not really sure how to take you sulla. a lot gets lost in translation typing on the internet, as opposed to face to face communication. here is what i can tell: the archaeological information is available, the scientific method is available, the data is available - we dont need some opportunist dip shit to compile it for the 400th time to tell us what we already know. that is one of the reasons i like this web site, on the other web sites i see a lot of opportunism, cloaked in relivancy. my friend bohm here is looking at this for entertainment purposes i believe, which is cool. but you waving sarcasm at me is fairly entertaining in itself. it's tantamount to looking for an argument on the topic of autobots and decepticons, then seeking to expose me for not knowing how many times megatron called starscream a dim witted panic monger. you want to spend your time reading books that compile facts that are publically available to any researcher, one has 1400 pages one has 1300 pages, spending your time doing that cool, but just know really its fiction, and entertainment. so lets argue some transformers facts, i'm going to pull out my transformers bible now.

i find myself asking that question more and more of late.. my first reason is the claim of a virgin birth.

all of the jewish sources i read say that isaiah 7:14 does not talk about a virgin birth, but rather a birth to a young maiden.

it was only the greek septuagint that shifted this belief to a virgin birth that is similar to their greek myths.. .

haha he gets that from his father. it's interesting to see where jefferson was on his biblical perspective. it's a very sensible approach. the only problem is once you turn it into a secular book of life lessons, there is no longer any need to raise nations against eachother in bloodshed. so what good is that!?!??!

i'll write a 1400 page book regarding ancient greece, and why the evidence is that Zeus (Jezus - ZeusJ) was/is in fact real. (doesn't matter much thousands of years after the fact). I like the way in the WT reasoning book, if you look under supporting evidence that jesus lived....the entire evidence is some guy named tacitus the roman , wrote in his log that christos suffered and died. dazzling! I like the WT teaching on jesus talking to peter telling him he is the rock of the congregation, look in the insight book for that gem. it actually says he wasn't telling peter he was the rock, he was saying he(jesus) was the rock, and it was just a misunderstanding. ok hmm yea sure ok sounds good. wait what? peter up until that time was named simon? and then at the very moment that jesus was talking about the rock of the congregation, he re-names simon to peter or petros or ROCK, and it's just a coincidence, nothing to see here. it's all phony and its ALLLLL cognitive dissonance.

thought this was a good thread to insert this one. i actually had it explained to me once by an elder, and i know this was not his own teaching, because i can tell when they are speaking someone elses words - of someone higher up in the society. he said that there is a difference between deception and lying, deception is ok in many cases but lying isn't.....i'd be willing to bet good money others on here have heard that whispered to them as well since some of these guys are ex-elders. some brilliant logic there eh? these are the people denouncing this behavior in the heaviest terms then setting it up as an institionalized policy.(i saw a headline the other day that said "al qaeda on the brink of collapse?", well they aint the only ones). unshackled's post being another point, and i know there is a lot more info like that as well, that goes into hitting much harder on the subject. and yet if they do it, it's deception and it's ok, if others do it, it's lying and prepare for df hammer.

to me the logic is simple. you either say lying is ok sometimes (which they say the opposite), or you dont. changing the wording to seem crafty is really bad. "hey you lied about that, i thought we never lie", *crafty grin* "ah ha! no i deceived him young man. keep studying and you will be a big intellectual powerhouse like me someday."....uhh you mean a crazy man in deep self denial?

hello everybody.. even thinking about typing this thread as i lay here in bed at 11.30 at night, is hard enough, but i found some sort of motivation to do it.. i dont expect a massive response really, i guess all i really want to do is empty my mind out and stop things whirring over and over.. i am worried for my brother (younger brother he is 23) he is in guernsey channel islands (uk) and is in and out of intensive care drugs etc an there are a thousand more strings attached.

(drugdealers after him, homeless, jobless, about to go to prsion long story).

its a worry for me as his older brother.

dm6 - let me give you a few thoughts, hopefully they might help a little.

you sound like a good dude. yea it sounds like you're in a pretty bad place though. one thing you have to remember is life is just a bunch of cycles. you have to get through the bad times, so you can get back to the good times. for example, the problem you are having with your health right now..you could very well outgrow those polyps, and before you know it, you have no need for drugs anymore and you are back to doing your thing as a chef with no problem. one thing that is extremely important though is that you are driven to accomplish. i see you said you dont feel like you have any motivation, that is your worst enemy right there. that is one thing you have to fight to retain. even when things are real bad, you cant let your drive completely disappear. just make small attempts to do a little each day in regard to your goals, and you will see this makes a difference, as opposed to throwing up your arms and giving up totally. (if you dont have goals then MAKE THEM! :P)

(regarding your brother). everyone is on their own path, and has to figure things out for themselves. (each man will carry his own load). i dont want to cross any lines, but you never know, you might be separated at the moment for a reason. i had a lot of friends in highschool that are now big people in the world, although i had one friend who was just completely determined to throw his life away. i loved the guy, when we were just hangin out with other people from the neighborhood....but he got involved with some real shady stuff, i tried to help him, but he was really just determined to throw his life away. in retrospect i'm very glad i was gone when he finally did throw his life down the drain, because i realize there was nothing i could do to stop it from happening, and had i tried, i may have joined him in death.

this fake ass religion has costed me so much but now it has turned my son away from me.

i am so hurt, my heart is broke, and feel completly defeated.

he refuses to call me, blocked me on my facebook account, and went back to the people in the org who threw him under the bus, called him names, slandered him, stole from him and these were so called brothers and sisters!

isn't it the truth? (err)..if you have a problem in the organization there is no compassion...i'm a man, tough etc. i usually stand down anyone that pulls this kind of thing at me, and even when they can get so relentless, even for me, it can begin to crack my resolve. then they expect the sisters to be so mild and all this....i can see how they could really break a human being completely. if it makes you feel any better, i promise you, if i was there right now, you could point out the one that was the most heinous, and i would put the fear of god into him.

hello everybody.. i wanted to share something with you all about something that happened to me last night.. i usually get these things called sleep paralysis, which is where you are alseep and you wake up and you think, oh ill get up now or soemthing, so you go to get up and you cant.. your actually paralysed.

but the strange thign is your awake....?

although i wasn't really going down that road, i agree there are energies etc. we dont understand. gets back to how truly puny our senses are. we have consciousness, sight, smell etc etc etc. but what do other entities have? it's all conjecture at the moment, but me saying if you dont take control, something else will...i could of just been alluding to various parts of the brain that deal with fear/paranoia and so on. that can take you over.

yea sinis is right. i have this also. more than likely you have had this happening to you since you were young and just didnt understand it, i know i have. but sinis is right that you can control your dream at this point...a few weeks ago when this happened to me i used it to make myself levitate all around my room, pretty fun. you can't be disposed to panic though....i'll give you an example. a few years ago i was with a friend of mine and some of his family on a boat...we were just relaxing and drinking a bit whatever...so i said to my friend i need to you know take a leak, so he said just jump in the water then. i got up climbed down the boat and jumped in. when my body was consumed by water panic hit me because the water was freezing, also the boat was already 50 feet in front of me by the time i was immersed. i let out some kind of sound like someone that just got into an ice cold shower thinking it was warm, a real deep loud breath. i heard my buddies sister start to laugh from the boat when she heard me, then she realized it might not be funny. something in my head went off and said DO NOT PANIC....all of the sudden my body relaxed and i sucked up the cold, the same way you might suck up pain, and began to tread water. they turned the boat around and came and got me. you have to have the same kind of reaction when this happens to you in your sleep. you have to take control. the wtbs is right about one thing, if you dont take control, someone else will.

btw your screen name dm6 doesn't have anything to do with dm3,e1m2,dm2,e3m4 etc etc does it?

for me i know it was because i was a reader.. i began reading books at the age of 13, this was in the 1950's.

because there were some serious family problems i had two escapes i could count on reading and associating with my friends at the kingdom hall.. as i devoured steinbeck, hemingway, wolf etc.

my world view expanded....it had to.

someone mentioned something, paraphrasing 'everything is fine until there is a problem'...pretty much any organization you are involved in, as long as you are chipper and ready to serve you're obviously only going to see the light side of things....it's when there is a problem and you see what these folks are really about (especially those in areas of authority)...that you realize holy shit this is all bullshit. there are so many things to many to count (i can see someone on the inside saying something like 'oh sure to many to count yea right, just name one thing!!!'.)..literally i'd have to write a treatise every single conversation...then when they realize you got your shit together, they back off and say something like 'well just it's imperfect men'...you realize you can destroy them at this moment through reasoning skills, but again you realize all it will do is bruise them...no point in battering them because no amount of evidence will be acceptable no matter what (ie. cult). so you just walk away.

this is also very well delineated in their policy toward viewing material that may put their official fds views into question. think about it, a 12 year old really should be able to see through this. if you know something is true, isn't it generally accepted that most people welcome their evidence to be challenged if they know it is 100% true? ok so the wtbts does the exact opposite, not just a middle of the road...but literally the exact opposite...like "OMG DONT READ THAT IT MIGHT CORRUPT YOUR THINKING". isn't this exactly the type of shit you would hear from a cult? if i am telling you the truth, i'm surely not going to behave this way. again a 12 year old....should...be.....able...tooooo.figure...this..............
