What do you think about this?

there's so much going on in my life right now but i'll be posting more about that later.. .

to get straight to the point (i'm actually in the meeting right now) my mother has been very depressed about a lot of things lately.

she is a regular pioneer and is a jw who many think is happy but she's a good faker and knows all to well how to put on a fake smile to cover up her true feelings.

The problem for the WT is that most of us who have children old enough for college, remember very well, we were never going to need college. We are all now middle aged, and turns out we sure could have used that education.

It's like any dictatorship, or cult or anything, control get too tight, people are going to rebel. The control is getting tighter and tighter, the dogma is getting more fanatical, their equalling themselves to God and Jesus more pronounced. I do think for many, they are having trouble defending it, at least to themselves. The cogs of denial are starting to lose their spokes.

I wish you all the best, but I do agree with your gut, I would take her up on it, but I would tread lightly.

ohmygosh!!!

one of my friends who is a ms told me today that the elders have 'marked' me because i'm a reg.pioneer and i've decided to go to college next semester???!

he said he can't tell me anymore but to be careful---what the hell does 'mark' mean?

Good advice going around.

And most active JWs tell us who have left, been kicked out, marked whatever, "you had to have sinned". (I left my husband, an abusive "brother". That wasn't scriptural grounds for leaving they said) However, there are a quite a number of us, who like you, found out the truth about the "truth. (finding out the reality of the WT came YEARS later for me)

I do believer serious sin is forgiven much easier than seeing behind the curtain. Can't have you know the truth about the truth, you must love the leader. If you don't love the leader, they will take steps to make you.

Jim Jones had a hot box. Some cults use food, or other punishments. JWs get emotional blackmail. Star chamber intimidation tactics, marking, (you don't think everyone knows exactly who is being marked?) etc.

Reality is, they really have NO power over you, only what you give them. Don't let them intimdate you, but play it cool, until you are sure what you want to do. You don't want to tip that boat, until your life jacket is in place.

i'd like for you to share songs that sound atmospheric and conjure up feelings of night air or a smokey room, the energy of the ocean's roar or capture the joy of a party or celebration.

the songs can be transportive and take you other places by their sound and the visuals they evoke from the stories they tell.. my first one is from tim mcgraw.

thanks for all the help, i was wondering how to get my hands on the old literature, i was gonna ask this nice older brother i know if he could get me some old books?

i really wanna see the failed proph...... old light for myself.

I really wish I had my grandmothers old library. She had the whole library. She had everything back to Russells day. She also had the holy grail. All the published magazines, she bound herself, she never bought the revised bound volumes. (She was just frugal, she had no idea - I'm sure- that they had been revised)

I just keep my eyes and ears open. I also ask. I have been particularly interested in the Rutherford Rainbow. My collection is almost complete *rubs hands together manically*

I am still on the look out for the Finished Mystery.

I have paid for (gack) a couple of them, but most have been given to me.

Remarrying, then paradise =problem?

this is a question i always wondered about and never got an answer to.. its also another reason why i'm finding it harder to believe in an 'afterlife'.. th idea that humans can live forever, now seems so scientificly impossible.. so i wanted to ask all the great minds on here,.

if someone's spouse dies, and then they remarry,then armageddon comes and goes then the deceased is resurrected,.

how,is that ever gonna work?

Till death do us part. Crawling out of a grave is pretty much proof they were dead. But yah, if it were real, hurt feelings. To the deceased, they just fell asleep, it's only a second to them, so the WT teaches. Would be a bummer. Or polygamy will be OK'd in the bible. But then again, according to the literature, women are going to turn into men anyway, so what's the big deal.
