I have learned to be happy just as I am. Of course, I need improvement. I would be happier if there were no more people in the world who can be so easily exploited and fooled by the Watchtower and other organizations. However, I accept the world and myself as we are. After all, acceptance is the key to ease in life.

What would it take for you to be happy
by kenpodragon inwhat would it take for you to be happy in life?
does it take the fall of the organization, or just one person?
or does it take something else completely unrelated to the witnesses?.

Latest WT Encourages You to Question Your Religion
by stevieb1 inas long as your not a jw already that is!!!!!!.
that being said the august 15, 2002 edition of the watchtower carries the cover article "to whom should you be loyal?
" which contains several experiences of ones who gave up their old religion and despite much opposition became jehovah's witnesses.
-
Mum
It especially takes courage to be a JW and question your religion. Risks include losing all contact with those you consider your friends, being shunned by your own family, and facing the world alone with minimal job skills and no one who understands your predicament.

Kids with JW and non-JW parents
by roybatty inim faced with a situation regarding my kids that im sure someone else out there has also faced.
my kids (11 year old son and 8 year old daughter) split their time with me, a non-jw parent and their mother, a jw.
up to this point, discussing in depth why the witnesses are wrong hasnt really come up.

Your kids are still pretty young. If you are concerned about their making a choice to be baptized at an early age, play your gender card; i.e., tell them that they can be baptized as JW's after they are of legal age, but you as their father, insist that they be of age before making such a serious decision. Then you might remind them that Jesus was 30 before he was baptized.

the teachers on the primary school advised me to go follow pre-university education.

Kudos, Rado! It is so uplifting to see someone to whom the world is opening up and is on the road to self-discovery. Best wishes! Keep us posted.

"who considered the rest as nothing"
by metatron in"but he spoke this illustration also to some who trusted in .
themselves that they were righteous and who considered the rest as nothing" luke 18:9. who are the rest to the watchtower?.
"worldly people"?
-
Mum
It is not only worldly people who are considered "as nothing" by these arrogant *******s. Children who are abused or molested, women with a point of view different from any male, those who are disfellowshipped, those who are "marked," anyone who dares to think, and probably many other categories of people and individuals are "nothing" to these haughty,low-life control freak autocrats.
Only an elite core among those within the Watchtower walls are "worthy" by their so-called standards. What contemptible, belly-crawling losers!

JW becoming normal religion
by Realist inam i wrong or is there a trend to make the wt to a normal religion?
first they gave up to predict who the new king of the north is.
then they stopped predicting the end of the world.

OldHippie: They do rule with great strictness unless you are a pedophile. I would say that they take the path of least resistance in these matters; i.e., they side with the person who has more power and write off the helpless (being an ex-JW female certainly gives me a perspective as to their total contempt for women and children in general). "Loyalty" (of pedophiles!) to the organization is a higher priority than morality and "biblical principles." Image is everything. Their value system is seriously warped/twisted/out of line.
God have mercy on their miserable souls.

A message to the critcal people
by JPandelo inafter cruising the board for a while i must say it is amazing the ignorance that some show on this board of the true issues at hand.
those who are critical and small minded know who they are.
also the meek however angry know who they are as well.

Justin, I notice that you must be much better educated than a typical JW. Your post was quite clear and articulate. I am so sorry for what you and your family are going through. Your courage and insight are very commendable in stating the truth.
We are with you.

by Mulan inon april 20, 1977, my brother's wife, janice, died as a result of complications from childbirth.

That is more than sad. It gives us all reason to reflect on how close some of us have come to experiencing similar tragedies. What a price to pay for a belief.
Bless you for sharing this story. It couldn't be easy.

WT 4-01-02 article
by DB inin the april 1, 2002 issue of the watchtower, an article appears entitled "keep on serving jehovah with a steadfast heart".
paragraph 14 of this article states: "if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".
i am withholding comment on this statement, because i'd like to hear from any who would like to post a response.

I recently listened to part of a meeting by speaker phone at the home of an ill relative. The speaker was instructing the congregation (possibly from a KM article) not to use the Bible, but to read directly from the "Reasoning" book. I think this book is like the old "Make Sure of All Things," i.e., just scripture quotations taken out of context. So, I suppose, the poor householder infers that the Bible is the primary source anyway, or something like that.

When Will District Conventions Be Abolished?
by AvailableLight inthe thread on cutting back the number of weekly meetings to two got me thinking:.
do you think the jw organization will continue to hold district conventions for very long?.
i wonder, how many people *really* feel upbuilt after attending a dc?

It is interesting that they are getting to be shorter. I can't see them going away. After all, even JW's get vacation time from their employers. Should they have all of that unstructured, unplanned time? It could lead to thought.
