We are going to the local (small suburb town) parade. My grandkids and daughter and son in law are in it, wearing Old Navy t shirts, with a big flag on the chest. All of us are ex dubs. Should be fun. The fog is coming in too, so it won't be as hot as formerly predicted.

i found the story very sad.
i work for an airline and live not too far from the place of the accident.. .
That is so sad.
Those airlines are pretty scary. We flew the Polish airlines, LOT, in 1989, going to the special conventions in Poland, and the flight was only from Zurich to Warsaw (about 2 hours), but it was downright terrifying. (we had flown American from Chicago to Zurich) They couldn't start the engines, so they pounded on the control panel, and everything lit up, so they gave it the thumbs up, and we took off. White knuckles all the way, after that. The plane looked good from the outside, but there was a half curtain separating the cockpit from the main cabin. The overhead storage were hammocks. One of the elders on the flight with us, was a TWA flight instructor, and he was scared spitless.
Anyway, I'm never surprised when one goes down.

my next survey is along the same line, however what i would like to find out is on the average how many hours you spent in the field service and were you ever able to bring anyone into the non-truth via field service or via incidental witnessing.. and how long you were associated with the borg?.

I was a publisher from about age 8 until age 50. (1953-1995) No idea how many hours, but the last part of 1995 tghrough 1996, I lied, and didn't do any hours, but reported about 6 to keep them off my back. Pioneered 1990-1993, 1000 hours a year, or a bit less. No one cared if I made the time or not.
Either myself or my husband and myself, brought in many from door to door work. Lots of couples and families. Too many to count. I would guess maybe 25. Several are elders now. One couple quit in 1976. Hmmm. I wonder if they were 75ers?

I have come to the conclusion that people who mispronounce words, don't know how to spell them. My husband is a terrible speller, but a very smart man. His brain just doesn't get it in spelling. For instance.......Volcano, he spells Valcano, and says it that way too. I've corrected him many times, and he maybe has it right now. Another is Satan.......he spells Satin. He does say it right though.
An easy remedy for the their, there, and they're problem.
1. Their is the possessive word, includes 'i'. "It's their car."
2. There is a location. "It's over there." (you have to just remember that one.
3. They're is a contraction of 'they are'. It has the apostraphe, which identifies it as a contraction. "They're going with us."
Another of my pet peeves is too, and to. One of my friends had business cards printed saying, "No job to big or to small." Now, wouldn't the people at the printshop know that was wrong?

I can feel for what you are going through, and am amazed how quickly you saw the real truth. It took me MUCH longer, so I compliment you on your courage and your wisdom.
As for tattoos, I know a JW woman, who had a teardrop tattooed on her leg after her 23 year old son was killed in an accident. No one said a thing to her. Maybe they thought she had dirt on her leg. Do what you want. You don't owe them any explanations or information anymore. I understand your not wanting to be df'd, but just don't provide them with information. They won't make a big deal out of a tattoo anyway.

That was very helpful. Everyone has given me really good advice, and I am going to put it in practice. I told my husband about some of the comments, and he said we really need to do this, because "she is going to be our daughter." And we really accept our kid's mates as our own too. This one just is such a misfit, it is going to be hard.
Maybe we can help her though. Our son is very in love with her, and he is a wonderful young man. He sees something we evidently are not seeing.
Something you said really ran a bell though. She loves to argue! She said she really feels alive when there is conflict. It is really beginning to make more sense to me now.

I am a genealogy freak, and in my research have found a nice
tradition, among my ancestors, that I wish I had known about
when having my children.
The first boy is named the mother's maiden name. Example: If you are Tom Smith and the mom's name was Linda Baker, the boy's name would be Baker Smith. I love names that sound like last names. It would have worked great with my maiden name.
Of course it doesn't always work. My nephew's wife's maiden name was Knappmiller. Not a good name for a baby, I think.
My husband is Scottish, in origin, and the family name was originally MacGregor. One of our son's gave that to his son, for a middle name.
By the way, Jan. Did you know that the original way to spell Locklin, was Loughlin? I found that out on TV? Great name by the way.
