T-shirts and shorts dont imply a lack of dignity any more than suits and ties imply dignity
by passwordprotected inwe have to love the thinking of the governing body.. someone t-shirts and shorts imply that their wearer is undignified.
would you agree?

Anxiety attacks and Door to Door Activity...what have you observed?
by Momma-Tossed-Me induring door to door activity in the distant past i have had the experience of witnessing actual anxiety attacks of jw's who could not handle that required preaching on that day and on more than one occasion.. this is what i have seen on multiple occassions.. extreme headaches, upset stomach to the point of vomiting, visible trembling before even approaching the door, arguments with spouses and children, signs of elevated blood pressure, light sensitiity, a total character change, and basicly a complete shut down to the point of limited communication.
yes we all have butterflies in the stomach associated with certain activities but what i am talking about here bodily affliction to the point of physically affecting the individual in some cases for the rest of the day.. these symptoms are obviously present for some newbie to this type of activity but i have observed this from people who have been exposed to this type of work for years.
i think the body just cannot handle the stress anymore, and the marination in the hormones associated with it.

Nambo-Your comment is, to me, profound! I forgot all about that scripture, but you are right! Not all of us were 'gifted' in the door to door ministry. I reacted like the people in Momma's comment, and had to take anti-anxiety meds to get me through it.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

The "worlds" view of the preaching work- pretty accurate
by stuckinamovement intrue story ........so i was standing in line at the hardware store yesterday, picking up some garden stuff and happened to catch the conversation in front of me.
the man in front of me was buying a no soliciting sign.
the checker asked "who is this for, girl scouts?

Around here, you see more and more "No Trespassing" signs, even in town, ever since it got out that the WTBTS told publishers NOT to call at those doors or to do so at their own risk. If they call at the No Trespassing' homes, the home owner has legal recourse to prosecute for trespassing and the borg will not help you legally.

Aulicino once gave a talk at my parents KH. He said 'If there are any here that are pedophiles, get up and get out, we don't want you'. He was the only Bethel speaker I've ever heard of who came down hard on child molesters.

Kids being Sent to the Doors Alone
by TOTH ini saw something weird yesterday on my way out the door.
a hispanic jw mom had two kids of about ages 10 and 12 with her carrying invites to the memorial or maybe to the special talk.
anyways she sent the girl up the stairs alone to place whatever and the boy to a downstairs apartment.

The practice of sending kids alone to doors is dangerous. In one nearby village, I did a check on convicted sexual predators, I was astounded to learn 9 lived in this tiny village. The housing is cheap, many of the homes have been converted to cheap rental units. The reason I looked it up was, my hubby had been out in service with a sister and her beautiful young daughter and niece. The mother kept sending the girls by themselves to doors. Finally, my hubby told her not to send them to doors where they could not be observed from the street.

Reading the accounts of these childrens' deaths at the hands of various religious groups is an exercise in sheer madness! What a tragedy so many of these kids lives were lost due to the cult entrenched beliefs their parent have. How very sad.
