I like her too, I was a young teen at the height of her career. My parents didn't have a stereo, they still don't have anything for music, so I had to listen to her on an am station on a little plug in alarm clock/radio or when I was in a car. She was really good.

What the Watchtower needs to do to survive.
by jwfacts indrop its teaching on paradise earth.. the primary issue facing the watchtower results from it's teaching that members will never die, but live forever on this earth in paradise.
this teaching is cause of most of the doctrinal failures, and will be its eventual demise.. the promise of never dying is one of the foremost motivations for people that join the religion, and the message of living forever in paradise is compelling.
however, it is also the watchtower's achilles heel, as it forces false predictions of the nearness of the end.

Horrid Time for Me
by Band on the Run inmy pain has been in remission.
i have a morphine pump.
pain broke through toward the end of the medication.
-

Band-I'm so sorry to hear about the return of your pain. It must be intense...morphine isn't handed out that easily. The mental fear of pain, like you are dealing with, is also very debilitating and scary and can lead to panic/anxiety attacks (this coming from someone experienced with it). I hope that you are able to beat this pain back again and resume your life.
Steve2 has talked about acceptance therapy, I've tried it (having found a book on the subject), and it does seem to help some. The mind is powerful. Steve2 could probably help you understand it better than I ever could.
My you have relief soon! HUGS!

Could you 'Wake Up Happy' if you were an active Witness, knowing what you know now? (A 2012 Convention invitation)
by ScenicViewer ina convention invitation.
i came home the other day and found an invitation to the upcoming district convention in my door.
i don't believe these are left in the doors of the general public, so a well-meaning witness must have been thinking of me, even though i have not been to the kh in about 7 years.. the leading question on the front immediately got my attention, and made my jaw drop a bit.. i thought i would ask the forum, .

sinedie, Just about all of us know exactly what you are talking about. After about a year of a fade, I am really much happier now, though my friend count is down. My own mind is no longer plagued with guilty feelings about not liking the status quo the borg feeds people. Give yourself time.

Anyone who has never had post-partum depression cannot possibly understand the completely unwanted and unwarranted feelings that come with it. These feelings are irrational. She never should have killed her children, yet she felt compeled to kill. This is not normal. Her family in Canada seemed to realize how bad things were, as they went fairly frequently to the UK to help her. Was she being treated for her depression? She will never be able to come to grips with her horrible actions.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

truman-I am sending you hugs and tears on this difficult, difficult day.

Was everyone surprised by how nice worldly people can be?
by Inisc ini, like most born ins grew up being taught that everyone who was not a jw was inherently wicked, that they were dishonest, unloving, selfish, bad parents who don't care about their children, and also sad empty people with no direction in life.. as i grew older i started to see that this wasn't always true with every one, that what i was taught wasn't equating with what i was seeing.. by high school i could see that my friends at school, (yes worldly friends eek!
) we're actually decent people with morals, they may have engaged in a little fornication here and there but not promiscuously, and they were good honest people, with goals and parents that cared for them.. but after high school i was phsycologicaly bullied into ceasing contact with my friends altogether, leaving me with little contact with outside world, and the cult mentality had more room to grow, not fully, but enough to unconsciously not fully trust 'worldly' people.. however, once i'd left the org and began to meet people again, i was amazed at actually how good, honest, loving, kind, and caring many people can be!
who love their spouses and children and try their very best to be good parents and partners.

I was always suspicious of everyone. My parents did their best to alienate us from my extended family. I am only now rediscovering these people I lost 30 years ago. They seem to care more about how I am doing than my own parents do. It is a sad thing to contemplate the amount of damage done to those of us here in this regard.

Welcome Apollo! I've never heard of them making up a new card, just to DF you. Maybe some of the former elders on this site can answer that question. Isn't it interesting how many times 'encouragement' takes the form of threats and coercion from family and friends?

Truman-Just thinking of you and your family today. I hope that you and your family are getting the support you all need right now from those around you. You have the support of all of us here, but sometimes, one needs to feel hugs and support from physical sources. Please give your husband, son and daughter-in-law the love from all of us here.
