The essence of oligarchical rule is not father-to-son inheritance, but the persistence of a certain world-view and a certain way of life, imposed by the dead upon the living. A ruling group is a ruling group so long as it can nominate its successors. The Party is not concerned with perpetuating its blood but with perpetuating itself. Who wields power is not important, provided that the hierarchical structure remains always the same. -Orwell:1984
I don't think they'd care, insofar as it would be a setback to their goal of getting more members, and that it would make the remaining ones question.
From what I've seen, they really are only concerned with making sure that the members currently in the org, stay loyal to the org.Doctrine is secondary, and only important in that members accept the current meaning as "the truth".
In it's essence,it's nothing more than a nasty meme that's only concerned with survival.Hence the continuing assault on free thought, disfellowshipping(to limit exposure to those who do break free), and the constant defensive articles and policy switches, trying to "shore up" areas where they can be questioned, subsequently allowing people to break free of said meme.
I firmly believe that if the entire orginization did a complete overhaul of their belief system, the most important aspect would be not whether the new beliefs were correct, but making sure that the remaining members stay loyal to the org,no matter what.Looking back,JW's of today are quite different in what they believe, than JW's of a hundred years ago. They are even different than JW's a decade ago,but regardless of the time period, they were all equally convinced the governing body was absolutely correct.
Oh,btw,hi :) I've lurked for a while,but I haven't actually posted.Great board you have here.
