I'm an atheist, but have yet to use the ouji board. I, on the other hand, have had much experience with spirits and supernatural phenomena. I really want to try the ouji board, but my wife gets freaked when I talk about it.

Anyone Remember The Chaperone Thing?
by Englishman inback when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.
round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.
folks, i am talking about chaperoning!

My ex hated the chaperone thing. She always said that if something was going to happen it would no matter who was there. She also said that if there was always someone there you would never be able to get to know the other person. Needless to say neither of us attend any meetings and haven't for at least three years. When I lived in Arizona my best friend just happened to be a female. We weren't supposed to talk on the phone with someone of the opposite sex so my landlord who was a witness tattled on me and the elders talked to me. I pretty much told them that if they thought they were going to tell me who I was going to talk to and who I wasn't and who I was going to hang around with and who I wasn't then they could go f*ck themselves. They weren't to pleased. Actually shocked was a good word for it. I was a very outspoken person if you couldn't tell.

I was just telling my wife about having to hide as a kid from trick or treaters, as we were walking our daughter from door to door trick or treating. I made the comment that she'd make a good JW with all the doors she was knocking on, but didn't get any laughs!

"Band of Brothers" & "Why We...
by Nathan Natas inwwii was my father's war, my uncles' war.
my dad was with the army in germany, and my marine uncle returned from iwo jima.. being raised as a 'dub, i had no connection to any of that until it was too late.. for that reason the hbo series "band of brothers" holds special interest for me.
these were the 18 year old kids my dad and his brothers went to school with.. anybody else following the series?.

I've studied warfare ancient and new from age five on up. The series, Band of Brothers, is one of the best portrayels of what went on during WWII, and how these soldiers reacted and bonded.

for married people only
by teejay inthere's a running debate i have going with my wife.
i have the opinion that it is very possible for married people to have friends of the opposite sex without the idea of a sexual encounter entering into the picture.
she disagrees, saying that once you're married, the marriage mate should be enough to offer you all you need in the way of companionship, conversation,etc.. let's say you're running an errand at the mall and happen to see someone of the opposite sex that you have known for years (your mate knows/doesn't know them... doesn't matter) and you decide to grab a cup of coffee and have a two-hour chat.

My best friend is female. We've been friends for a long time and my wife has no problem with me spending time with her or talking on the phone with her for as long as I want. She also has a best friend that is male and the same applies for her. I have no problems with it. Trust is a big key to a happy marriage.

Family About to Disown Me
by Moridin inwell i finally got the guts to tell my mother that i had enlisted in the army.
she didn't say a whole lot to me, but she did tell my sister she was calling the elders and that when i was df'd she would have nothing to do with me.
i can't say that it suprises me too much, but i was hoping for more of an adult reaction.

I too believe that she'll start to really respect my decision after a little while, I'm just glad that she isn't going to disown me over it. Eyebrow, your question about my wife, she is not a JW and never was one nor had any relatives that are or were. So some of the things she sees going on upsets her because she doesn't understand the background enough. But my mother likes her a lot and I'm sure everything will be good while I'm gone.

Well I got some news from my mother today that shocked me. She called me up and said that she thought it over and decided that she had been selfish because I was her only son and that she would accept the decision that I made and support it. I was pretty suprised...what a change from the other day.
