PBS has a catalog of videos. I know I have had it in the past, but I don't have a current one with the address. Did you check their site at pbs.org or use a search engine to find some info?

I've Had It - I Just Can't Do it Anymore
by troubled inwell, it seems we're back to the same "you're a troll; you're not a troll" thing.
it seems that my posts make too many of you "uncomfortable," you have an "intuition," you "can't put your finger on it," whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
i thought this was a place where people can post and be heard.

I think you're "troubled" because you are too concerned about the opinions of others. You are giving others 'way too much power. Take it back! It is risky to post messages if you place others above yourself and give them so much power. You are allowed to disagree with anyone's response to your posts.
You won't be "happy" at the hall, here, or anywhere else until you learn to find that happiness within yourself and stop looking for others to give it to you.
Best wishes,

Motivation
by ItsJustMe ini'm obviously new here, so i'm going to ask a question i'm sure has been discussed before but has me quite curious.
what motivates you to spend so much time discussing jehovah's witnesses?

I find it therapeutic to talk with others who have been through experiences similar to mine. People with no JW contact or experience don't understand the JW experience at all!
I also have family members who claim to be JW's, so I like to keep up on the latest developments, such as "It's late again folks," the UN scandal, child molestation scandal, etc.

Does it really matter?
by ItsJustMe inif you belong to a religion because your family & friends are there, you try to be a good person, you enjoy the activities you are involved in, but deep down you really believe that there is not only one true religion, does it really matter if you remain in the religion of your family and friends?
realistically speaking, what's the harm?

To each his/her own. Living a lie makes some people sick, while others totally groove on it. I am in the former category.

Mispronunciations at the meetings
by TR inmoxy raised a point in the "exaggeration" thread that aggravated me at the meetings.
mispronunciations.
moxy mentioned the word 'hyperbole' as frequently being mispronounced.. another one that bugged me was 'epitome'.

I remember quite a few, not all mispronunciations:
"A fortune teller told Jean (actually Grace) Kelly where that she would be a prince (obviously should be princess)"
"superflushious" for superfluous"
"status Q" for "status quo"
"Trujilla" (with a anglicised "J" as in "Joe") for "Trujillo"
That's all I recall off the top of my head.

Billy (last name unknown), a teenager I believe, was having some sort of relationship with a young married woman in his congregation. He was told that the elders would deal with him. He went home and drank some kind of poison (weed killer maybe?)
I know his California sister's name, but choose not to tell you without her permission. She used to (maybe still does) have a web page called "Broken Chains." She posted the story once on H2O.

In 1979 or 1980, Linda Mullett, a young mother of 2 children committed suicide in Jonesboro or Johnson City, Tennessee. She had apparently attempted suicide once before.
I can't remember some of the details, but there was a story that she had once called the sheriff and asked to be taken for psychiatric treatment. The local JW's told her she "couldn't" get mental health counseling, I think. As I say, I can't remember much detail now, particularly since I have obtained most of the information second-hand (i.e. hearsay).

Do idiots think? Perceptions of others are often not understood. Not everything has meaning.

I graduated from college at age 37 with a degree in French language and literature. I tried teaching high school, but that was not for me. I have been a medical office manager, a legal secretary, a legal office manager, a medical transcriber and had a plethora of low-paying jobs in between.
I took one graduate level course in literary criticism. I have taken night classes in court reporting (I am proficient in Gregg shorthand, too). My next goal is to obtain a master's degree in library science.
I agree with Cygnus that education is not the path to wealth as Robert Kiyosaki so eloquently points out in his "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series. However, education has enhanced my life in many ways and I would not be without it just for the sake of wealth.
