Witnesses designed own non-pagan calander in 1935 Sunday=God day?!!

{editor of golden age} woodworth in a personal letter to you stated that it would be serving the devil to use our present day calander.

for that he was humiliated and called a jackass and given a public lambasting...".

In the 7th volume of Studies in the Scriptures, the French Revolution is put forth as fulfillment of a lot of prophecies. The calendar was restarted during that horrible time. Maybe Rutherford was thinking about not imitating the revolutionaries and the possible comparisons. Who knows what those wackos were thinking?

amgdn survivialists: stockpiling beans and rice?

just wondering why, if the end is coming so soon, why the jw's were not warned to make plans and stock the ark?.

Long ago when I was a dub, we were instructed not to stockpile because the brothers would have whatever was needed and distribute it. I also remember warnings that the desperately hungry would rob whatever stores we had anyway. Midwich Cuckoo posted that she remembered the same thing. This emergecy kit is something new as far as I know.

Don't worry. The Mormons are stockpiling enough for everybody.

Documentary on cult The Family (on Cinemax today)

i havent been on jwd in ages so i apologize if this topic has been mentioned already.. there's a new documentary on premiering on cinemax tonight that is on the family cult..i was wondering if anyone plans ot watch and will be interested in posting comments later.... hope all is well with everyone,.

Disfellowshiping only began in 1952!! Before this Witnesses were immoral!

many witnesses lived together in sin or had many wives before 1952 during the rutherford era, this was frowned apoun but no one was disfellowshiped unless they did something major like critisize rutherford!

may 15 1944 and finally watch 1/3 1952, disfellowshiping was invented.

In the '70's a sister who had been a JW for a long time told us that in the 1940's there was no DF'ing, but the person was talked to in order to "try to bring them to their senses." As the light has grown "brighter," the practice has become more legalistic and downright hateful.

Massive donations to the WTS

have any of you or people that you know such as relatives or friends, made a very significant donation to the wts?

by that i mean property, or money in excess of let's say $10 000. .

enriching an already very rich organisation has to be moronic, they are the ones that should be helping the poor among them the proverbial orphans and widows.

Poztate and Hortensia have inspired me to leave some mismatched socks, worn-out shoes and whatever other items I deem appropriate to the WT. I have some tubes from the middles of toilet paper rolls that would make a nice addition to the other items. I'll keep looking. Could they be shipped C.O.D.? Probably not. Too bad.
