Funny story about VeniceIT
by Mulan inby popular demand, i am yielding to pressure, to tell a story about our very own veniceit.. in march, venice and her parents were visiting us here in washington state, and we all had dinner at our daughter's home one evening.
(my daughter posts here as princess) princess's son, 4 years old, was quite taken with venice and was showing her around the house.
he was going up the stairs ahead of her, and turned around, face first at her rather, ummm, er, ample?

disfellowshipped elders reinstated
by jnc inwould appreciate any info or experiences on this subject.... a brother is disfellowshipped, 2 years later reinstated, five years later disfellowshipped again, immorality, 4 years later reinstated, becomes elder, 8 years later runs off with pioneer 16 yr old , divorces wife , dumps girl, remarrys 5 years later, appointed elder again, i believe due to the buddy system, how many times do'es a person have to be disfellowshipped before they say no to any priveledges let alone being an elder again ?

You can serve God (Jehovah, if you prefer) apart from the JW's. You may be surprised to learn that there are lots of other people who love God, and he actually approves of them, and they are part of NO organization.
You are sure welcome here, though. But, I hope you change your mind about going back.

Question re: children/adults <totally off to...
by reagan_oconnor inthis is completely unrelated to jw, but i would like to garner some opinions on this.... i was raised to call adults in the congregation "brother" and "sister.
" non-jw adults were mr. or mrs. unless they advised me to call them by their first names.. we have a neighbor who allows her 3 and 4 year old sons to call my husband and i by our first names.
my husband corrected one of the boys in front of his father, telling him, "please call me mr.

I have to agree with the other posters on this issue. You had rules for your children, but shouldn't expect other people to follow those rules. Their children follow the rules they make, for their homes.
It's like going to your a friend's home and they allow their kids to walk all over the furniture in their shoes. You don't allow that at your house, but you would be out of line to correct their children, but at the same time, you can keep yours from doing it too.
It's a small thing. Like LDH says "don't sweat the small stuff." In our society, that is really very insignificant. They aren't calling you anything abusive, so be glad for that. My little granddaughter, 3 years old, has started calling people "poo poo head", and other 'charming' names. It is being corrected, I might add.

Questions on the "Stand Firm" Video
by mole inmy wife and i are being bullied by my mother and mother-in-law into watching the "wonderful" new video "stand firm" i have been trying to research the controversy behind this issue but have not been able to clearly see what this is all about in a nutshell.

I had to wonder why one of the doctor's was interviewed wearing his surgical mask. Did he NOT want to be identified? I too wondered why they didn't address the question of trauma. Other than that, I thought it was an amazing video. Full of crap, for sure, but really well done. Maybe they are finally learning how to do videos.

I agree that you should NOT go into anything about their false predictions or really anything else doctrinally, that you know is wrong. It will turn them off. Remember how we were trained to react to that information?
The one and only time elders called on us, for a shepherding call, before we quit, (MY husband was an elder at this time) they asked me about my lagging meeting attendance. I said I didn't feel like I belonged there or was welcome anymore, (I had been baptized for 40 years, from age 9) and that when my husband was working in Japan for two months, no one invited my 18 year old son, and me for dinner other than 'worldly' people I worked with, and then I was criticized for accepting the invite. A party was had by some of the sisters, for Pampered Chef (kitchen supplies) given by one of these elder's wife, and I wasn't included, and there was a retirement party for an old brother, and again my son and I were not invited, although the elder hosting the party called me during the party to see how we were doing with Dave gone. I could hear the party going on in the background. Anyway, when I told them all of that, they hung their heads and were very shamed. Then..... they changed the subject. Neat, huh? I gave up on them, at that moment, and realized they really did NOT care about me.
I think a hidden tape recorder is great. Have your husband there, by all means.
I suspect they may be there, to see if there is any cause to disfellowship you. It looks better to the Circuit overseer, when he comes around to have a df, rather than a da. I could be wrong, it's just a thought.
Let us know how it goes!!

I had the same experience reading this, that larc posted. Convention flasbacks. ....shudder.... Everytime we drive past the Tacoma Dome, my husband says it makes his butt pucker! I have to admit it gives me the creeps too, even when a convention isn't in session. And, I LOVED the conventions, not so much for the sessions, but for the socializing.
I looked forward to them every year, especially the years (about 10) that we parked at the hotel, right next to the Tacoma Dome grounds in our RV. Lunchtime was wonderful. Breeze out to the trailer and relax for an hour or so. Kids could run and play. It was great. Our friends were in their RV's too. The last one we went to, I admit, we were in the trailer more than we were in the Dome. My husband had a work assignment (of course) and whenever I went looking for him, I would find him in the trailer with a fresh pot of coffee, reading his book (a novel). He would grin at me, like "what kept you?" So we would sit it out, until we HAD to make an appearance again. You could only park in those spots if you had a health challenge or a work assignment that required you be there day and night.

Okay, Rational, I have to ask: How do you know about that
sister's first orgasm being from a bicycle? Isn't that kind
of a personal thing to have gotten out? -
