I realised from a young age that prayer was a waste of time. I realised that if god really cared then the Elders kids that were held up as paragons of virtue by the cong , while we all knew they were going to nightclubs , were drinking alcohol & fornicating at every opportunity would be exposed but never were. That the same elders that were warning us of the dangers of materialism were driving around in flash cars ,living in expensive £1.000.000 houses (in the late 70s early 80s) basicly hypocritical scum. Not to mention the fact that brothers & sisters were being murdered & raped in Malawi even though we would pray for them at every meeting & mealtime at home proved that prayer is a total waste of time & that even if there was a god he didnt really give a flying F**K about us at all . Prayer is like Placebo medicine, It does no physical good but makes us feel better inside or gives hope no matter how unfounded that hope is.

When you were a JW, Did you think Prayers did any good?
by tresdecu inthe missing 21 year old woman in oregon got me thinking...so many jws comment on her fb page 'praying for you'...'constant daily prayers' etc.
what is the point?
i know it is a natural human emotion, to want to contribute in some small way when something bad happens.

We have a saying in London. If you cant take It then dont dish it out. As he said to the Scum laughing & screaming " She wants to act like a man Im going to treat her like a man" . I agree with him . As a man we know if you dis Another man or hit him He will no doubt hit you back. Hence why many men don't do those things & show restraint. Women & in my experience young black women somehow believe that no man will hit them no matter what they say or do , so they push & push getting more & more in a mans face insulting & pushing & hitting him until he slaps or hits back. The women will then become indignant saying how could you hit me Im female. As the saying goes " If you can't(or dont want) to take it, Then don't dish it out"

Brothers playing sports are so aggressive.
by Kaiser inthis summer i started to play football(soccer) with "wordly" people.
it s been so nice and relaxing without flashovers.. contrast for playing with witnesses is huge!

Something I always noticed was whenever anything like football or rounders or any game for tht matter by JWs, was that they always cheated at any game and when anyone pulled them up on it they said ITs only a game. My reply was always the same "If its only a game why are you cheating at it?

Glad so many young ones have the intelligence that their parents and elders don't. I was brought up a JW in the mid 70s mum was dfed in 1981 and dad left by the backdoor when they split I was 13ish. I went back in the mid 90s during a low period but had the good sense to leave again. Hopefully what I have learned since on sites like this and reading in COC i can pass on when people come knocking. For me the only thing worse than living in this system is living in the stepford wive paradise the witnesses promise . Im sorry but a life without BJs and only missionary position just won't cut it for me. I like imperfection because it makes life and other people interesting . The jWs have been promising paradise for over a century now and while many people are scared of dying your average JW is scared of living . I for one know whats the worst one of the two .

WT Society Appoints Elders/MS Based on " Functions " Performed - not ....

shown by men considered for elder or ms positions.
qualities or true positive character traits are not that important to the wt society in appointments of these men in jw congregations.. no, the real " qualifications " that a jw man needs to exhibit is being able to report 10 hours a month in knocking on people's doors offering wt and awake magazines !

I agree to get promoted to MS or Elder you need to wear brown lipstick. Its never mseemed to me to be dependent on spirituality, love for god or other witnesses, it was always dependent on who you knew which family you belonged to or married into. The daughters of Elders married other elders as they also wanted a peice of the prestige and power that had been bestowed on their mother. Young brothers who want to marry pretty sisters "reached out" and then those pretty sisters were drawn to these "spiritual brothers" The brothers were usually older and not so good looking. I would sometimes look at these sisters who had made the mistake of marrying this brother who was an elder window washer/cleaner and could see she was'nt happy and probably just wanted some passion in her life .
I never wanted to be a MS or elder as I never felt the need for power among the JWs and saw through the hypocrisy among the Elder elite . One example was a brother whose first name was rutherford was baptised was pally with a few high ups and was made upto MS within 6 months his only spiritual qualification was having the name Rutherford and going out doorknocking regulary. I also remember playing rounders( what baseball was called before yanks made it into the money making racket it is today ) oh and was also mainly a girls game. Anyway I digress We were playing this game and this elder kept cheating( for some reason when it comes to sports cheting is ok with JWs) I pulled him up about it and he did the whole Im an elder you should show me respect ! my retort was " respect is earned and you haven't earned mine" . Six months later it turned out that he had also been cheating on his wife for a while and was dfed when he finally left his wife.

in your opinion what is the best way to stop drinking?
by stuckinamovement ini have found myself drinking more and more since i realized that the truth was a lie just to quiet my mind.
it's not like i am a drunk or anything, it hasn't affected my work or relationships, it is that i really don't like being a slave to anyone or anything including delicious beer.
mmmm beer.... so to avoid being a slave to a habit, i have determined to stop drinking.

Something has really annoyed me and I need to get it off my chest

i'm sorry but i really need to vent about this.... g was saying how she'd taken my son to the beach yesterday.
she parked away from the seafront so had to walk through the fairground to get to the beach.

I have worked for west indians in london over the years both on a fruit and veg stall in croydon a for a family of kitchen fitters . I found racism rife in this group and suffered it personally. Racism is something that is prevelant from all races black, white, asian, arabic and jewish. White people have been told for decades that we are inherently racist and black people have it inbred into them that we are that way. We as a whole have been blamed for slavery but we should not forget that it was black africans that sold black africans into slavery and the british were the first to outlaw it. In fact it was'nt just william wilberforce but whole british towns and cities that signed petitions for it to be stopped. WHITE cities. We in the uk are the most accomadating with regards to immigration but many have had enough of being overlooked for jobs because of cheap eastern european labour . losing out on housing to people who have just arrived here. Imported criminals stating human rights to get out of deportation and punishment.
