the following quote caught my eye, from the final study article on page 28.... .

If someone wants to come back, then I guess they'll let 'em, or at least that's what they say in the mags.

But they're sure not going to let any of the R&F that haven't woken up go out looking for them. They might get an earful of Truth and that'd be the end of that!

I'm guessing the release at this year's DC will be a new Bible without these two particular passages:

Matthew 18:12–14 and Luke 15:3–7 - Parable of the Lost Sheep:

According to the Gospels of Matthew (18:12–14) and Luke (15:3–7), a shepherd leaves his flock of 99 sheep in order to find the one sheep who is lost. It is the first member of a trilogy about redemption that Jesus tells after the Pharisees and religious leaders accuse him of welcoming and eating with "sinners." The two parables which follow (in Luke's Gospel) are those of the Lost Coin and the Prodigal Son.

How dare Jesus welcome and eat with sinners! I'm sure he would have emailed and texted them too if they had the technology at the time.

That Jesus was really a bad example.

How could you possibly conduct and "necessary business" if you cannot contact each other via telephone, text messages, or email? I guess snail-mail is still allowed.

Clearly then, it is wrong for a Christian to want to "check up on" any of our wayward family members. It is wrong to let them know we love them and miss them. The right thing to do is to make them miss us and come back to us. We must never, ever encourage them or make them feel that we want them to return. We must make them wonder. We must make them uncertain of our affection and love.

Anything else is disloyal to Jehovah.

So people "return to God" because of their "desire for association" with their family.

Things that make you go, "Hmmm!"

This is almost word-for-word a repeat of this little gem from only last Spring:

After he was reinstated, he said that he always missed the association with his family, ... the burning desire to be with them became one motivating factor in his restoring his relationship with Jehovah. - The Watchtower, April 15, 2012, p. 12, par. 17

i have been out of the "truth" for about 13 years, but 9 of those years i was someone who was out but thinking i would probably go back at some point...out but not all the way out mentally.

my family are still active members and i am a little bit shunned, not invited to family get togethers, that sort of thing.

i was one of those people that left and then did drugs and partied for a while.

You are still missing the point: According to WT rules, if YOU went to the YMCA to swim in their pool, then YOU could be DF'd for apostasy. The WTBTS is the one that labelled the UN as the Scarlet Colored Beast, the "Disgusting thing standing in a place it ought not."

We did not make this stuff up, the WT leaders did. They hypocritically broke their own rules, not just for a "quick swim" in a YMCA pool, but for a decade in the UN Library.

While they have acknowledged their error and changed, they did it privately and failed to sanction themselves. If an elder in a local congregation did such a thing he would be deleted as an elder at the very least and possibly--maybe even probably--be disfellowshipped. Yet all of the GB members continued to maintain their positions as if nothing ever happened. Why is that?

This is a textbook example of religion hypocrisy. Which is, by the way, one of the things that the WTBTS is always pointing to as proof that other religions are false. In reality, they are no different, they just pretend to be.

It really is that simple.
