I think girl scout cookies should be passed around at the Memorial (particularly to the kids) and everyone should partake. Memorial attendance would soar!

This is hilarious! It reminds me of a post years ago about why it would be wrong to use toilet paper with little hearts on it.

The ten most embarrassing scriptures for Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat in1. mark 7:15 "there is nothing from outside a man that passes into him that can defile him; but the things that issue forth out of a man are the things that defile a man.. so how can eating black pudding or having a blood transfusion be a sin?.
2. roman 14:5 one [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as others; let each one be convinced in his own mind.
so how come they say birthdays and festivals are a sin?.

Matthew 8:2: Jesus is worshipped
Matthew 14:33 - Jesus is worshipped
John 9:38 - Jesus is worshipped
Jesus did not rebuke any of the worshipers in the above-cited scriptures.

JANUARY 15TH 2013 STUDY EDITION. ???????????????
by DATA-DOG ini have been skimming the magazine this morning, and the whole issue seems designed to keep the flock at the kh.
yes, i know this is not exactly " new " information.
still with all the problems the organization is having, this one just seemed to strike me as odd.

All of this "apostate" paranoia did not exist when I was on the inside, in pre-internet days. I just remember a passing comment once in a while about "the man of lawlessness." I do remember people at an assembly or two pasing out anti-WT tracts. I just took one and promptly threw it in the trash. Now, apparently, every meeting and assembly has some kind of "apostate" component. They are scared of losing their empire.

WT Sues 2005; Blames Puerto Rico's Controlled Access Law For Lack Of Growth
by Justitia Themis inthe watchtower brought suit in puerto rico claiming that the controlled access law is the reason their growth rate has stalled.
i lost some formating trying to get it to post, but here are some excerpts:.
watchtower bible and tract society of new york, et al., plaintiffs vs. roberto sanchez ramos, et al., defendants no.

What about all of the other religions that are not experiencing growth in Puerto Rico? Are they going to sue? Probably not. They accept reality and change. People in general are not as religious as they used to be, particularly in the developed world.
Does a religion have a fundamental "right" to increase in membership.
Hey, Watchtower, put on your big boy pants and deal with it!

Did YOU Feel Abused By The Elders?

did you personally feel the elders were abusive men?.

Did you feel abused by the elders?
Only the one I was married to. He was (and probably still is) an ISTJ. They are drill sergeants at heart. I was a doormat.
When I was getting close to 30 years old, I started to realize I was old enough to make my own decisions about what to watch on TV, what kind of food I wanted, and all other everyday things that didn't require supervision. That's when the sh*t hit the fan. To some degree, I am guilty of creating the monster he became because I was always scraping and bowing and expressing gratitude for every little thing to the point that he began to believe he actually was the little god I made him into.

Evil Elderettes, the true Hounds of Hell!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inmy wife was told a brother was going to be disfellowshiped, "how do you know this is going to happen?
" sister so-so said "he was not repentant or humble to the brother's kindness.
" instead of engaging into a heated debate, she knew who the leak was, so-so's husband.

As a former "Elderette," I can attest to the fact that there was gossip in the car groups. I was a suck-up to the chief Elderette, who was a pioneer. She used to tell me things about people, but withheld their names. I usually felt that I knew who she was talking about.
My elder husband used me as his secretary. When he was school servant, he would have me make the assignments and type the schedule. He also had me fill out the "report cards" used in the TM school. Once, after a committee meeting with a young man who was having sex (!), he dictated a letter for me to type to the Society, or CO, or somebody. Once he was counseled because one of the elders recognized my handwriting on one of his documents.
The worst thing about the whole scenario was that I got little respect. The little respect (or whatever it was) I did get was because I was an elder's wife, not for me personally. I can tell you that as a single JW whose family was "worldly" was quite a contrast to being an elder's wife in terms of anyone paying any attention to me.
Another Elderette and I had a discussion one day about the same "crisis" we were having about not being able to decide what brand to buy in the grocery store. She actually called her husband to get permission to buy another brand of cooking oil because it was on sale.
I had to buy a particular brand of bread, but I wanted to switch to whole wheat. Mr. Elder said no. Then a couple of months later, our neighbor JW recommended whole wheat bread to him. He came into the house and told me he wanted to switch to whole wheat because pretty JW neighbor lady recommended it. At that point, I lost it. I told him that I had wanted to switch earlier but that he had vetoed it. Then I said, "I think you listened to her because you think she's pretty and I'm not!" I had him.
The next time we went out in field service and pretty JW neighbor was making recommendations about the car group, he wouldn't accept her recommendations. He told me she "needed to be put in her place." I disagreed. She was not the problem. (I liked her and considered her a nice and intelligent person, and, yes, pretty, too). He was, and I didn't stick around too much longer.

The real problem with Watchtower.
by Rattigan350 ina topic on here about 1975 prompted me to write about how, for me, that is and never was or will be an issue.. also, the 144,000 and 'two classes' with memorial partaking, and child abuse are not issues with this religion.
everyone has their unique teachings and personnel problems.. the real problem with this religion was highlighted in the 2008 yearbook.
it gave a story of a young woman who was from estonia who was on the equivalent of american idol for estonia.

So, in JW Speak, it is better to live on food stamps and handouts than to develop one's talents and earn a decent living and have a normal life.
I feel so sad for the young woman who won that talent competition. She's giving up so much, and will get nothing in return.

My second husband, never a JW, had a degree in history and religion. He taught Bible History in public school. His curriculum is at the link below, or google "Teacherweb Bible History," and the first link to appear will take you to his lesson plans, etc. In fact, my second husband knew more about the Bible than anyone else I ever met, including clergy AND JW's.
If you want to teach your children the Bible without religious indoctrinationb, I recommend that you print out these lesson plans, read the Bible with your children, and do the workbook assignments. Your children will not be the only ones who learn something.
If the curriculum seems simple-minded, remember it's for high school kids. Because Bible History was an elective, my ex told the school administrators to send him the worst students, and that they would learn in his class. He incorporated paragraph writing, geography and history into the course.
