I love the show. Exciting finale, can't wait for the next season. I loved the quote Hershel made. "Jesus spoke of the ressurection of the dead, but I thought he had something a little different in mind" for some reason that totally cracked me up.

Are JW`s really bible based ? Can they really claim that ? In all honesty ?
by smiddy inthe religion of jehovah`s witnesses is not bible based , their beleifs are not based on what the bible says.. the bible doesnt keep changing its words , it`s basically the same today as it was centuries ago.. what the jw`s taught quoting a bible scripture in years gone by is not the same thing being taught today using the same scripture and no doubt wont be the same thing taught using the same scriptures in the future.. their beleifs are based on what interpretation the governing body gives scriptures at any given time and every time they re-interpret the scriptures everybody follows suite.the writings of russell, rutherford, knorr, franz, etc bear testimony to that fact.. the bible hasn`t changed but the teachings of jehovah`s witnesses is in a constant state of change.. so at what stage is the religion of jehovah`s witnesses" the truth" ?.
if what they taught yesteryear is not what they teach today then they have never had the truth.. if what they teach today is the truth then they never had it previously.
and one thing you can be certain of what they teach today wont be what they teach in the near future.

It is amazing to listen to Judicial Committees, they constantly reference the literature. If there are questions about the bible..."let's see what the literature has to say on that"
When I asked my questions, it was always "lets look up the literature"...why can't we just go to the bible? hmm?
Great new JC on youtube (user/anondude2) when he brought up..."this is what Jesus said"...they explained how "Paul expanded on that" I guess, Paul was new light. Who needs Jesus, he is old light (jaw hit the floor). Also when questioning, the elder said "if you want to talk about the bible, we don't have time for that" That was classic, that is the reality of it.
The WT is bible based when using the bible to keep you down, make you feel stupid, to control, etc. The WT is not about what the bible says, it's just about how it can be used to keep the R&F in line. Peppering the literature with a certain number of over used scriptures (while ignoring the majority of the bible) does not bible based make.
It boils down to, where are your loyalties to This Organization, who cares what the bible says, where are your loyalities to This organization. Seems many of the discussions I have listened to myself, all end with that. Even the WT (reasoning from the scriptures) definition of apostacy is "believes in the bible, but reject Jehovah's organization" Doesn't matter if it proves itself over and over again to be anything BUT Jehovah's organization, it is all about the organization.

Help on: GB comparing themselves to Moses, Jesus, Prophets
by DesirousOfChange ini've had a discussion with a friend concerning the gb or org being "inspired" or "spirit-directed" or a "prophet".
i found the great strings about claiming prophet status (particularly 04/01/1972 wt and 10/01/1982 wts).. it seems i recall a wt or other publication where they compared themselves to moses, or even jesus as the one channel being used by jehovah.
while i don't recall any claim of "inspiration", there are dozens using "spirit-directed organization".. interestingly, note the reference to jesus:.

They do compare themselves to Jesus, even wrote themselves into this prophecy as equal to Jesus.
June 15, 2012 page 8 Par 4 (study edition - you just won't find this kind of craziness in the public edition)
"Soon after the rebellion in Eden, Jehovah made a promise that a "woman" would produce a "seed." (Read Genesis 3:15.) That seed would eventually bruise the serpent, Satan, in the head. Jehovah later revealed that the seed would come through Abraham, belong to the nation?of Israel, be a Judean, and be a descendant of King David. (Gen. 22:15-18; 49:10; Ps. 89:3, 4; Luke 1:30-33) The principal part of that seed proved to be Christ Jesus. (Gal. 3:16) The secondary part of the seed is made up of the spirit anointed members of the Christian congregation. (Gal. 3:26-29) Jesus and these anointed ones unite to form God's Kingdom, the instrument with which God will crush Satan.—Luke 12:32; Rom. 16:20." -

Memorial - Why do i keep going?
by maisha inevery year i attend, missing only 5 in 50 years.. i do not attend meetings nor active in anyway, my family shun me,(all devote believers) but i do feel drawn to attend each year.
i am out for sure, but i no longer have faith, or a belief in any religous body as being approved by god.. i am so screwed up now i not sure if i believe in a creator!, let alone who or what that may be.. i was born into the truth, married into the truth and my ex is devote.. i could never return to the cult now seeing it for what it is.. i served, donated, slaved for years happy to do so as has all my family.. i went out of my way to get df, sort of a wanting to die act, of rejecting the society.. i used to sit in a movie in my youth and think, wow i am so lucky, all these people are going to die and i will live forever.. even just typing this gives release to my emotions,, lol,,, yea i have many emotions,,, many regrets, basically the organisation i followed and the instructions destroyed my life in every possible way.. the power plays that i witnessed within are what first woke me up,,,at first i let it go, forgiving those involved as brothers do.
but again and again power and position is and was the thing to have, you got the power you got everything.

Judge Rutherford
by goddidit inplease could someone tell me the significance of this text that i found at.
http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/thpg9b658rq9ig6n6.
if you don't think the watch tower society is a liar and hides information from their people, just go to their site, www.watchtower.org - at their site is a search function.

Well for instance, he was the originator of "millions now living will never die", where are they now? Dead. Huge false prophecy there. WT later changed the title to "Millions now living MAY never die" but that does erase all the news paper articles, etc, promoting WILL never die.
Mention Beth Sarim to the average JW and maybe 1 out of a 100 have even heard of it. It was a mansion Rutherford bought for the prophets of the bible, when they were resurrected in 1925. Again, they were no shows, false prophecy. Then it was sold as "serving it's purpose" really? The prophets were ressurected? Hmm.
It goes on and on.
There is so much documented about this man, it's unreal. Yet JW's really have no clue about him, other than he was once President. One of the core doctrines of the WT is that, Jesus chose this man. Jesus chose this man's organization. Jesus chose this organization to be His, and this man was running the show at the time. Good luck trying to find out anything about this man as an active JW. So much about this man has been stripped from the WT history, even tho the basis of the WT being "god's organization" is based on this man.
It is just interesting.

What are they hiding? The truth. The WT is famous for re-writing it's literature to cover up it's mistakes. To omit things to make themselves look better. To flat out lie.
Judge Rutherford was a bastard to the 10th power. The WT has worked very hard to cover up his history.

1984 has totally rocked my world!
by serenitynow! inso i read 1984, or at least part of it at the urging of my logic professor, years ago back when i was an inactive jw.
it was a good scary read; i was like, wow, life sucks for that dude!
i did not see any correlations to my jw world at that time.

I too read 1984 before my wake up. Zoom right over my head. After my wake up, I didn't even need to re-read it, it was all I could think about.
Hubby recommended I read it. I can look back over our years together and see many of his gentle nudges, trying to wake me up. He must have been so frustrated when I just didn't see.

Attention: Active JWs who post videos on YouTube...
by Alfred in...specifically, those who tend to block the comments field:.
if you are firmly convinced that you have the truthtm and that nothing anybody says can convince you that you really dont, why do you find it absolutely necessary to block anyone from posting their comments?.
what you are doing, essentially, is preventing viewers from examining all the evidence as the bible clearly mandates in deu 18:20-22, 1 tes 5:21, 1 john 4: 1, etc.. so why not allow people to scrutinize all the comments and work out their own conclusions?

Yup they love to block anything that makes them think.
JW's who make videos and then block comments really do themselves a disservice. I know for myself, if they block the comments and I have something to say....I just make a response video (/user/Danmera) Blocking doesn't work. To me, it just shows you are afraid of the truth, and you prefer your little bubble.
What I am so amazed at is just how many active JWs there are commenting on apostate videos. (taking their word for it they are JWs) For myself, I would have NEVER looked when I was still a believer. It wasn't until I lost faith, and started to see thru the sham, that I started to look. Even then, I would literally break out in sweats.
Ironically, it was an article on the official site (june 22, 2000 awake), and a talk at the DC (2011 Beware of enemies of the kingdom: Apostates) that was instrumental in me jumping into research with both feet. Read the article to gear up and protect myself from the info on the net , and the talk did EVERYTHING they warned of in the article. It was like whoa, I didn't realize the WT was the one I needed protection from.

I personally now know way to much about the reality of this organization to ever live that lie again. Yes many of them are well meaning folks, but it is not worth it to me.
The love they show is soo conditional on you staying in line, you thinking as they think, you turning your mind and your will over to the GB (we love the leader). To me, now that I see the whole picture, nothing is worth the table scraps of conditional love.
It took time, but I have developed new friends, new family. It was amazing, I got in a fight with one of them, a real doozy of a disagreement. I thought our friendship was over, why? because I grew up with conditional love. Difference of opinion meant, we can no longer speak to each other. She was like, what's the big deal? We can fight and still be friends. WHOA? Seriously? It was my first real lesson in what love and acceptance really was.
