Black Man inbeen going back in forth with my mom (who is a longtime pioneer and dyed-in-the-wool jw) about the term apostate.
she has labeled me one because of my fading and because i stopped attending meetings a few years ago.
i told her that i refuse to accept the term apostate because its a lazy way for the wts to not deal with dissenters and address why people are leaving this organization in droves.

Female presenter on JW Video
by Listener inthere is a video on jw org titled "what happens at a kingdom hall?
" i wouldn't suggest that you watch it as it's pretty sickly, as usual they are praying on emotions in order to encourage people to attend their halls.. the video is presented by a female but does show her face.
it just seems weird that they have allowed a woman to star in this very prominant role.

Was she really wearing a head covering?
This makes me wonder if one of the future things featured will be people giving their "true life" experiences of over coming hardships etc.
Inspirational stories. Similar to the "experiences" at assemblies (and probably just as manufactured).

Tv.jw.org - Average Jdub reaction? I'm getting NOTHING but Silence!
by 4thgen inhello all, as you know, when jw tv was announced, our board went wild.
many comments, much speculation and alot of negative feedback on the quality, etc.
well, what has me concerned is that i have not heard a peep from any of my connections left in kingdom-land.

Even over on excitement headquarters (the website JWTalk) there is very little exitement.
I was shocked by that as they tend to go on and on about every. little. thing.

Bumping this for the A.M. readers like me~
I dont understand one point in the letter though....
why would they want the old books placed in the ministry to make room for new ones?
Wouldnt they rather just return them and start out with new ones if they didnt want inaccurate info being studied?

2014 Annual Meeting Online
by toweragent ini don't know if anybody is interested, but they put the entire 2014 annual meeting online at tv.jw.org if you can stomach it.
it will be nice to finally verify or disprove some of the rumors that have been flying around.
enjoy!.

Around 3hrs into the Annual Meeting video, Mr. Lett is giving atalk regarding parables. He says that the ten virgins parable is about annointed christians staying faithful. Then he says that the "evil slave" parable in Matthew is also directed at annointed Christians if they were to not fullfill their duties (as in individually). I thought the Faithful slave was the Governing Body! But, the would be evil slave would be just the annointed Christians who proved unfaithful? This seems strange, since the "faithful slave" is said to be a 7 member governing body, but the "evil slave" is individual annointed Christians.
What tells me is that the GB is feeling the heat from the rest of the annointed not liking how they have been benched by the 7.
They must feel real pushed if they are gearing a talk just to the rest of the annointed that arent taking the changes well.
Can you imagine the letters they have gotten?

The more people who leave the Witnesses, the more people will leave. True?
by ThomasCovenant inif more faders stopped fading and just stopped,.
would more of the many closet unbelieving attendees just stop too, creating a momentum?.

I think the arguments above for no are sound ones.
However, I think there are MANY witnesses that stay for social and emotional reasons.
Lots of "followers".
If the key people they love would leave it would make it easier to leave also.
