Hi guess i may have to introduce myself
by rickisteel inhi im from the uk im 42 years old , i was brought up as a witness from birth to 12 years of age i left the meetings with my parents ,.
i had a wild youth was a bit of a rebel involving alcohol ,drugs , heavy metal and motorcycles , i was thrown out of home at 17 my sister was 14. and was discarded as my parents remarried and neither of there new partners wanted us (baggage) , anyway by the time i was married and 21. somebody spiked my pizza with lsd (cant remember the flavour ) and for the next 3 days i thought the world was ending , i called my dad and rambled some stuff to him ( cant remember exactly but the world was ending in my head) a little while later i got a witness call briefly , i found out where he lived and went and asked him for a bible , he suggested i have a bible study me and the wife took the offer and so it began again , i was baptised in 93 and went from strength to strength in the truth , aux pioneering , volunteered for everything , talks , cleaning , meeting parts etc was soon appointed and moved on giving public talks , assembly parts , shepparding calls etc , then in 1997 my wife fell down a kerb and damaged her cruciate ligaments several operations later and disabled ( by the way the brothers /sisters in the cong were great at this point ) my wife began to act odd 1n 1999 she tried to take her own life and over the next several years took 26 overdoses and spent much of her life in phychiatrict hospital in 2001 she was bi polar disorder type rapid cycling (not the common oh i feel a bit low type bi polar but the full blown rollercoaster ride bi polar) .
the thing that struck me was i began to feel like a leper and despite a couple of close friends nobody in the cong or on the circuit( long time friends) seemed to care , i brouht up the kids on my own visiting my wife in hospital and caring for her at home , i felt so alone , when i used to take the kids to the meeting / assembly on my own i just got tutts and sad headshakes "she not come" ?

Jehovah's Witnesses dismayed by new magazine format from Watchtower Society.
by Balaamsass inwow.
i was surprised this week by calls from active jws complaining about the new magazine format, and more begging for money from the platform.. frankly i was surprized by this reaction since this is old news to jwn members.
i guess actually shuffling to the bookroom and grabbing the new "awake tracts" minus the inside cover forward ...awakened many sleepy, catatonic, bored jws who never read the things or go on the internet anyway.. any feedback from other areas?.

My mother passed away this morning...
by Tatiana infor any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.
she had been in the hospital for a month.
it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).

Tatiana, I am so sorry for your loss. I just saw this thread, and apologize for not posting sooner. I hope that you will have a decent trip to your mom's funeral. Love to you and your niece.

Invited to Attend a J W Kangaroo Court Proceeding: Tell Them to: Put the Reason for Requesting Your Presents in Writing Along With Any Alleged Charges of Wrong Doing, So You Can Give it To Your Lawyer.
by frankiespeakin inby doing this the elders have to contact hq to get further instructions.
in many cases they will think it just not worth the red tape to proceed any further.
unless they concider you a real bad apple or threat that needs to be delt with in which case it should hold them off for a couple of months till they get direction from hq.. the wt is being threatened with law suits, they have to deal with big legal concideration of child molestation and other areas as the public is become less and less tollerant of wacko religions with abusive behavior.

skeeter-This is an important topic. Many mothers sabotage their own kids, forcing their own fears upon their offspring. My mother tried to, and sometimes succeeded, in doing this to me, but I got out of the house. I never did get the education I wanted, but did end up with a decent job in law enforcement.
Since having my own kids, I have established time thresholds for them to be out of the house and on their own, telling them by the age of 23, they WILL be out, living their own lives. My teenager wants to move to an expensive, tropical area. Many who hear of his plans pooh pooh him, including my mother, but I keep telling him to go for it. Get an apartment there and look for room mates, find a niche not being filled very well job wise, get as much education as you possibly can.
It is always sad to see people leading stunted lives. Kids need to make mistakes to grow into strong adults. Parents need to let their kids fail sometimes and not pick up the pieces for them.
There are occasions when an adult child may need to temporarily live with the parents i.e., house fire, health, downsizing...but don't make your adult kid dependent on you, and adult kids, don't let your parents make you dependent on them...live you own life...get out of the house.

FREE Home Bible Study?!?!?
by Christ Alone inso i finally took a deep breath and watched the annual meeting report.
i found a little nugget before the "new light" discussion began.
there was a report about the "public preaching" that was taking place in manhattan.

Regarding bibles-I received one at a local county fair, there were people just handing them out...I was also approached, ironically enough, while sitting in my car at the grocery store, by a woman who was handing out bibles and literature. She saw me glance at her, making eye contact and offering a smile, and she decided to offer me her literature and bible. She seemed very nice, and I'm sure I looked like every 'householder' ever encountered who was too nice to refuse what we were offering in FS, lol!
