Once upon a time, at a JC meeting, one of the elders asked 'about how many men did you do it with'? I was annoyed and thought this is none of his business...so I lied. He acted like he was REALLY interesting in all the details, which is completely unnecessary. He later got DF'd, divorced and was jobless...a fitting end.

Judicial Committee Meetings Sexual Matters
by Celestial inanyone had three elders (judicial committee) question you on sex before marriage?.
case in point, being raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, i partied with peers that were witnesses by tradition, inherent faith.
at the age of eighteen (1992), i was conversing about the elders with a group of witnesses, and a girl who had been before a judicial committee chimed in and said, they ask questions that are none of their fucking business.

So What Would You Do If You Won $550,000,000?
by Mary inok, so the mega millions jackpot is at half a billion dollars.
if you won and decided to take it in a lump sum, you automatically lose 40%, then there's state and federal taxes, so you'd actually get a 'meazly' $240,000,000.. what would you do if you won that kind of money?
other than donate a chunk to the world-wide-wit-lessing-work..........

The idea of a charity for disfellowship JW kids would be a great idea, it would really be a thorn in the side of the GB!
I would travel to tropical islands in the winter and learn to surf. In the summer, I would vacation in Austria.
My parents and brother would refuse any of my money, as it would have been received by illict means.
My apostate brother would be given a chunk, and hopefully be able to improve his life.
My hubby wouldn't be above accepting a ranch and a new truck.

I took the pill as a JW many years ago. I never asked anyone for 'permission' before I got the prescription.
It is nice to know that my main purpose in life is to bear other human beings...I have fulfilled my duty...lol! Here I was hoping to find meaning in my life, and I totally missed why I was here...

Just make soup. Break out a loaf of bread. Something very small...or collect money for take-out pizza.
Maybe, if it is just her and her son, she is lonely at supper time, and wants to have human interaction, a family type meal and doesn't realize she is being obtuse. If her not helping with the dishes bothers you, why don't you suggest "Jane, why don't you help me dry the dishes.

Will Embracing the Internet lead to Increased Growth for the Watchtower?
by jwfacts inmore important than the reduction in the size of the new magazine is that the watchtower will be actively promoting its website and encouraging people use it to download magazines.
my concern is that this has the potential to lead to an increase in growth for the watchtower.. the door-to-door preaching work has been one of the most inefficient means imaginable to gain converts, and done little more than tie up the time of active jws.
now, by directing people to the internet, witnesses can spread their message at an alarming rate for little cost.. do you feel that this has the potential to lead to a surge in growth of jehovah's witnesses?

Maybe they are trying to distance themselves from the name 'Watchtower', so it looks more biblical, rather than odd. How many people in places other than the Eurasian Continent, even know what a watchtower is? I've never seen one in North America, except the odd cranulated tower on some of the old KHs.
'Watchtower' magazine is associated with annoying people pounding on your door on Saturday morning. Yet, you may actually LIKE a JW that you work with, as long as they aren't constantly preaching at you, so you may be curious enough to look up their religion. I doubt anyone is curious enough to look up the magazine.

I remember a sister in Ohio who was raising her grandchildren, due to their mother being a crack-head and unfit mother. She kept having babies, sex paid for her drugs, and her mother kept taking them. The brothers at the KH told the sister to stop expecting the people at the KH to support her grandkids and the next time she needed something to check with Salvation Army, and other religious organizations for the things she needed.
I'm not saying the elders at the KH were wrong. Her daughter needed to stop having kids and expecting mom to take them. Her daughter needed to be in a rehab clinic, but she didn't want to be rehabilitated. It was a no win situation.

Why Elders leave the Organization and why their Wives stay.
by stuckinamovement ini have talked to quite a few brothers who have served as elders and servants and left the organization.
in most cases their wives have remained in despite the husbands best efforts to persuade his wife that the organization is wrong.
even though the wife can see problems within they continue to press on in service to the society.

sickandtired-You sound like you have been peeking inside my head. Your words exactly describe my position, down to your feelings about your mother. Do you end up using the incognito browser like I do? My hubby wants me to get help from the elders because he feels it is beyond him to help me too! I don't particularly feel like I need that kind of help. Here's to hoping you find peace and happiness in your life!

Silent-This post definitely touches a nerve for me. I grew up with the same circumstances and ridiculous JW sayings that you did. Being commended for being faithful, then it turns around to being not humble. All the things we missed out on.
My daughter commented yesterday that it was against the bible to have birthday parties. I told her, 'actually, the bible doesn't say anything about birthday parties being bad', so she amended it to, 'we believe birthday parties are bad'. I'm hoping that by continually pointing out that things we are taught are true, really aren't in the bible at all, or are corrupted to sound a certain way, to keep control of everyone.
