Depressing Census Statistics on Religion
by jwfacts in... depressing if you are the governing body that is.. the australian census figures from 2011 are available.
this is taken every 5 years, and i have been doing a comparison over the last 15 year period.
for 2001 and 2006 the number of jw's fell in australia, but this time it has risen, which jws may find encouraging.

The door bell rang today
by ABibleStudent injust before i started undressing to take a shower to go to an appointment, the door bell rang.
i thought about not answering the door, but then thought what the hell it could be my neighbor, who is a widow and in her 70's, needing some help.. at the door was a frail man about 85+ years old dressed in a shabby sport coat, shirt, tie, and slacks, and a skinny woman about 75+ years old in a long dress that needed to be ironed.
as i grabbed my dog to prevent him from jumping at the screen door, which was partially open, and beating the couple with his tail and making them fall, i thought what am i going to do.

They might not have been ignoring you. I think it is more likely that they couldn't hear you. I feel so sad for elderly people who make themselves suffer by approaching strangers with stuff the strangers don't want to hear. If they came to my door, I'd offer them a cup of tea and a snack. I remember people doing that for me even though they had no interest in the garbage I was trying to get them to listen to.

She bashed me with the Watchtower then UNFRIENDED me!
by Julia Orwell inall i've done is posted scriptures on my facebook page for discussion.
this uber-jw 'friend' has engaged me in debate, each time cutting and pasting a whole bunch of wt quotes on whatever our topic is, and i've responded with scriptures and she could only answer with another wt quote, and now today i see she's unfriended me!
all her comments are gone too.

That's funny! LOL! Anyway, Julia, you're headed in the right direction now. You don't have to defend what you believe to anyone else. If they criticize your beliefs, just agree to disagree.

Should The Governing Body Seek Professional Teatment For: Narcissistic Personallity Disorder?
by frankiespeakin init is clearly evident that they are suffering from this disorder by all they say, cause to be written, and how they have interpeted scripture so illogically or so megalomaniacally.. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0001930/.

According to what I've read about NPD, people with this disorder are the least amenable to therapy. They resist. They play head games with the therapist. Most of them would have to be hogtied and remain so throughout the therapy session. Even then, it probably wouldn't do much good. They don't care if they hurt people. It has always worked for them, so why change a winning system.
Blessings to all of you who have narcissistic people in your lives. Probably the only solution is to get away from them. If you can get them to change, you are my hero!

Anti-JW Cult: Why did you enslave yourself to new doctrines without fully investigating their validity first?
by Change Name ini saw this on yahoo answers and wondered about your reaction to it.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=asztevcfhe4rumq8w.94glxq1kix;_ylv=3?qid=20130226115907aalqjsp.
here are some of your deceptive doctrines:.

Hello, Change Name.
I must say that you are good at convincing yourself of what you want to believe. I disagree with your responses to the "objections," but I believe in your right to express them; i.e., I believe in freedom of thought and expression.
Why did I enslave myself to those "new doctrines without fully . . ." Here goes.
My family started studying with the JW's when I was 9 years old. The JW's were nice and had answers for everything. I come from an uneducated family in which there is mental illness and criminal behavior. My father was narcissistic, and my mother was what I consider borderline. I was told quite often, even as a small child, what a so-and-so they considered me to be.
Once I had a job working with a co-worker/supervisor who had narcissistic personality disorder. She was very much like my dad, criticizing me, changing her mind constantly about the "right" way to do things, lecturing me, trying to make me feel inferior to her. I went to a therapist. The therapist told me that most people would not have taken the job, that an alarm would have gone off in their heads the first time they met my co-worker. She said that, because of my family's pathology, these people seemed normal to me.
So the JW mindset seemed "normal" to me because I had experienced living in an environment of high control and repression. I knew nothing of "fully investigating" anything. The person who could scream the loudest or beat up the other was "right."
Once I realized that my life was not what I wanted it to be, I could take back some of the control and begin to take responsibility for my own happiness and be proud of who I am and what I have to offer the world.
Thanks for "listening."

Hi, Steve. Welcome aboard. This boat of not knowing all the answers can get rocky, but it's more fun than living a fantasy that will never come true.
In 1979, I realized that the Big A may not come for decades, and that I needed to prepare to live into old age. Look who was right!

Those students at MIT and other universities working on robot technology could learn a lesson here. It is easier to brainwash human beings and turn them into robots. I hope the machine robots are less prone to mental illness from all of the programming. The GB should look to robots to carry on the worldwide work in the future. They are more efficient and won't stop at the coffee shop.

Daily Text for February 28, 2013 !!! ENJOY !!!!!!!!
by DATA-DOG inthursday, february 28. jehovah will make known who belongs to him.-num.
16:5. korah lost sight of the fact that jehovah was directing the nation of israel and consequently failed to show loyalty to those whom god was using.
how much wiser it would have been for korah to wait on jehovah for a clearer understanding or for adjustments if those were really needed.

I'm turning myself in. Lurking elders, are you listening?
by Eve Deceived ini think it's fitting for my very first post to be a thread on jw.net turning myself in to any lurking elders out there on a witch-hunt to cleanse the congregation so that god's choosen ones can "remain in god's love.
" so i'm sorry to all you awesome, truthful apostates on this site, but this thread is really intended for any lurking nazis -- i mean, the taliban -- ugh, i mean elders of the world's most "loving" cult religion.. i am an apostate.
here, i'll save you the trouble:.
